Preserving the biodiversity of earth was one of the greatest challenges of the Beast. How does one choose what life to bring and what life to lose? Unlike Noah and his ark, the Beast needed to survive generations, and would never return to Old Earth. Many of the species selected were chosen for their usefulness to humanity; horses, cattle, dogs, chickens. Others, like the many species of rodents, and the cats, slipped aboard during construction and never left. But perhaps the greatest accomplishment was the preservation of marine life.
