At the behest of Lord Barithal of the Great House Torfiol. I, Grumdel Bel Korben a reputed and famed Dwarven scholar will chronicle the events that have befallen our once Great House. Beginning with the Battle for the City of Centar.
Reports from the Dwarven Scouting Unit.
3rd of Drolmar:
This is Captain of the Guard Boeroner here. We've been ordered to keep a close watch on the situation developing up on the Open Plains and record what's been happenin. Me an the lads have bunkered ourselves down a couple miles south of the City to scout out the area and keep watch. So far we've seen around twenty to thirty thousand Centaurs pour in from all across the country to get into the place. No clue as to why though? I've heard tell that the Orcs are still fighting somewhere further south of here. Seems a dam waste of arms, keepin em all cooped up inside of the City like that, twiddling their thumbs, when a war is going on.
8th of Drolmar:
We've finally caught wind of the Orc armies approach to the City. Strangest thing I've ever seen in my one hundred and sixty five years as a warrior. The Orcs have brought at least forty thousand Goblins with them. We've also seen a bunch of nasty looking buggers the size of fully grown trees with strange looking grey armor. They seem to be the vanguard for the army. My lads have also come across some Orcs with pitch black skin, formed up along the sides of their army. By the way they looked and moved, I would say they were elite warriors, if I had to guess. The grey armored Orcs number around fifteen thousand, and the dark skins around twenty five thousand.
9th of Drolmar:
The Orcs have set up camp alittle to the west of the City and have begun constructing siege works all around the City. From the sounds of things, the fighting there seems to have gotten quite abit heavy. I've seen a dozens of Centaurn companies ride out from the City to slip north and south, probably to flank the Orc armies. But whatever's happenin out there doesn't seem to be working in their favor, fewer and fewer Centaurs are returning to the City after one of their forays. We'll move our base tomorrow to get a better view of the situation.

10th of Drolmar:
Had to kill a couple of Goblins that got in our way, but we managed to reach the western side of the City, where the Orc armies have laid out their Warcamp. And what a sight it is to behold, there must be at least hundred thousand or more Orcs, digging ditches, sharpening stakes and setting up watch towers. Not sure, where they've managed to collect so much lumber, but their operation is quite impressive. We couldn't have done it better ourselves, which saying something. Still their fortifications could have been completed a good deal faster, if they weren't under constant attack from patrolling Centaurs.
14th of Drolmar
The battle has heated up considerably in the last few days. Droves of Centaurs have been attacking the Orc Warcamp non-stop in order to stop the siege works going on around their City, but it looks unlikely that they'll be able to halt their progress. The gray armored warriors, along with the elites and a Orcish crossbows have been working tirelessly to keep them at bay. Soon the Orcs will have a well-fortified position surrounding the City, cutting them off from their supplies and the outside world.
Which begs the question, why won't the bull headed idiots fight them out in the open, where they can maneuver around them? Or at very least, why not abandon the City? None of this makes a lick of sense.
6th of Walmek
One of my boys today, saw a Centaur fire an arrow at almost point blank range at one of them Orc heavies we seen wearin grey armor and it barely pierced the thing. Whatever it is their wearin, it's made of harder material than our Obsidian armor.
23rd of Walmek
The Orc armies have finally completed their encirclement of the City. It's been several days now, and things have seemed go quiet. Though I expect that will change soon.

18th of Boramer
The Centaurs have attempted many time to break the fortifications holding them in, only to be knocked back by crossbow bolts and lighting shooting down from the clear blue sky. A surprise that killed one of our warriors, as he was out scouting the fortifications. The power these Orcs wield...well I'll just say, I hope we never have to face them.
19th of Boramer
The fighting for the City, began with the Orcs sweeping attacks to the left, right and center of the City. The air crackled all day from the lighting that showered down out of nowhere onto the City, blowing whole units apart. The Orcs pulverized the flimsy defenses the Centaurs had setup earlier and got to work ripping into the City. The grey clad warriors were the first into the place, blazing a path forward. Their elite fighters not far behind them catching the brunt of the Centaur's counter attacks. By about midday half the City was in ruins, and thousands of vruls were in the sky.
25th of Boramer
Today saw the heaviest of the fighting, with Orcs capturing more than half of the City. The Centaurs fighting with spear and sword now, are having a hard time holding back the Orc armies. It won't be long now, before the City falls.
27th of Boramer
This will be my last report. The Orcs have captured the City, and what they have done to the Centaurs...I pray to Reordan that we never have to face them.

The Way Ahead
What do you do when you don't fit in? Edwin never really felt many connections to other people, but as a physics student, that was fine. He didn't really need it, anyway. He was content to peel back the mysteries of the universe... not that there were many left to find. Modern-day research was just too well-established, too well-trodden for any single enthusiast to make any significant headway. But that doesn't apply to other worlds. Not ones where magic and Skills run rampant, where well-defined roles and Classes dominate much of society with little room for novel experimentation from its residents. That kind of world would be perfect for an overeager, newly-minted Alchemist to make his mark. Things are never that easy, though. The Way Ahead is a very slice-of-life story following the story of someone trying to find his place in a world that doesn't know what to do with him. Expect lots of science, lots of alchemy, a few sarcastic quips by the System, and lots of exploration involving the world, self-discovery, and above all, science. After all, further research is always required. Updates every other day at 9 AM PST. Congratulations! For writing a story during the month of November, you have unlocked the Royal Road Writathon Participant path!
