"But, why would anyone try and fail to hunt the leader instead of focusing on getting hundreds of Golden Cores?" Miss asks in disbelief.
"Good question! It's precisely because of the Core the former leader had was Black!" Prince Si says seriously.
"Black Core..."

Black Core... The most expensive item on the market.
With only one Black Core, you could fund your own country!
"Then...?" It looks like Miss figured something out.
"Yes. Our Quas Empire exists only thanks to my ancestor who obtained the Black Core by slaying the Golden Griffin leader!" Prince Si says proudly.
I see... But, the current leader is Martial Sage rank, right?
There's no way for Martial Sage ranked beast to have a Black Core...

"Mm? Are they that strong?" Miss asks.
"Brother Marco may not look like it, but he is an Array Master. He will be able to trap the leader in a restricted space after the rest of us surround it." Prince Si explains.
Oh... So Brother Marco wasn't just an ordinary funny person.
He is an Array Master funny person!

Something hits the side of the carriage.
"ORAAAA! ATTACK!" A man yells in a loud voice.
"Bandits!" Sophia shouts.
Startled, I open my eye.
Bandits? I must protect Miss!
I quickly stand in order to shield Miss.
"Haa... As expected, we can't have a day without trouble." Prince Si sighs.
"Stay here, I will quickly settle it." Prince Si pushes his hand against my head making me fall back into Miss's lap.

(As you can tell from that, it is heavily besed on fantasy with mages and the like. Technology will not feature prominently) -As mentioned in the tags, this will have game-like aspects. (E.G. levels, stats. I will be trying to put my own twist on this notion however, so bear with me if the premise intrests you but you despise LitRpg) -It'll get rather dark, but not devastatingly so. (I'm trying to write a more complex story so it will have its dark moments, the prologue being one of them. Rest assured the whole story will not be this dark, though I'll make sure that no-one is a saint either) -The protagonist/protagonists will not be a Mary-Sue. (The plural will be understood when I'm further into the story. They also won't be impossiby unlikeable such as those in many Light novels.) -There is no prophecy (Anyone who says there is, is lying, trust me.)

Still, elite families control the government and social justice remains dismal. The younger population became increasingly materialistic while their parents are becoming more and more irresponsible. The problem has shifted from "how to decrease population" to "how to make spoiled kids' and parents' ass off to work".In terms of military power, the country has acquired considerate amount of firepower but remained one of the weakest in the ASEAN region thanks to politics. Worse, China and the USA has declared war against each other after a diplomatic blunder thanks to the incompetence of their respective new presidents. The world is doomed to a world war 3 while the Philippines was caught unprepared for war. Instead of finding solutions, politicians in the Philippines continued to blame their political enemies while the CBCP called everyone to prayer, hoping that God would make a miracle that make Philippines somewhat immune to nuclear weapons. Ironically, the prayer got answered in a way that is unimaginable....
