Announcement + QnA + Title Change
I've been holding onto this for a while.
So I’ve hinted at it several times, and outright said it once or twice, but today’s chapter marks the end of Monarch Book 2. Book 2 you ask, what happened to Monarch Book 1?
Monarch, A Progression Fantasy Series
Book 1: Covers everything from Ignis I to the end of Enclave.
A highly edited version is now up for pre-order on Amazon and the series is signed through Aethon for three books. Obviously pre-order and give me money if you want, but if you want to wait, it will be up on Kindle Unlimited at release. An Audiobook Version narrated by the unbelievably talented Luke Daniels should go up simultaneously, so if you want to hear some of Cairn’s rants and speeches rather than read them, keep an eye out for that. I know I’m excited to hear Luke go crazy with the material.
Because it’s going up on KU, I will have to take those chapters down sometime late March, so early warning that’s coming in around a month.
So what does this mean for the average RR reader? Not much, really. Other than the fact that Monarch is basically guaranteed to continue, as it’s signed, I’ll still be uploading chapters here on RR as we go.
I quit my job six months ago to work on writing full-time. I’ve been working on Monarch for more than a year, even during the hiatuses. So, I’m taking short break from actively posting chapters to outline and plan Monarch Book III. It’s going to be a big story, but also a deeply personal one for Cairn, with a lot of plot points from book I and II coming to a head in a new setting. So I want to get it right.

You don't know anything yet, so you can't say. So, enter our world, and find out what side is what.

The end of times as we know it came as the whole world becamed engulfed with monsters. Nations fell one by one as mythical creatures razed everything to the ground. To make matters worse, the world that had already been tamed through human innovation reverted back to its original wild state as various human technology disappeared off the face of the world. Fortunately, the RPG system that came with the apocalypse allowed all humans to level up and exceed the strength limits of their race. From the ashes of the old world, heroes like the Dragon Lord and the Steel Empress rises up as they protected and ruled over what remained of humanity from the destruction. Regardless of whether they were cunning or strong or just plain lucky, there was no doubt that these heroes are people who have the power to fight against millions. To many, they are the beacon of hope in such dark times as they represented the strongest potential of humanity. Orginally, Alex had nothing to do with this world, but an accident from the future thrusted him right into the very center of this world's conflict. --- Just your normal cliche post-apocalyptic RPG story with an edgy MC. Expect overpoweredness and wish-fulfillment.

Fast forward many ages later when Amon and his people awaken once more. The world has drastically changed, and his kind is now deemed a threat. The heroic Alliance responded by sending a raid to eradicate the last Allagans, where Amon was ultimately defeated ...or so the world thought. Through his ingenuity and aetheric technology, Amon manged to cheat death. Only, things didn't quite work out the way he planned. Stripped of his magic and technological resources, Amon now takes on the guise of a bard as he struggles to build a new life in a time long after the fall of his empire. But, should the people of this modern time discover who Amon once was, he fears they would put an end to the bard technologist's tale. I've been writing Spot of Mummery since 2018, so there's quite a backlog of story to post! This story was also written before the changes made to lore released in the Endwalker expansion (December 2021).
