"Our universe grants every soul a twin -- a reflection of themselves -- the kindred spirit -- And no matter where they are or how far away they are from each other -- even if they are in different dimensions, they will always find one another. This is destiny; this is love."

- Julie Dillon

"Internships."

"Disgostang."

"During the Sports Festival, you guys got a number of offers for internships." Your teacher stepped aside to reveal the chalkboard, where he had written your classmates' offers up on the board.

And holy shit.

The amount of offers Todoroki and Bakugou had was immense. Bakugou had 3556 offers, and Todoroki had 4423 offers.

How much do you wanna bet his father is in there?

Yours was sitting at 1034 offers, which you didn't think was possible, but you were proud nonetheless. Mineta mentioned that you and Todoroki had more due to being popular soulmates, but he was quickly shut up when Sero taped his mouth closed and threw him in the back corner of the classroom.

"You guys will decide who you will take for your apprenticeship, along with your hero names."

Murmuring rose in the classroom after the mention of hero names, and even you started getting excited. You hadn't even thought about it before.

You were thinking Potato Scallop.

Everyone was given a board to write their hero names on, and when yours was passed to you, you realised you actually had no clue what your name was going to be. Trying to peer at other people's decisions, some had ones that suited their quirk really well, and some just did something as simple as their names (e.g. Todoroki's being Shoto).

When everyone announced their hero names (Bakugou's being turned down multiple times for being too aggressive and threatening, ending with him having no official name), and it was now your turn.

Except you didn't have anything.

"What do you mean you don't have one?"

You laughed nervously, scratching the side of your forehead as you stood at the lecture podium, the whole class staring at you expectantly. "Yeah, I uh. . . Don't have anything. I haven't really thought about it."

"You haven't thought about it once?" Momo asked, frowning and tilting her head in that adorable way she does it.

"No, I haven't. I wasn't really planning on becoming a hero."

"Wait, what?"

'Good going, dingus. You do realise people give a shit about you now, right? They're not just gonna be like, "Huh, lol." anymore.'

'Shut up, Syd.'

'Wait, Syd?'

'Syd the Subconscious. You've been popping up in my head lately and I've decided to name you.'

'But Syd is. . .'

'Syd's what? Say it. SAY IT.'

'I don't care that you broke your elbow.'

'Nice.'

"(Y/N)–"

"DID YOU KNOW THAT THE HASHTAG SYMBOL IS TECHNICALLY CALLED AN OCTOTHORP?!"

Silence filled the classroom for a moment before Mina mumbled, "That's a whack-as word."

"Right?"

"Okay, back to the point," Kaminari said, leaning forward in his seat and looking at you questionably. "Why did you go into the hero course if you didn't want to become a hero?"

"I said I wasn't originally planning to become one. Meaning I had decided to become one coincidentally when the spots for the course opened up."

"What made you change your mind?"

Your heart froze for a moment, and your mind was running through the lyrics of Let It Go, telling yourself to not let them in or let them see. There were only two people aware of your situation with your parents, that being your aunt and. . .

"That's none of your damn business, Dunce Face."

"What? Bakugou, I thought you of all people would want to know."

"No, I just know when to mind my own business."

You didn't know what to do. You were beginning to break out into a cold sweat, and you could feel the non-existent breeze on your face and hands. You started scratching at your marked arm subconsciously, seeing dark spots block your vision.

"Someone take (Y/N) outside," Midnight said, noticing your behaviour.

"I'll go, Miss–"

"I'll go." Bakugou interrupted Midoriya, standing up as his chair scraped loudly against the ground.

Midoriya, frowning, said, "But I'm her best friend–"

"Yeah, you haven't really been a great best friend lately, though." With that, Bakugou quickly paced toward you, leaving Midoriya speechless as he sat back down.

Your breathing was becoming difficult to control as you desperately looked around for something you could centre your gaze on, finding nothing.

Todoroki, already standing up, paused as he watched you and Bakugou.

"Hey," Bakugou said, leaning down so he could meet your gaze, which was now pointed at the podium. "Feeling lonely?"

Recognising the words and the person speaking them, your eyes locked with Bakugou's familiar red ones.

"There you go," he said. "Let's go take a break, yeah?"

You shakily nodded your head. He grabbed your hand and led you outside, leaving everyone in the classroom quiet.

"Was that even Bakugou?" Sero asked.

"Dude, I don't know." Kaminari replied.

"Yo, Todoroki, are you alright?" Kirishima asked, turning to look at the boy, standing next to his desk as he watched the classroom door. He hadn't moved from when he went to approach his soulmate, instead watching Bakugou calm her down in a way he didn't even know how.

"Bakugou seems to know an awful lot about (Y/N)," he mumbled, but the whole class still heard him, having gotten used to his low volume.

"Yeah, even I was surprised. Although, they do seem close." Uraraka said, turning to look at Midoriya. "What did he mean by you weren't being a good friend, Izuku? I thought you were being a wonderful friend."

"Not if he knows more about her personal life than me." The freckled boy replied. Shaking his head, he leaned back in his seat, his finger tapping the desk rapidly. "I fully believed that everything she told me was true. I didn't even question it."

"Why does he know more about my soulmate than I do with her?" Todoroki asked himself.

"You do realise that you've only known each other for a few months, right?" Sero said, causing Todoroki to look at him. "Whereas Bakugou has known her since childhood."

"Midoriya has known her since childhood. Why doesn't he know as much as him?"

Midoriya sighed, "She's always been the wall that kept me and Bakugou from fighting, so to speak. She's both of our friends, but when the time comes to it, she will go against Bakugou when he's about to hurt me.

"When we both entered UA, we were relatively close, having been so for a while in middle school because Bakugou had gone off the rails a little bit. But now that I think about it, she's gotten rather close to him again. Some of the things they talk about seem like things they've known about each other for years; things I didn't even know about."

"I should know more about her. She's my soulmate, not his." Todoroki muttered.

"Again, look at the amount of time he's known her compared to you." Sero said, ignoring the glare the boy sent him.

"I'm going to go after her–"

"Just leave her with Bakugou, Todoroki." Aizawa said, emerging from his cocoon. "Until you know her better, just let him handle it."

Todoroki, clenching his fists and glaring at his teacher (who was staring sternly back at him), sat back down in his seat.

"You alright?" Bakugou asked, sitting down next to you on the stairs.

Your head was leaning against the cool metal railing, and you sighed in response. "I feel like an idiot. They're gonna think I'm weird."

"You are."

"Fuck you, too."

"They're not gonna act like you're fucking contagious. They're just gonna be wondering if you're alright. Yeah, they're gonna be confused as to why you had a panic attack in the middle of the classroom, but you just tell them to mind their own damn business."

"I'm not gonna tell them that."

"Whatever."

A comfortable silence filled the space between you two, before you spoke up again, "Todoroki looked upset."

"He'll get over it."

"No, but, should I have told him about my parents?"

"Do you feel comfortable with doing that yet?"

He had a point.

You were not comfortable enough to tell Todoroki about the mess that was last year. Despite the things that happened between you two, you still didn't know much about one another. It didn't help that you two were always having arguments. It made you think that maybe–

"Do you wanna ditch?"

"Do I wanna fucking what?"

Bakugou was looking at you dead in the eye after asking the question, like what he asked of you was something normal. "I said, do you want to fucking ditch?"

"Bitch, you can't ditch. You're incapable."

"I'll fucking ditch if it makes you feel better."

"But this is a Todoroki x Reader fanfiction. I can't ditch with you, I have to ditch with him."

"Bitch, what the fuck are you even talking about?"

"Fine, I'll ditch."

"Let's go then. Hurry your ass up before I snitch."

"You wouldn't."

"Oh, I fucking would."

You snorted and followed Bakugou around the corner, trying to be discreet, not seeing Todoroki at the edge of the stairs. Watching you two disappear, a feeling stirred up in his chest, burning his heart as he glared at the two of you.
