《Brother of Wind {Book 8: the Sons of Garmadon}》chapter 10

"I don't get it. Why was the baby wrapped in a map?" Lloyd asked, the Ninja now gathered in the dining room.
"I don't know. Maybe they didn't have any diapers either." Cole suggested.
"This part here looks like it could be the central part of Ninjago." Harumi pointed to the map as it was spead out on the table.
"And the X. You think the third Oni Mask could be hidden there?" Nya asked. It's true there was a big red X just in the middle of drawn leaves.
"Primeval's Eye!" Lloyd exclaimed.
"My mother used to tell me about this place. It's an uncharted vast wilderness of death." He explained.
"Heart warming." Kai added.
"Her friend, an archaeologist, I think his name was Dr. Yost, he had gone in to map the area. But he never returned." Lloyd pointed back to the map.
"I don't want to say it, but it sounds like the perfect place to hide something you don't want anyone to find." Nya said.
Then Morro walked in, wet from the rain. As soon as he did, the rocking of the boat continued. It seemed that Morro was helping the Bounty sail smoothly with his power but in doing so he got exposed to the rain.
"Oh my goodness." Nya said, getting up.
"No, it's okay, I love my unpaid job." Morro grabbed his towel from the hooks on the wall. Nya flicked off the visible water on Morro while he himself dried himself with a slight breeze and towel.
The PA machine on the wall flickered it's screen. That's not anything normal.
Morro looked over to Cole. He held up a cup as he held the baby.
"Cole." Morro said. Cole looked at his hand then Morro. Like five times.
"Tea." Cole said.
"Tea? You can't feed a baby tea!" Nya yelled.
"Why not? He likes it. He won't drink anything else." Cole ringed the cup.
Then the room went dark with a sound of machinery shutting down.
"What happened to the lights?" Kai asked.
"Get to the bridge. Quick!" Lloyd yelled. They all ran out of the room but Harumi took a stop to grab the map amd take it with her.
"Pixal, what's happening?" Lloyd asked stepping into the room where Zane was resting. The lights were off and no response.
"Pixal! Come in!" Lloyd yelled.
"Must be a power failure." Kai said.
"Really? What told you that?" Morro asked.
"Or it's a trap!" Jay raised his hand.
"Freaking out isn't going to help us." Cole said.
"Jay might be right. The backup generators would have kicked in. This is something else." Nya said. Sirens started to wail.
"Emergency. Emergency." Pixal's voice rang through.
What happened, Pix?" Lloyd asked.
"I'm detecting a foreign presence has been introduced into my system." Pixal said.
"Foreign? What are you talking about?" Lloyd asked.
"It appears we are being tracked. I have lost control of the ship." Pixal said.
"How did something get in?" Jay asked.
"Jay you're right, your previous statement, not that one." Morro said. Zane's power source was exposed and sparks jumped out of it. Then it clicked.
"The trap. Something was planted on Zane. They wanted us to take him in!" Kai exclaimed.
"Proximity alarm. Something is approaching the Bounty fast." Pixal warned.
"Onscreen!" Nya yelled.
"It is Samurai X." Pixal stated.
"Oh. He must be here to help us out." Cole deduced.

"I'm afraid that is unlikely." Pixal replied.
"What do you mean?" Morro asked.
"Because my system is overrun." Pixal said.
"You're making no sense, Pix. What are you talking about?" Kai asked.
"This would be a good time to make a minor confession." Pixal started.
"I am Samurai X."
"What? Are you serious?" Kai asked.
"How is that possible?" Nya asked.
"How can you be Samurai X?" Lloyd asked.
"Totally called it!" Jay yelled.
"You did not!" Cole refuted.
"Did too!"
The Bounty rocked around as something hit one of the thrusters.
'I'm going to need a bit of help.'
Morro extended his staff.
"You're right." Lloyd said.
"See! Lloyd believes me." Jay said.
"HE WAS TALKING TO MORRO!" Cole yelled.
"That makes more sense." Jay said.
"We probably needed that, right?" Harumi asked, referring to the smoking thruster.
Samurai X's mech cricled around for another shot.
"The mech is targeting the second aft thruster." Nya exclaimed.
"Lloyd, if we lose the second--"
"I know, I know. We'll drop out of the sky like a brick." Lloyd prepared his arnis sticks.
"Nya, try to find the foreign agent." Lloyd pointed.
"Jay, keep that lightning off our back." He continued.
"The rest of you, follow Morro." Lloyd said.
Cole handed the baby off to Lloyd.
"I gotta get you two to safety." Lloyd told Harumi. She followed Lloyd below deck as the others carried their assignments out.
The storm grew and the rain seemed to fall harder. But that just made room for more thunder.
"Jay, you have to take care of that lighting." Morro said.
"I'm not sitting on the lighting rod." Jay said.
.......???
"Inside joke. Got it." Jay said. As another lighting stuck, Jay held out his hand, the bolt sitting in his palm before Jay redirected it away.
"You're welcome." He bent over, slightly spent.
"There!" Cole shouted, pointing at the Samurai X mech that speed by.
"Can't see a thing in this storm." Cole squinted.
"Time to light this place up." Kai ran forwards. He held his hands close, summoning a ball of fire in his hands, gradually letting it expand before he threw it into the air. It provided a warm glow over everything.
"Have you guys got a visual?" Lloyd asked running onto the rain soaked deck, taking out his arnis sticks.
"There!" Morro exclaimed, leaning towards the edge. The mech was circling around the left side. Lloyd lit up his hands.
. . .
Inside the bridge, Nya hear a small sound, like constant ticking. She examined the exposed wiring in the walls. There was that clicking sound again. A computer shut off. Nya carefully crept her way towards Zane. She tapped her hand on the side of the monitorz hoping to turn it back on. She turned around. Nya let out a scream as a metal spider with a purple glow jumped at her.
Well. She located the foreign agent.
. . .
Lloyd's attacks were missing each time. It was limited movevent against an aerial opponent. And yet, Lloyd still managed to land one strike. Then the mech landed down on the deck with a heavy thump.
"What was that?!" Harumi peeker her head out.
"What are you doing here?!" Cole shouted.
"You can't really expect me to stay hidden!" Harumi exclaimed.
"Then at least grab a sword!" Jay exclaimed, passing a spare katana to her.
"We have one thruster left, if it's gone, it's all over!" Morro shouted. Jay ran forwards but with his small size, against a giant mech, he didn't do so well. Cole went straight in to back up his friend but the mech wrapped it's hand arouns Cole while swinging a sword to block off Kai.

He barely managed to hold onto the rop attached to the mast. The mech threw Cole to the ground. The winds shook the Bounty again, needing Morro to counteract it and keep this old ship in the air. Then, the mech targeted Lloyd. The mech swung its sword and cut one of the sail's ropes. And leave it to Morro to take care of that. He grabbed the loose rope to once again, keep this ship from falling. The mech advanced on Lloyd, keeping the offence until he was at the edge of the deck, pressed against the rail.
With a quick dodge, the large sword was lodged in the wood and Lloyd ran up it. Cole recovered from his hard touch down and ran to help Kai back on deck. Meanwhile, Lloyd was hacking away at the head of the mech, a pilot visible inside now known to be Pixal.
But still, the large mech gained a strength advantage and hit Lloyd to the ground, hitting his head.
"ARGH!" Lloyd exclaimed. Morro's head al.ost flew forwards from blunt force that never hit him. Jay ran to help him.
Samurai X's sword raised again. Then swung down at Lloyd. Thanfully, Harumi finally moved and blocked the attack. She looked at Lloyd. The Ninja smiled in return. It was fine until the mech grabbed Harumi into its clutches.
"Lloyd!" She screamed. Samurai X took a dive off the Bounty.
"Harumi!" Lloyd yelled. He hit his lip. Lloyd sheathed his weapons on his back then backed up. With a running start, he jumped after the princess.
"At least warn me first!" Morro shouted, letting Jay hold the rope as he threw his staff in Lloyd's direction.
The staff speed through the air beside Lloyd. The Ninja reached for Harumi's hand but they just missed. Lloyd panicked and his hand slipped against the metal of the mech. His first thought was to send Morro's staff back where it came from. Lloyd climbed onto the center of the mech.
"Pixal! You have to stop this!" He exclaimed.
"There is no Pixal, only the Quiet One." The pilot said.
Lloyd then took both his arnis sticks and jabbed them right into the joints of the mech. Samurai X ejected from the mech and flew up to the Bounty, leaving the pair in green on the falling armour.
"I did not think that through." Lloyd said.
As Morro grabbed the rope from a slipping Jay, he held his hand up and caught his staff that darted towards his back. Everyone paused. They looked at Morro and his staff. Then, Samurai X landed on the deck. Everyone switched their gazes between the nindroid and Morro.
Morro reteacted his staff and held it in his mouth as he made a quick knot around the mast. The others nodded and Morro jumped off the ship in search of Lloyd.
Speaking of, Lloyd was trying to loosen the restraints around Harumi's waist.
"We're...we're...we're gonna--" She panicked.
"Look at me! We're gonna get outta this! You hear me?!" Lloyd shouted.
Just then with a strong gust of wind, the gray clouds moved away, revealing the location of the two falling. Morro had cleared the sky.
"Haha!" Lloyd exclaimed as his brother was speeding towards him.
"The map! If he doesn't make it in time... Maybe we can use it to parachute down!" Harumi suggested, pulling up the blanket that she apparently had the whole time.
"What is this, some story online? That's never gonna work!" Lloyd yelled.
"Morro's gonna make it." Lloyd said.
The suit should break your fall.
Then an explosion at the Bounty. Morro whipped around during his free fall. The second engine was out. He looked back to Lloyd.
'Go! I got this! They need you!"
Lloyd waved his arm at Morro.
Morro gave a glare.
'If you die from this, that's your fault.'
'Thanks.'
Lloyd then bit his lip to think.
'But I know you won't.'
Morro turned aroundz opened his glider and flee back up to the Bounty.
"Okay! Uh, cha ge of plans! The suit will break your fall!" Lloyd placed her inside.
"What? No! What about you?" Harumi asked.
"Sorry. Only room for one." Lloyd smiled.
"No! I need you!" Harumi exclaimed.
"And I need that map." Lloyd took the map. The jumped up. The weight of the mech made Harumi fall faster.
"I didn't think this through either." Lloyd said, falling still. Fortunately, Harumi landed with a crash but unharmed. Lloyd became a hypocrite and used the map as a parachute. He was also able to land, but not without a dislocated shoukder and maybe some bruises.
At the same time, Nya was fighting thst metal spider after a bang from outside.
"Get off! Get off me! Get off!" Nya yelled. She slipped and fell back as the spider was impaled with a spear.
"What in the name of Ninjago is happening around here?!" Zane yelled. He was back online. He unplugged all the wired around him.
"Uh." Nya said.
"Foreign agent has been purged from my system. Commencing system reboot in thirty seconds." Pixal's voice exclaimed.
Morro landed back on the deck where the three other Ninja had Samurai X surrounded.
"So how did the thruster blow up?!" Morro yelled.
"She threw the sword." Kai said. Pixal then rebooted and her face was visibly shown. Zane and Nya ran out.
"Perfect. All my effort to keep us flying is thrown overboard." Morro said.
"Any ideas?" Kai asked everyone.
"Not a one." Zane said. The ship was going down.
"Yeah, me either." Kai said.
"Pray to Wojira!" Jay held on for life.
"What?" Morro asked.
"Perhaps if we can create enough drag with the sails, we may be able to achieve a controlled crash." Zane said.
"What sails?" Kai pointed that the sails had holes from the attack.
"Morro! Save our lives, please!" Jay yelled.
"Lloyd has somehow dislocated his shoulder and suffered trauma to many of his body parts, I am not doing the best right now so Nya!" Morro exclaimed.
"Use the rain!" He pointed. Nya was shocked.
"The rain?" She asked.
"The rain." Morro said.
Nya ran to the front if the deck and held her hands out. She had to focus every psrt of her mind and body for this. Every drop. Each individual drop of rain that fell down. She felt them. From the rain on the deck to the drops falling around her.
The water moved towards the bottom of the ship, slowly creating a sheet of dew. It grew bigger with every addition, allowing Nya to have more control as it grew. She felt her hands tracing along the sheet even without touching it. Then she lifted her hands.
"Ha! It's working!" Jay exlciamed.
"Brace for impact!" Kai exclaimed.
"Cole, below deck, now!" Morro yelled.
"Oh no!" Cole exclaimed, rushing into the sleeping quaters. He wrapped his arms around the baby for safe keeping.
They weren't able to slow completely, but they were able to land with no casualties. There was a still a crash, yhe Bounty wouldn't fly. But it was in one piece.
Everyone groaned as they got up.
"Everyone okay?" Jay asked, helping Nya up.
"You okay too, little buddy?" Cole asked the baby.
"Zane."
He turned around. Samurai X removed their helmet, revealing Pixal's face that he waited everyday to see in person again.
"All this time, it was you. Why didn't you tell me?" He asked, gently holding her hands.
"I had to keep my identity a secret to protect those I cared about." Pixal said.
"You don't have to lie to me. You didn't like being stuck in my head." Zane felt guilt for all that time back then.
"There was that too." Pixal smiled.
"From now on, no more secrets." Zane promised.
"Lloyd and Harumi?" Kai asked, looking to Morro.
"I'm not dead so, they should be fine." Morro nodded
. . .
"Ow." Lloyd said as Harumi used the map to make a sling for his arm.
"There." She finished the last knot. Lloyd looked around at the lush forest that surrounded them. A whole new part of Ninjago.
"I think we're on our own."
