Since it is the last chapter before Christmas I thought I would say an early Merry Christmas to you all!
It was near the end of the year and Y/n was with Steven and Greg who were chatting about fireworks and walking down the street towards the U-Stor, carrying a cardboard cut of Greg.
"And I really like the ones that shoot up kind of spirally with the long tails." Steven says to his dad and Y/n.
"Steven, I'm slipping." Greg suddenly says and Steven looks at his end of the cut out. "Hold that end up a little more."
"Oh, sorry." Steven says as Y/n helps him lift his end up more.
"That's okay. I'm not sure the "Summer Wax Special" sign was that effective anyway. But I can't bring myself to throw myself out. Might as well store it for the rest of the winter." Greg says.
"So, which firework is your favorite, Y/n?" Steven asks.
"Hmm." Y/n thinks "I quite like the big shell ones." Y/n answers.
"Oh yeah, Those ones are really big and loud." Steven says impressed. "What about you dad?" He then asks.
"Oh. Uh, I don't know. I just like watching them together with you." Greg says truthfully.
Steven blushes happily. "Yeah, me too! I can't wait for New Year's Eve tomorrow. It feels like I've waited a whole year!"
"Well, you feel that way for a reason." Greg starts to say as he, Steven and Y/n arrive at the U-Stor. Greg opens his storage unit and sees that it is filled to the brim with all sort of belongings and junk. He then holds up a coil of hose and tries to see where it can fit. He places it around the neck of a flamingo ornament in the front, and the junk pile rumbles and spills out of the storage unit.
"Woah!" Steven and Y/n says together as they step back.
Greg looks at the junk now. "I haven't really cleared this place out since your mom..." Greg starts but he coughs to cover himself from having to talk about it. "Maybe this is good timing! A new year coming up... I should just get rid of all this stuff."
"A fresh start is always good." Y/n comments.
Steven picks up a jacket and a sweater from the pile. "I could take these off your hands." He says to his dad.
Greg chuckles. "That's a start, but I'll need a little more help than that and this guy's not gonna do it." Greg says as he points to the cardboard Greg and scratches his head. "Who would organize a mess this big though?"
"Ah! I know just the Gem!" Steven cries and he runs off leaving Y/n and Greg behind.
Greg and Y/n watch Steven go as they then turn back to the storage unit.
"Geez, this is going to be quite the job."
"Well, If Steven is bringing who I think he is then they have quite a...unique sense of cleanliness." Y/n says.
"It's Pearl, right?" Greg asks and Y/n nods.
It was a little while later and Steven had returned now but instead of Pearl he had brought Amethyst.
"Here's Amethyst!" Steven cheers.
"Sur-prise." Amethyst says lazily.
"Oh." Greg says awkwardly.
"Something wrong?" Steven asks.
"Well, no. I just..." Greg stammers.
"We thought you meant Pearl." Y/n admits as he pushes back a box that was about to fall over.

"What?!" Steven cries. "I'm not letting Pearl see this! Amethyst's room is full of junk. She knows how to handle a mess."
"I don't know about this." Greg says hesitantly.
Amethyst walks up to Greg now. "Hey, man, it's cool. I've seen your junk before." She says before she starts surveying Greg's storage unit.
"Context Y/n. Context." Y/n quietly says to himself.
"What you need here is a system, something to separate the trash from the garbage." Amethyst says now.
Steven starts writing on a box. "Well, how 'bout this?" He says getting everyone's attentions. "I made organizational boxes." He points to three empty boxes in front of him. "This way we can sort everything into easy categories: keep, sell, burn. What do you think?"
"I think it's quite a good idea, separating the items." Y/n says.
Greg chuckles nervously. "I don't know if we should burn anything."
Amethyst gently punches Greg on the shoulder. "Ah, come on, Greg! What are you afraid of?"
"Fire?" Greg says back.
Amethyst just laughs, walks around the storage unit and grabs a boot. "Keep." She then grabs a broken tennis racket. "Keep." She then grabs a broken checkerboard. "Keep."
Greg runs over to Amethyst. "Woah! Hold on. Aren't we supposed to be throwing stuff away?"
Amethyst puts her items into the 'Keep' box. "Are you crazy?! You've got some seriously good junk in here, man, like..."
Steven notices Y/n rummaging through a box of books now . "BOOOOKS!" He says excitedly.
"Ah, so, books are cool again." Greg comments as he and Steven begin to join Y/n in looking at the books.
"Yeah, ever since you guys grounded me from TV for a thousand years." Steven says.
"We did what now?" Greg asks confused.
"No matter how advanced technology becomes, you just can't beat the feeling of a book in your hands." Y/n says as he holds one up.
"Can I have these?" Steven asks his dad now.
"Uh, hold on. Let me see some of those first." Greg says as he examines the books in the box. "Yeah, I think you'll like this one and this one, and, uh..." He pulls out a book entitled "Passions of Xanxor" from the box. "Maybe we'll save this one for when you're a little older." Greg blushes and awkwardly tucks it under his arm.
"Greg, you sly dog." Y/n teases causing Greg to chuckle nervously and rubs his neck.
Steven carries the heavy box of books and sets it down outside the storage unit, while Amethyst rummages through the junk pile and putting everything in the 'Keep' box.
"Ha! You bought this?!" She asks as she tosses a singing fish placard over her shoulder. "Ha!"
Greg looks at some of the items in the pile now. "Uh... I guess I don't need these old dumbbells." He takes it from the 'Keep' box and drops it to the 'Sell' box.
Amethyst snatches the dumbbell up. "Ah, come on. Don't you want to get yoked?!" She asks before she shapeshifts into the Purple Puma and starts flexing. Purple Puma then tackles Steven and playfully wrestles with him, rolling out of the storage unit.
"Come on, Amethyst. Knock it off." Greg says a little uncomfortable.
Y/n notices a broken picture on the ground nearby now and he is careful to pick it up. Greg notices this and Y/n hands it to him. Greg looks down at the broken frame holding a photo of him and Rose together. "Oh, no. How did this happen?"

Steven walks over with Amethyst as they look at it now. "A photo of you and Mom." He says looking at it.
Amethyst blushes furiously and walks away from the three to look at more junk instead.
"Ah, it's...it's okay. It's just the frame." Greg comments as he puts the photo down somberly.
"Heeeeey!" Amethyst calls out now as the three look in her direction. "I found something that definitely doesn't belong with all this junk."
"Is it the deed to my uncle's mansion?" Greg asks hopefully.
Amethyst carries over a stack of VCR tapes. "Even better." She spreads the tapes out in a neat line proudly.
"Is that... "Li'l Butler"?" Greg asks in shock as he picks up two VCR tapes. "Oh, where have you been all these years?!" He laughs tearfully and holds the tapes against his chest.
♫ Li'l Butler, that's you! ♫ Amethyst sings.
"Amethyst, what's "Li'l Butler"?" Steven asks.
"Oh, man! Steven, we used to watch these all the time when you were little. You gotta see this!" Greg says as he runs off, and carries a TV into the storage unit, and pops in one of the tapes.
"Hey! I..I'm still grounded, you know!" Steven says as he turns his back at the TV.
Y/n however looks at the screen.
"Come on. Just one, for old times sake." Amethyst says now.
"Okay, but just one." Greg says as he and Amethyst sit down to watch the TV as the tape begins to play. Y/n puts a hand on his hip as he waits to see what the fuss is all about and Steven peeks at the TV from the corner of his eye in curiosity.
On the TV, the intro to Li'l Butler and opening credits start to play as a gloved hand knocks on the door of a mansion and a wealthy family answers the door, finding Li'l Butler in a swaddle at their doorstep. They take Li'l Butler in and he begins to do all sort of chores for the family. Li'l Butler then stands at the doorway and utters his signature catchphrase. "You people have too much money!" Li'l Butler winks and the title card appears over him, ending the opening credits.
Steven was watching in awe. "Woah." He says before he gasps and quickly covers his face. "Ah, no! Grounded!" He says to himself hiding behind Y/n now. "Sh-sh-shouldn't we finish cleaning the storage unit?!"
Amethyst begins laughing, ignoring Steven. "Oh, man! Is this the Pilot? They didn't even have the dog yet." She says to
Greg starts laughing, ignoring Steven too. "Oh, yeah! They just had a cat named...Money!"
Greg and Amethyst laugh together, and Steven pops over angrily over the top of the couch to glare at them and Greg notices him now.
"Hey, Steven, it's getting pretty late. Why don't we all just call it a day? We can pick this up again tomorrow." Greg suggests.
Steven looks up at Y/n who just shrugs unsure as to what is going on.
"Uh... okay. I guess see you tomorrow, Dad!" Steven says as he and Y/n leave now.
"Did any of you order a baby?"
A laugher track is heard as Greg and Amethyst continue to watch the sitcom.
It was the next morning and Steven runs up to Peedee who was at the counter of Fry shop. "Hey. I'll take three breakfast only breakfast specials, please."
"Sure." Peedee says as he then turns and yells. "Ronaldo! Can I get a triple order of hashbrowns?"
"Yeah. My dad, Y/n and I got a big day cleaning the storage unit. Got to start the year off right, you know?" Steven says now making conversation.
"Wow! That's really practical of you, Steven." Peedee says impressed. "My dad and I are restocking all the condiments. I get to clean the bottles. We're supposed to wash them twice, but I always wash them three times. Odd numbers just feel cleaner."
Steven stares blankly at Peedee unsure what to say. "Hey, are you going to the New Year's fireworks tonight?" He asks changing the subject.
"Yeah!" Peedee says sounding excited. "It's supposed to be "pretty darn spectacular!" He says and points to an advertisement poster for the fireworks show with those words and Mayor Dewey's face on it. "Mayor Dewey's been setting up all morning." He chuckles. "There are gonna be blue ones!" He places Steven's order in a bag on the counter now. "I love the blue ones."
"It's gonna be so awesome." Steven says as he takes his order now.
Steven had gone to Y/n's house to get him and now the two had returned back to Greg's storage unit.
Y/n was sleepily finishing off his hash brown as Steven looked around but couldn't see Greg of Amethyst. "You guys?" He calls out but gets no response. "Dad?" He asks.
Y/n enters the storage unit now and he turn to Steven and points his thum behind him seemingly having found the pair in question.
Steven walks to where Y/ had pointed and he finds that Greg and Amethyst are still watching "Li'l Butler" on the TV.
"I'll look like a fool if I show up to school on just one pony!" A girl on the tv says.
"You people have too much money!" Greg and Amethyst say in time with Lil Buttler before they start to laughs with the laughter track.
"What a surprise. Li'l Butler does it again." Amethyst says.
"You can always count on Li'l B."
Amethyst chuckles. "Yeah. Everything's always right with him. One more?" She asks.
"Do it!" Greg says.
"Hey!" Steven calls to them covering his face, so he cant see the TV.
"Oh, Steven, Y/n! What are you doing coming over so late?" Greg asks.
"It's... morning." Y/n says sounding tired.
"Oh, wow. I guess we lost track of the time." Greg says a little surprised.
"You never stopped watching "Li'l Butler?!" Steven asks in shock now.
"When you get to season three, it really starts getting good. That's when the uptight neighbors, the Richingtons, move next-door. Ha! They're a riot!" Amethsyt laughs
"Well, I never!" A man on the Tv says.
"Well, I always!" Lil Buttler could be heard saying next.
Greg bursts out laughing with the laughter track.
"Well, shall we get started?" Y/n says.
"Oh, yeah." Greg starts to get up. "Uhh..."
But Amethyst halts Greg. "Ooh, this part is so good."
A horse neighs on the TV, and Greg and Amethyst burst out laughing with the laughter track.
"Were getting nothing done are we..." Y/n sighs.
"I guess the storage unit can wait." Steven says as he sets his food bag on the ground.
"Yeah, buddy. That sounds like a good idea." Greg says not looking away from the screen.
Amethyst notices the food bag. "Alright! Snacks!" She picks it up and begins eating.
"Come on Steven, these two are a lost cause right now." Y/n says now as he rubs his tired eyes and exits the storage unit.
"You want to just meet at the fireworks?" Steven asks the two now.
"Sure." Greg says as he eats the food with Amethyst.
"Okay..." Steven says unsure as he looks at Y/n waiting for him outside. "I'll see you there." He walks out now.
It was night time and the citizens of Beach City are seated on the beach. Garnet puts on the 'Cool Dad' jacket that Steven took from the storage unit earlier, while Pearl puts on the sweater.
Pearl was looking at her sweater. "Like this?" She asks
"Yeah! You guys are killin' it!" Steven says as he hands some pots and pans to Garnet and Pearl and one to Y/n. "Here are some pots and pans. We got to make lots of noise. Dad and I do this every year. I brought some for Amethyst, too. They should be here any second."
"Why would she come with Greg?" Pearl question and then gasps. "Are they hanging out again?"
"What do you mean, "again"?" Steven asks.
"They'd better not be watching that dumb show." Garnet says annoyed.
"You mean the Li'l Butler one?" Y/n comemnts.
"Kshhhh..." Garnet scoffs and clicks her teeth.
The citizens of Beach City starts chanting the countdown to the New Year fireworks in the background.
"Un-be-lievable! They really are!" Pearl says now. "They used to disappear for days, watching those obnoxious tapes over and over and over. Until..."
"Until what?" Y/n asks.
"I don't know." Pearl says as she ponders. "One day, they just... stopped."
The fireworks begin and the citizens cheer and applaud, while Steven, Y/n, Garnet and Pearl watch the fireworks in silence. Steven looks down timidly at his pan, grasping the handle, unwilling to play it without the presence of his dad. Y/n notices this now as he puts his hand on Steven's shoulder.
"It's okay buddy. My dad didn't come either." Y/n says sounding a little disappointed but he gives Steven a smile to try cheer him up.
"Happy New Year, Y/n and Steven!" Pearl says as she lightly hits her pan with a wooden spoon.
"How's my volume?" She asks them.
Garnet stands up now. "It's low." She comments and clangs her pots together loudly, causing everyone to cover their ears.
Y/n and Steven were stood outside of Greg's storage unit, glaring at it angrily, and walks in. Music is heard as a tape stops playing and whirs back on the TV.
Inside Greg hears a distant booming noises from outside. "What's that?" He asks before he realises what time it is. "I'm missing the fireworks! It's past midnight!" He gets up. "How did I get so sucked into this show again? It's like everything else just disappears!" He sighs as hetries to walk off now.
Steven and Y/n look at each othrer as they see Greg and Amethyst conversing and they hide behind a junk pile, peeking over them.
Amethyst grabs Greg's hand. "Woah, woah, don't go!" She pulls him back. "We're having a really good time!" She holds up a tape. "Here. Look. I've got the 2 part Hawaii special." She pushes the tape into the VCR, and it starts to play.
"But Steven really wanted me to do New Year's." Greg says.
"He'll be fine. He's Steven. He's tough." Amethyst brushes him off.
"I wanted to be there!" Greg says as he tries to walk off again.
Amethyst holds her hand out and halts Greg. "Here, here. It would have been like this." She shapeshifts into Steven. "Whoa! Fireworks!" She says then laughs like Steven. "Hey, Dad, come on! Now let's watch some Li'l Butler!"
Greg looks away uncomfortable now. "Amethyst, you know how I feel about shapeshifting."
"... Geez, sorry." Amethyst blushes dejectedly. "I was just trying to cheer you up." She shapeshifts into Greg and leans into Greg, twirling her hair. "Oh, that's righ I forgot. You're soooo sensitive." She says mockingly.
Greg backs away. "I know you like making me uncomfortable, but it's not funny. I can't stay here and humor you. I have to be there for my son." He tells her.
Amethyst shapeshifts back to herself with a look of rage. "Well, what about me, huh? I had someone who was always there for me until she started hanging out with YOU!" She says angry and points an accusatory finger.
"Don't do this, Amethyst. Seriously." Greg warns her.
"I bet you'd stay for her." Amethyst says now.
"You wouldn't." Greg tells her.
"What? Do this?" Amethyst asks before she shapeshifts into a copy Rose and Greg quickly turns around to avoid seeing her. Y/n and Steven continues watching in astonishment.
"Where are you going after Hawaii?" A voice says on the Tv says as it plays the lil buttler tape.
"Hey, Greg." Amethyst chuckles. "Turn around. Check it out!" She says as she walks closer to Greg and looms over him.
Greg starts holding his head in agony, eyes screwed shut. "I know you're doing it! I want to be friends again. I really do. But I can't let you do this to me again!"
Steven runs over and climbs atop the couch now not being able to take much more. "STOP!" He cires out.

The City of the Dragon Twisted
. 🐉 . The City of The Forever-Peace witnesses a pale young Buddhist Monk fighting his fearful thoughts of whether to cross the borders to Nepal and India against the death penalty. Why would that matter? In that September Autumn night of circa A.D.655, Emperor Táme’ Tie’-Zeon has been ruling an empire spanning 13,000 miles from the East to as far as the Baikal Sea in the Western Regions bordering the Middle East kingdom and the Rome Empire. Meanwhile, news has traveled that his Dharma-Son, Pan G. Monk faces an incredible Guillotine Execution that will chop off his waist in halves. The Empress Wǔl Zénder-Tan’ couldn't be careless. Why would that matter to the imperial family? Monks are just officials with equal vicarious duties and privileges.
