Fang Hao was contemplating a few things, after viewing his updated status screen. ‘Another 661 xp is required to Qi Gathering 4th layer. Assuming that I get no better avenues for xp grinding, I should reach it within 5 to 6 months. I do need the other layers of the Sublime Qi manual for skill point grinding. But a silver ranked talent like me reached the 3rd layer of Qi Gathering in 4 months? That’s less than half the time it takes on an average!’

‘I cannot afford to expose myself to Old man Zhu… and for some reason I feel that he is way more powerful than a washed out Qi Condensation realm cultivator. I should pick up the later layers after four months. I would still be at Qi Gathering realm 3rd layer, and while reaching the 3rd layer after 8 months is better than average, it is not in the realm of arousing suspicion. ’

‘Divine Vajra Scripture, that name sounds awesome…too bad I don’t have the complete scripture and just a fragment. Cultivating the body refinement scripture would have many obvious merits. Most obviously, my survivability would receive a huge bonus. From what I understand, the offense and defense of most cultivators heavily depends on Qi. If their Qi runs out in a group or protracted battle… they will be sitting ducks.’

‘While leveling up, although there are stat gains, but a measly 0.1 in physique is a far cry from 1.3 in Qi I got for the last level up. While it does add an additional layer to defense, to make effective offensive use of it I would probably have to learn good agility techniques and specialized close combat spells. On the other hand, if cultivating this scripture causes prominent visible changes to my body, then it may turn out to be inconvenient. But the risks of that are minimal, as the drunken monk didn’t look inhuman while he performed the Divine Vajra Body Scripture…’

Having resolved to cultivate, he settled in his seclusion room and consolidated his understanding of the Divine Vajra Body Scripture. Each layer of the scripture had nine moves. Each move consisted of dance-like movement, energy circulation and mental chanting of sutras. After nine successive layers or moves had been mastered individually, the next step was to combine them in an ensemble. If the ensemble was successful, one realm of the scripture would have been successfully cultivated and a vajra seal would form, further transforming the practitioner’s body.

Fang Hao attempted to perform only the physical movements of the first move in the secluded cultivating room. Although it looked like a simple sidestep with arm gestures and hand seals, it took him better part of a week before he was confident in his movements…his fat body did make a few of the poses a bit awkward. In comparison, the energy circulation was comparatively simpler.

It was somewhere between the 1st layer and the 2nd layer of the Sublime Qi manual in difficulty and he could independently perform a single circulation within a few days. The sutra he had to chant also wasn’t something too profound, and he had it memorized within a day. After a little under 10 days of practicing the components of the first move individually, he felt confident enough to attempt it. When he performed the first dance, circulation and chant simultaneously, he felt a heavy pressure surrounding him.

It felt as if he was trying to move underwater, with the current opposing him. A movement which previously took a bit of effort and several seconds to complete took him almost ten minutes to complete when combined with the chant and Qi circulation! Just cultivating the move once had depleted a little under half of his Qi! He would master the 1st move if he ceased to feel any pressure while cultivating. Of course by then, his fleshly body would have become stronger, faster and more resilient.

After completing one repetition of the first move, Fang Hao was sweating and heaving as he made his way to his backyard. He disrobed and lay on the grass in his loincloth. ‘This scripture is truly profound. It isn’t too difficult to cultivate, but has such strong stimulation on the fleshly body. After catching my breath, I should circulate the sublime Qi manual to recover my used up Qi before attempting the next repletion. Damn I miss proper underwear.’

Fang Hao thought as he idly scratched his bellybutton as he was panting. He saw a distant fluffy white cloud flying almost directly over his courtyard. He had a vague feeling of being watched, as he stared at the cloud. It was too far to make out, but he thought a saw an outline of someone sitting on it. He guessed that it was probably a flight magic treasure. If it was so, the cultivator sitting on it must have been a core disciple! Only genuine cultivators who had built their foundations were qualified to fly over this area! ‘Just you wait Jade pagoda Sect, I your father, will soon be the one whose fat ass sits on such a comfortable treasure.’

Meanwhile, the distinguished looking young man sitting on the cloud shaped flying treasure observed Fang Hao’s courtyard in disdain. ‘Instead of diligently cultivating or doing his chores, that damn fatty is rubbing his belly lying down half-naked outside. If it weren’t beneath me, I would surely go and teach him a lesson! It’s a good thing there are no guests visiting…otherwise such a scene would have caused immense loss of face.’ He thought fuming, more than a little irritated at Fang Hao’s behavior.
