Other than completing his butchering chores, Fang Hao spent most of his time practicing the first move of the Divine Vajra Body Scripture. It took him almost a month of diligent practice so that he could perform it without feeling barely any pressure, signifying that he had mastered the first move. There were no external signs of a breakthrough, like excreting impurities through his skin or black blood. Nevertheless Fang Hao felt himself to be lighter…even though his weight and size didn’t reduce in the slightest.
‘Fudge this divine scripture. Would it hurt to reduce m waistline a bit? But I suppose I am being greedy. My status screen shows a nice gain in stats…and that’s with mastering only the first move. It is good to have a sturdy body…I just wish it wouldn’t remain so fat.’ It wasn’t wrong to say that he was disappointed that his refined body wasn’t turning out to be handsome in the least. He started working on the next step of the Divine Vajra Body Scripture.
He took a couple of weeks to consolidate the three components of movements, chanting and Qi circulation before practicing the second step. The second step was more difficult that the first step but nothing he couldn’t manage. It took him a little over two months to practice the second step without feeling any pressure.
The Divine Vajra Body Scripture was very profound and it changed his body with each repetition of the move continuously. The increase in his fleshly power and durability was consolidated…he never felt a sudden increase in his strength which he could suitably control. His strength wasn’t heaven defying, but he felt that his strength rose along with each practice of the Divine Vajra Body Scripture. He had recently individually consolidated the three components of the third step of the Divine Vajra Body Scripture and around 8 months had passed since he entered the Jade Pagoda sect. He reviewed his status and was pleased at the results.

‘My strength, finesse and spirit gained 0.6, 0.4 and 0.2 respectively on mastering the first two moves of the Divine Vajra Body Scripture. While the numbers may not seem much, my strength and finesses probably exceeds an average 6th layer Qi gathering Realm cultivator. But why did I gain stats in Spirit though? Isn’t this supposed to be a body refining art? Oh well won’t say no to bonus stats! Also no skill points for mastering the moves of the Divine Vajra Body Scripture?’ he mused for a bit, reflecting on the changes in his status screen.
‘ No point in worrying about that now. More importantly, I am dangerously close to leveling into the 4th layer of the Qi gathering Realm. I should collect the next part of the scripture or shit will hit the fan if I level up without access to the necessary manual!’ He went to the Assignment Hall and saw Old Man Zhu was drinking something from an animal-skin pouch, not unlike his own water-skin. He got the faint smell of lavender and juniper as he saw the old man closing his eyes, savoring the flavor of whatever he was drinking. He politely waited for almost fifteen minutes in silence, until Old man Zhu opened his eyes.
“Not bad junior! You know the value of patience and respect. Now tell me the purpose of your visit?” Fang Hao clasped his hands, bowed and said respectfully, “This disciple thanks martial uncle for his acknowledgement. This disciple has stepped into the 3rd layer of the Qi Gathering realm and requests Martial uncle to bestow the subsequent layers of the Sublime Qi Manual.” Old man Zhu inspected him, as a glimmer was faintly visible in his eyes.

“Not bad, little fatty. But not outstanding either. One of the first brats to ask me for it was nearly a month ago.” Old man Zhu made a swishing motion and a rolled up scroll floated near Fang Hao who grabbed it and tucked it in his robes. He was about to leave when Old Man Zhu said, “Junior fatty, give this old man some company and have some wine!” Old man Zhu quickly took a gulp from his wineskin. Once finished, two crystal goblets floated in the air and Old man Zhu poured a light purple watery liquid from his wineskin. He grabbed his crystal goblet and finished it, bottoms up. “Little fatty, no need to be polite, have a drink!” Old man Zhu said, clearly buzzed.
“Since Senior insists, this disciple will help himself!” Fang Hao said as he grabbed the floating crystal goblet. ‘Now that I think about it, it has been almost a year since I last drank beer. But I should probably take a small sip…who knows how strong this wine is to get a Qi condensation cultivator like Old man Zhu drunk.’ Fang Hao thought cautiously as he took a small sip of the light purple liquid.
It tasted like sweet clear nectar with a nutty aftertaste as a sublime aroma clouded his senses. After savoring the taste for a few moments, he swallowed it and almost chocked. The wine felt fiery and potent, much like bourbon once it passed it throat. As it hit his stomach, he felt a mild wave of dizziness and a warm comfortable feeling passed over his body. ‘Damn this stuff is good! It feels like I had a few pegs of bourbon, and that too with only a mouthful!’
He unsteadily cupped his hand and had difficulty avoiding slurring “Senior Zhu, this wine is delishious!” Old man Zhu drank a cup in one gulp as he said. “Diligently cultivating is good little fatty, but you must learn to enjoy yourselves in between! Don’t be polite and drink up! I have quite a bit of this spirit wine left!” Fang Hao took another sip and his body was visibly swaying, but he still managed to remain standing.
After another sip, his vision was blurry and his knees were week…yet Old Man Zhu had finished 3 cups by now and urged him to continue drinking. He took another sip and his vision was faint. It took almost all his willpower to sit on the floor and he placed the crystal goblet next to him and struggled to cup his hands as he said, “Dishiple ashks to be excushed, Shenior!” Old Man Zhu finished yet another cup and he said with a smile. “Give this old man some face, and at least finish this cup!” Sighing in resignation and pleasure, Fang Hao took yet another sip from the goblet.
By now, he felt like molten lava was poured into his dantian and his ears buzzed. Subconsciously trying to alleviate the feeling, he circulated the 3d layer of the Sublime Qi manual and the feeling slightly reduced in intensity. A warm comfortable current channeled through his meridians and his vision was tinged in light purple.
Old Man Zhu was still drinking the spirit wine like water, and a glint of amusement could be seen in his eyes as he observed Fang Hao. Fang Hao felt the discomfort alleviate, but he remained sloshed as the Sublime Qi manual finished circulating. He was perspiring, and beads of sweat were dropping from his flushed face as he took another sip, emptying his goblet, and circulated the 3rd layer of the Sublime Qi Manual again. He then inquired, “May this junior have shome more wine?” Old man Zhu laughed, and poured some more spirit wine in Fang Hao’s goblet.

Home of Laplace
I opened my eyes to an unfamiliar mountain peak standing tall above me like seeing a skyscraper from the street. Soon the chilling burn of the snow that covered me began to invade my senses and I flung my torso upward, sitting up straight. I grabbed my head in confusion as my eyes surveyed the area around me: The corner of a mountain wall stood menacingly in front of me accompanied by thin, dangerous looking paths on either side. The likes of which only adrenaline-seeking psychopaths would use. I turned my head backwards and felt my heart drop as what looked like an infinitely long freefall met my gaze. I was sitting on the ledge of a snow-covered mountain. "CRKKKK" A heart-shaking croaking sounded from above me further up the mountain and I jolted backwards at the impossibly loud sound. 'Shit, wasn't there nothing behind me?' The sound of cracking stone accompanied the heart dropping sensation of descension. As I plunged down backwards, the last thing I saw was the deep-set brown eyes of that blue-skinned monstrosity further up the mountain. ----------------------------------------------------- Levi Laplace is a former genius biochemistry student that died a simple and laughable death on earth.
