《The Eightfold Fist》Author's Note and The Future

So this note has been a long time coming.
First off - thanks to everyone who's rated, followed, favorited, and viewed this story. This was the first big writing project I ever did and I've made a lot of good memories along the way. I also learned many valuable lessons as well, which brings me to my next point. This story will not be continued. The further I got into this story, the more issues I ran into. I could paid bandaids over many of them, but eventually I realized the whole foundation to the story posed problems that would prevent me from going any further. To name a few:
- POV Creep
- Far too many characters to keep a focused narrative
- And many of these characters had little to differentiate them from other characters
- Muddled character arcs and a desire to move the characters out of school and age them up
I'm not saying a story like The Eightfold Fist can't be done correctly; it's just that you need to set it up correctly from the start, and with the benefit of hindsight, that's something I failed to do.
With that being said - the concept behind this story is not entirely over. The basis for this story will be rebooted as Destiny Marine, which should drop the week of February 13. All the issues from above will be corrected in the rewrite - the story will only follow Isaac's POV, every character that appears has a purpose and plan for their future, and the characters have been aged up to their early twenties.
Again, I appreciate all the support during the nearly two years of writing this. If you'd like to see the continuing adventures of Isaac, Reed, and (eventually) Audrey again, I highly recommend checking out Destiny Marine once it's published. Until next time.

Bad Luck
Luck's ideal version of a journey to another world involves many things. Those things do not include unhelpful fellow otherworlders, a bad guy so nice that he makes the good guys look bad, and pets that end up smarter than him. Unfortunately, when you're just an unlucky side character in a half assed isekai plot, that's exactly what you end up with. (Rewritten version: 300 Moons Till Disconnect)
8 145Is Lucas Destined to Die in the New World?
Lucas imagined himself doing grander things in life; after all, he put in his own blood, sweat, and tears, and got himself a master's degree in English. Maybe he'd be the next best-selling author, or maybe the most popular late night TV show host. However, life didn't give him anything more than a management position at the local burger joint. Day in and day out, he flipped burgers, swept floors, and made weekly schedules that his employees ignored. All he had known for the past five years of his life was pure misery. Then after one night of drunken revelry, he found himself in an unfamiliar world, but he knew all the gimmicks. He knew these stories had quirks he could manipulate- he could put all his stats into magic and become the best wizard in the world, or he could dump all his stats into strength and become a veritable warrior. But once again, just like Earth, this new world seemed to have different plans for him. Instead, he was given a luck stat of 0 and a skill that forced him into danger where there should have been none. Why is this nerdy, magical paradise trying to kill him? Content warnings are there to give me some creative legroom later. There's not an excess of any gruesome content in the story, and what is there is tastefully sprinkled in. This is a LitRPG. Updates are twice a week on Mon/Fri plus some extras here and there.
8 103Adventures of Stephen Silworth
Stephen has a strange job. He is someone whose duty is to draw the line between the civlized world and the magical entities faring in or around the society. His job is rare one. There are almost no one who is capable of doing it. Whether it be a monster, spirit or an undead, he knows how to get rid of them, yet sometimes his customers do not appreciate his efforts. Even though life is hard, he, or rather what happens to him, gives a humorous taste to these stories, but considering the fact that being funny is relative, you don't have to process this paragraph. These creatures, which humanity branded disastrous, destructive and detrimental, can either be helpful or harmful, though Stephen has to deal with all of them, depending on the needs of his clients. He is the only one capable of doing this job right, helping the ones that have no interes in his strange life what so ever.
