Riloth the 19th the 550th
Dear Spellbook,
I want to murder Dagmar. Did you know she trims her toenails with a knife at the dining table? She just leaves them there! And the gas! Gods, a diet of berries, dandelions, and rabbit have not been kind to her digestion system, or mine for that matter. Thankfully, the bathroom is equipped with a hole that leads somewhere even the smell of her noxious output can't escape—or maybe nowhere? Oh yeah, we found a bathing room about a month back. I don't know how we missed it on the dormitory floor, but there's a small room with a bathing pool and privy.
I thought I was done journaling in you like this, but I just need to talk to somebody else. I'm sure you know, but I've learned a new one of your tricks.
I can copy spellforms from memory! I entered my mental vault one day to review my spells, and some preserved memories of my parents, when an idea struck. I ran to your representation there and flipped back to an accounting of a time I was studying the spellform for Dispel Magic, and there it was! The whole spell, perfectly preserved in you. I made a template from the memory, and then as an experiment tried to draw it in your pages. It worked!
I now have a complete copy of the Tower wizard's spellbook along with Floating Disk and Shadow Blade, the only spells of Barion's I'd tried to learn, but I’d given up on Shadow Blade when Dagmar had admonished me to stay focused. The brief attempt was enough for me to copy it with your aid.
After that, I found I could copy the spells my mother taught me into my vault, though I could not put those down as spellforms. It's comforting to know they are not lost, even if I don't currently have them memorized.

Dear Spellbook,
Demons are very patient, it seems. Or maybe just extremely spiteful. I have been using the time well, but gods please make this stop. I've been training every day, but I'm going mad here.
I created a gateless version of Floating Disk that costs less than three Will. With the aid of the texts here, I even recreated an old spell. The old spellbooks are not as complicated as I first thought. The spell components themselves are simple to describe through language, it's the gates and paths which words struggle to convey. As I've said before, the Arcane Realm is ineffable and trying to map it is a road to madness.
I understand better now how traditional wizardry worked before spellforms. Wizards found those with similar affinities to Fonts, and taught them the spells and the way of creating a path, allowing the apprentices to make the spells work for them.
Anyway, I made the spell Catapult. Essentially, it allows me to throw things really fast. I can shoot a knife out of my hand at a speed and accuracy that rivals Dagmar, or use it to send something flying that's within sixty feet of me. I can’t yet write the spellforms for these spells, but I don’t really need them now that I can review their creations through you in my mental vault.
My spell constructs are still decaying extremely slowly. I had thought that was an effect of the resets, but now I suspect it was your doing all along.
Dagmar began forging weapons to practice her rune smithing. She seems content, but now we spar with real weapons, and she trusts my Mage Armor's ability to protect me from her blows much more than I do. It has improved our relationship, though it's a great outlet for pent-up aggression. Ren’s advice to practice without Mage Armor is all well and good when you aren’t facing off with a disgruntled dwarven roommate that’s been force-fed a very leafy diet for months.

Dear Spellbook,
The fire finally subsided! The demon gave up, or got distracted. Either way, we are heading into town to get everyone. Obviously, I’m taking you with me. Let's go!
