《The Voyager》Season 1: The Starcraft Commander---Chapter 22: Conspiracy(2)

Mengsk glanced at the date for a while before turning back to Jean. He seemed a lot more polite this time. Before he was talking to someone inferior. Now he was talking to the vulnerable girl in towel with caution. “Tell me more about the deal. What were those things?”
Mengsk was referring to the creatures Jean showed him in the files. “Those were hybrids. A single one of them can take down a Thor with ease, and they are just the soldiers of the dark god, Amon. But don’t act so surprised, you have seen these creatures before. In fact, you helped to develop them.”
Mengsk stared into Jean’s eyes for a few seconds. Nova gripped to her rifle behind Jean. Jean returned the stare at Mengsk. Underground 12 auto turrets with detection were ready. Mengsk hesitated. He could order Nova to kill this hacker. No matter how good she is at hacking, she couldn’t stand up to an elite ghost trained to end life, but he wanted to learn more about the hybrids. He fell like he had fallen into a well knit trap. If the hybrids were truly soldiers of this Amon, then someone was using him and his resources to develop bio weapons for his future enemies. The proud emperor could not accept that. He saw what the hybrids could do in tests he conducted. They were not only powerful but could also be mass produced with relative ease. In the end thousands of hybrids were much more devastating than one single hacker. He might be a ruthless dictator, but he had no intention of dying.
The emperor finally nodded. “Yes, I have a lab developing hybrids, but I have no idea they belong to this Amon. I will order my men to capture the doctor that came to me with the idea of hybrids. Now, tell me more about the deal.”

“First of all I want to make something clear.” Jean clicked her fingernails together. “I am not a hero like my boss. I don’t want to bring freedom to the people of the Dominion. In fact, I want you to be the head of the Dominion. Your ruthlessness and efficiency can prove useful in the upcoming war. A united Dominion is much stronger than a leaderless one. Unfortunately my leader is not going to accept that.” Her tone was cold. “So my deal is this. I will give you Raynor’s head, and in exchange you will lead the entire Dominion and stand with me during the end war against Amon.”
Mengsk thought about it for a while. “Deal. Agent Nova will be with you to make sure your end of the deal is kept.” Jean nodded. Both of them were not people of trust, and they both knew they would betray each other as soon as their common enemy fell. Still, Jean believed she would come out on top.
The transmission ended, and Jean turned to Nova. “Here’s the plan...” She suddenly turned around, grabbed onto a dagger from the counter, and tossed it at the door. Nova turned around at the same time and fired a round. The two girls ran to the door, where a certain captain laid on the ground.
It was Eobard, the captain of Wolfpack. The dagger hit his stomach and disabled him. Even if the dagger missed the gauss bullet in his leg would’ve done the same. Jean looked at him, and his eyes were full of fury.
“Why?” He yelled desperately. His eyes stared at the one he swore allegiance to. “Why? We’re the Raiders! We’re supposed to fight the Dominion, not make a deal with them!”

“I am doing what has to be done.” Jean replied coldly, now that she had no need to hide her true self. “You had been here since the start of the conversation. You know why.” She had noticed Eobard at the start of the conversation, but she allowed him to hear the entire conversation for a reason. She wanted to test him.
Eobard coughed. “I have sworn to fight for you ever since you saved me from those aliens, commander.” His eyes turned red. “But my family died at the hands of the Dominion, and I have sworn to avenge them no matter the cost. This is the reason I joined the Raiders. I will not side with those filth.” He groaned. “And I will not side with you.”
“Very well.” Jean acknowledged the man’s determination, so she knelt down beside the man and snapped his neck. Two machines came out and disposed the body.
“That is just cold,” Nova commented as Jean just killed one of her closest guards. “and I thought we ghosts are cruel.”
Jean stood back up and stared at the special agent. “Follow me. I’ll make sure you don’t get detected.”
Nova frowned. “And what if you betray me?”
“I assure you, my dear, if I wanted your death then you’ll be dead the second you set foot on this ship.” Jean said casually and looked down on her body. “I’ll clean and change and meet you here in 10 minutes.”
In the shower Jean let the water slide down her body as her mind went over the plan again.
What she was going to do would disappoint many people. People that considered her as friends. Raynor. Horner. Swann. Stetmann. These people trusted her with their heart and helped her whenever she needed assistance. She wouldn’t be the second in command of the Raiders if Raynor and Horner didn’t trust her. Without Stettman and Swann’s help she couldn’t develop the Warden system. She wouldn’t have one, soon to be two, elite battlecruisers and several powerful allies. She would just be a girl with some especially experiences and a mental illness.
She would likely die in some combat. These people practically saved her life.
Nonetheless she will still do what must be done. She had gained everything possible from the Raiders and being friend with the rebels could no longer prove beneficial. With the use of the Warden among the Raiders, she had reached to a point where she could wipe out all those who opposed her with ease. The Raiders could no longer help her complete her mission, and to Jean destroying the Raiders would win her a powerful ally against the dark god. It’s an efficient trade, is it not?
Many will die...yet she didn’t care a bit.
Jean turned off the water and dried her body with a towel. She stepped out of the shower, and one second she was naked the next second a layer of specialized suit was on her. Her mental chip connected to every single AI among the Raiders. Her fists gripped together. A pair of specialized goggles covered her eyes. Her ponytail dangled behind her. She walked out of the bathroom and into the bridge to meet Nova. The ghost raiseed her eyebrows as she saw the girl in her suit.
“Neat.” That was her only comment.
“Indeed.” Jean said. “Now, let the operation begin.“

The Five Series - redemption
Book 1 - Redemption Three generations have passed since the last near-apocalyptic war. Civilization is beginning to thrive again at an ever increasing pace. The burden of society has been once again placed on the back of a massive robotic workforce, creating a huge divide between industrial glory, and those forced to live in its shadow. Many have stubbornly held onto the old ways of self-governance from back when the government fell, but with its return, life in Welan City is changing. Aaron, a middle-aged man, who is stuck in the rut of daily life, witnesses a murder and finds himself in trouble, love, and the middle of a highly secretive robotics project. Aaron stakes his life on helping a prototype survive, and pays for it dearly. Passionate hate, love, and indifference send life in Welan City spiraling out of control, leaving no one innocent in the end. The Five Series is, well, a series. I've completed 3 of the books so far and will finish with a fourth, maybe fifth book. Book 1 is heavy on the character development side while the following will be much more decision and consequence oriented. This story reaches into the soul of a person and the universe we live in. Some people deserve a second chance, and some do not. With that im mind, no one really ever gets what they deserve though, do they? Always tell the people you care about that you love them as often as you can, they could be gone tomorrow. Would that change if you could always bring them back? I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I did writing it. Cody

El's Revenge
“Revenge is not for the dead- we, as the living, take revenge to relieve the burden we feel,” I whispered into the air. “Salvation for the people who suffered because of you,” I watched as the city burned in the flames. “Salvation for the people like me, who believed in the proclaimed heroes when in reality they were the devils.” I smiled faintly as the ‘holy land’ of those ‘saints’ was destroyed. I heard rustling sounds as Charlotte came to stand next to me, grabbing my hand. “El, are we the bad guys?” If I was still the same as I was before, I might’ve broken down and started crying. Now, it was different. “A villain is just another victim. They cry and mourn, it’s just that no one heard, leading them into madness. It’s one of the reasons why we know the most, but care the least.” I took a deep breath. “We may be the bad guys in other peoples’ eyes, but in my story, we’re the heroes.” Charlotte took in my words for a while and pondered, before nodding in agreement. “As children, we loved the heroes, as adults we understand the villains.” I looked at her and bonked her on the head, earning an angry glare from her. “Hey! You’re barely an adult yourself you know,” she grumbled. I laughed and ruffled her hair, before countering her. “At least I’m not 12. You can’t even be considered a teenager at that age.” After that, we silently watched the flames ravage the land, before leaving.
