Although the full name mentioned here are Chinese style, (example: Fang Hao, surname Fang first then given name Hao), the names clubbed with descriptions are description and then given name instead of description and surname (example Fatty Hao and not Fatty Fang).

Meanwhile the two other outer disciples, who had decided to gang up on Lord Lard, had reached him. Fang Hao unconsciously displayed an expression of disdain which he had practiced so far in the arena. This infuriated the two of his opponents more. Fang Hao strafed sideways as they approached and gave a sweeping low kick towards the nearer opponent, successfully tripping him. He then did a little hop and his feet landed with the full impact of his weight and the additional pressure from the formation on the prone outer disciple’s thighbone.

A cracking noise could be heard, but surprisingly the outer disciple didn’t scream though he had an ugly expression on his face as he glared at Fang Hao in hostility. Despite his position he tried to kick Fang Hao with his good leg. Fang Hao saw the blow coming and did another little hop landing on the pitiable cultivator’s abdomen, knocking the wind out of him. Fang Hao then turned to see the other cultivator who was trying to sneak up on him and said in a haughty voice, “Trying to beat this Lord by ganging up and using sneak attacks? This lord has to teach you a lesson!” With a menacing grin Fang Hao advanced towards the approaching outer disciple who paled and immediately shouted “I give up!” as he backed away as fast as he could.

Only Fang Hao and the swarthy turtle were the ones left standing inside the ring. ‘I can’t beat up the turtle too bad. His master is presiding over this match after all. I don’t know the exact standing of Master Zhu…but better not be too heavy handed now.’ As they cautiously approached each other, the swarthy turtle muttered to himself, “Fang Hao! I may not be a match without my weapon…but don’t expect me to give up without a fight!”, but Fang Hao overheard it without too much trouble.

‘Oh I thought about taunting him to make him admit defeat; but he seems determined to fight. Or did he mutter those words loud enough to make me hear them. Mind Games, I hate them! I will just crush him with physical power…but leave some face for his Master.’ Fang Hao got serious about the brawl and took a fluid stance. He had his knees bent to quickly adjust his center of gravity and had angled his body sideways with his left side leading. This was so that his opponent had less of a target, but due to his physique, turning sideways didn’t reduce the area by much.

The Swarthy Turtle was clearly a lot less skilled in unarmed combat than in spear play. But still his evasive footwork was praiseworthy. As he approached Fang Hao in a strange stance, he had his guard up ready to retreat at a moment’s notice. Fang Hao still held himself back as he flicked his left fist in a jab like move which his opponent barely dodged. He continued to be on the offensive throwing left jabs and mixed occasional right straights into the mix. He was forcing the swarthy turtle to be on the defensive while he was at the offense. After around quarter of an hour of this cat and mouse game the swarthy turtle appeared tired and his reactions were slightly slower. Fang Hao getting a bit bored himself, decided to end the match. He performed a left jab and as his opponent retreated, he lunged forward with a sweeping side kick.

His blow purposely disrupted the rhythm he had built up and connected with the upper thigh of his opponent. This gave him the opening he required and he dashed forward aiming a blow at his opponent’s solar plexus. The swarthy turtle noticed the approaching blow, but couldn’t react in time before he was jarred for a couple of seconds by the fatty’s punch. Fang Hao didn’t leave any quarter for his opponent and followed up with a knuckle sandwich to his armpit strike and a knee strike to his liver.

Taking advantage of his stunned opponent, he quickly grabbed a hold of his robes and dashed at full speed towards the edge of the red glowing ring while dragging him before chucking him out. The swarthy turtle landed face first on the ground tasting some dirt looking like chucked garbage. ‘OK that left his master lesser face than I expected. But I didn’t sit on him and slap him to unconsciousness so there is that…’ The coal black young man didn’t seem upset at all about his disciple losing. In fact he seemed more interested in Fang Hao than before. “Little Fatty, you win this qualifying round. I will find you for the main competition in a few weeks.”

The Elder then took a single step but somehow reached near his disciple, the swarthy turtle. He then grabbed his collar and disappeared out of existence. Fang Hao felt a familiar prickling sensation at the back of his neck. ‘Have I met the Elder before…for some reason he feels quite familiar. Anyways, I am not tired at all! I guess this bountiful stamina is partially due to the 1st seal.’ Fang Hao marched back to his clique, grabbed all the armor and left towards the bathrooms to equip it. As he was retreating he heard the assignment hall senior announce.

“Now the rest of you with cultivation below the 9th layer of Qi Gathering will fight each other in an elimination match. The reward will be some fasting pills…” Fang Hao didn’t see it but most of the disciples had an ugly expression on their face. Initially their hot blood was gushing at even the very small chance for the rewards…but Fang Hao had snatched it from them. All they could hope to get would be at best, a few months’ worth of fasting pills. How could they not be dismayed?

Fang Hao equipped his armor and proudly returned to spectate the rest of the fight. He was given a lot of hateful glares but he didn’t mind it at all. ‘My fellow apprentice brothers seem butthurt. Well I don’t care about their feelings I just hope the elder doesn’t hold a grudge against me for beating up the swarthy turtle…’ thought Fang Hao as he randomly cheered for one of his fellow apprentice brothers who were fighting now.
