Ikki wakes up and finds himself in the Velvet Room.
Igor: Congratulations on your team's first victory. You really are a sight to behold.
Ikki: Thanks?
Igor: As such, I will now bestow upon you a gift worthy of your current state.
Ikki: A gift?
Agatha: We hope you'll treasure it.
I feel my bond with Igor growing deeper.
Hikaru gets up from bed, showers, brushes her teeth, does her hair, and gets dressed up.
Woman: Hikaru! Breakfast's ready!
Hikaru: Coming!
Hikaru was eating breakfast with her family. Then her mom spoke up to her.
Natsumi: So, Hikaru, how's college?
Hikaru: So far so good.
Natsumi: Now, are you done yet?
Hikaru: Excuse me?
Natsumi: For how long do you think you can keep this fashion designing nonsense?
Hikaru: Nonsense?
Hikaru's older sister spoke up.
Youko: Maybe it's about time to give it up?
Hikaru: I won't give it up! This is my dream!
Natsumi: You seriously think you're gonna survive off of that?
Hikaru: Just you watch. The Harajuku Culture Festival will be the turning point in my career!
Natsumi: Sure. Good luck.
Hikaru: I'm leaving. Thanks for the food.
Natsumi: Have fun at school~!
Hikaru leaves for school.
Suoh texts the others during class.
Suoh (Text): Hey guys, I've been thinking...
Airi (Text): What is it now, Suoh? We're in the middle of class!
Suoh (Text): We're gonna be working together in The MatriX from now on, right? Then that makes us a faction.
Suoh (Text): Every faction needs a name, doesn't it?
Airi (Text): You're texting us during class just for that!?
Suoh (Text): Sorry, I just realized it.
Ikki (Text): I see your point. We need a name.
Airi (Text): Ikki-kun! Don't add fuel to the fire!
Poppy Ω (Text): I agree with Suoh-san and Ikki-san. Having a name will help our team have a strong identity.
Airi (Text): Poppy!? What are you doing here?
Poppy Ω (Text): I've been living at Ikki-san's home.
Suoh (Text): You what?
Airi (Text): Is this true, Ikki-kun?
Ikki (Text): You bet.
Airi (Text): And when were you planning on telling us?
Ikki (Text): I don't know.
Suoh (Text): Okay, so about the name...
Airi (Text): Do we seriously have to do that now?
Suoh (Text): Not exactly now, but we definitely must come up with one by the end of the day.
Airi (Text): Let's talk about that with Kenzo after school.
The trio is sitting together during lunchtime.
Airi: I swear, you need to stop texting us during class.

Suoh: Sorry, when I think of something, I like to share it right away.
Airi: Fine. Let's just be done with this as quickly as possible.
Agatha: Hi there!
They see Agatha walking up to them with her lunch tray.
Agatha: Mind if I sit here?
Suoh: Oh, you're Agatha-san from our class.
Agatha: That's right.
Airi: You transferred to Chisai the same time as Ikki-kun. How is life at this school so far?
Agatha: Oh, it's been so much fun! It's just one amazing new experience after another.
Suoh: Are you sure you're talking about school?
Airi: Well, glad you're having fun.
Agatha: Yeah. I'm learning so much and feeling all kinds of new emotion. I don't know how to describe these emotions. It's like a... swoosh, or Kazam, or... or... a Bang!
Ikki: A bang?
Agatha: Yeah, a bang. Like an explosion!
Suoh: A bang, huh?
They heard the bell.
Airi: Lunch's over. You guys head to class first. I'll catch up.
They nodded and headed back to class.
The team met up at Yokohama's Atsushi with Kenzo. There they began by discussing Poppy's case.
Kenzo: So how exactly are you here?
Airi: Do you used Matrix Glasses like us?
Poppy Ω: Negative. With the privileges bested upon me by the Game Masters, I can cross between this world and The Matrix without the need of glasses or any sort of device.
Suoh: Well, never mind all that. Let's talk about our party's name!
Kenzo: A name for the party, you say?
Ikki: Yeah. Every faction in the game needs one.
Airi: And with so many parties out there, it has to be a name that stands out.
Suoh: Oh. How about "The Bloody Hellhounds"?
Ikki: Vetoed.
Airi: We're not a metal band.
Suoh: Dang it.
Kenzo: It has to be something that really, really stands out. What do you think, Inu?
Ikki thought about it for a moment.
Ikki: Hmm... Let's see...
...
...
...
Ikki: The Raiders.
Kenzo: You wanna call yourselves The Raiders?
Ikki: We will raid every Labyrinth that shows up and clear this game.
Suoh: But Raiders? isn't that essentially what everyone in The Game is? Come on! Think of something more original!
Airi: I don't know why, but it really stands out to me. I like it.
Suoh: Huh?
Kenzo: It's so simple, but there's an old say "Simplicity is best."
Poppy Ω: I have no objections.
Suoh: Okay, then. So The Raiders it is.
With our name finally decided, I feel my bond with my party growing deeper.

"I am thou, thou art I... Thou has established a new bond...
"It shall become thy strength, thy wisdom, and thy courage to clear the game..."
"Rejoice! For thou has been blessed with the power of the World Persona...
Suoh: All right! I'm in a good mood now. Let's go look for another dungeon for us to take down!
Airi: The Grand Mission should be announced soon.
Their phones began ringing. It was a notification from Poppy Alpha.
Suoh: Speak of the devil.
Poppy α:
Poppy Ω: Alpha...
Kenzo: That's our cue.
Suoh: To The Matrix!
Airi and Kenzo quickly cover Suoh's mouth.
Airi: Keep your voice down.
Yusuke: Is everything okay over there?
Airi: Y-Yes, Kisaragi-san! Thank you for your hard work!
Yusuke: Okay...?
The team headed for the center of Cyber City, where a tower-size hologram of the Grandmaster appeared.
Grandmaster: My dear Players... I'm grateful to you all for coming.
Suoh: ...-_-... Yeah, pretty much after you forced us.
Grandmaster: Now, let get to business. I want you all to take a look at this.
The Grandmaster shows them a picture of a familiar figure.
Suoh: Hold on!
Kunai: Is that...
Tempest: Yeah. It's the same girl we met at Atsushi.
ACE: Camille Von Cristoph...
Grandmaster: Camille Von Cristoph... Some of you may have heard of her. She's the daughter of a very wealthy family, as well as a very noticeable figure in the modeling industry. Unfortunately, she's going through a hard time right now.
The Grandmaster reveals the recent news and rumors surrounding Camille.
Rogue: The shit?
Tempest: I've heard of these rumors of social media.
Grandmaster: Some of you may already be aware of this, but Von Cristoph is currently under the suspicion of being involved in shady businesses around the red light district. Needless to say, these rumors are just a fabrication made by a Labyrinth. Locate the Labyrinth responsible for this, and destroy it. If this farce isn't cleared up, I can't see a bright future for Von Cristoph.
Poppy α: That's all. Best of luck, players.
And with that, the announcement ends.
The Raiders gathered at the Moonlit Nightcap to discuss their next course of action.
Rogue: So, what now?
Kunai: We have nothing better to do than to search, do we?
Tempest: Spreading false rumors about someone, and even forging evidence? Do these Labyrinths really hold such power?
ACE: This wouldn't be possible 5 years ago, but the thing about Shadows and Labyrinths is that they are always evolving. So it's not that big of a surprise.
Rogue: Wait, what's this about evolving?
Poppy Ω: According to what's left in my database, Shadows grow stronger and smarter with each season of the game that passes.
Tempest: How exactly is that possible?
Poppy Ω: I regret to inform that I lack an answer to that question at the moment.
ACE: Look, Shadows simply grow more difficult to deal with. Just adapt and you're good.
Rogue: Good way of thinking, ACE. Well, if we're gonna take on this dungeon, I say we go find ourselves a new party member.
Kunai: Another member? What do you suggest?
Rogue: Ain't it obvious? I'm talking about a crucial part of every party. We need a healer! Someone who'll focus on providing backup while the rest of us slay.
Kunai: That is a very good point Rogue. It's difficult to manage offense and support at the same time, so we need to clarify which role is everyone going to play.
Tempest: You're right.
Poppy Alpha walks up to the Grandmaster.
Poppy α: Grandmaster, is it really okay to leave the players to face this threat by themselves?
Grandmaster: As the Game Masters, is it our duty to simply stand by and monitor.
Poppy α: But... I can sense this Labyrinth isn't nesting an ordinary horde of Shadows. What if...
Grandmaster: Alpha.
Poppy α: I sincerely apologize for my insolence.
Grandmaster: Don't be. You do have a point however. We cannot risk another Season 14 incident.
The Grandmaster leaves the room.
Poppy α: Grandmaster?
Grandmaster: Preparations are in order should things take a turn for the worst.
Camille was in her room looking at the costume she's been working on with Hikaru. Then she received a call from her.
Hikaru (Phone): Hey, Camille! How's everything.
Camille: H-Hi... Everything's fine.
Hikaru (Phone): Camille? You sound...
Camille: I apologize. I have to go.
Camille hangs up and grabs her MatriX Glasses.
Camille: Here we go.
Camille enters The Game and changes into her avatar form.
Angela: Every shadow in that Labyrinth will pay.

Directorate: Nationbuilding in Apocalypse
A nation is just a means of survival. Metro Manila fell within 5 months of the first report of cannibalism. Once a hyperurbanized region of 15 million inhabitants, it's been reduced to a dead, greenless shell. Most of the infected had since left to ravage the countryside. The central government was nowhere to be found. Among the survivors who clung to the few gardens and humble plots of arable land left, one of them finds evidence that the slaughter wasn't going to just end with the first wave. Without a nation and a wall of guns, everyone will die. Directorate is an original nationbuilding webnovel that focuses on the gradual rise to power of a select few individuals, and the subsequent unification of the survivors of a devastated Metro Manila. Releases targeted at every 1 to 3 weeks. If there are no chapter updates after 3 weeks, there will be a progress update. Number of releases targeted at a maximum of 100 chapters. Every 10-15 chapters, there will be a 1-month hiatus to let me plan for the next 10-15 chapters. Double releases have a not-insignificant-but-still-small chance of occurring. Original cover edited on GIMP. Destroyed city original photo "apocalypse" from Camila Rodrigues on Pixabay.

Obstinate Han
A power progression fantasy with a main character who trains constantly but who lacks purpose, direction, and motivation. The world he lives in, however, is not a peaceful one. As obstinate as Han can be, with all of humanity edging slowly towards annihilation, will he truly be able to avoid becoming entangled in the affairs of the deities fighting over his new universe? This story is a slow burn rather than a fast paced action/adventure, and is centered around the perspective of a main character who struggles with depression, apathy, anhedonia, and asociality. This world was doomed well before he arrived, and he knows it. Rather than following the traditional hero model, he just wants to train for its own sake, and to scrape out occasional moments of happiness in a ruined and dying world.
