I thought I saw infinity,

On the pier that other time,

The ocean seemed to be endless,

Grabbing the sky with every climb.

I stood with my father,

His hand clasped in mine,

As I stared out into the blue distance,

A child of fate's design.

We had our entire lives ahead of us,

To do anything we could've wanted,

But then my dad collapsed on the wood,

And my life became haunted.

He promised me forever,

Just him and me and the sky,

To learn and explore and love,

With just the waves passing by.

I believed him with all my heart,

Picked him flowers in a bouquet,

But I never would have thought,

Sometimes forever is just one day.
