Foregone Power
Character pov Leo
This damned monkey! Its speed far surpasses mine… There's no way in hell I hit this thing! His right eye is covered in a fleshy extrusion, covered by leaking blood. Just like how the created weapons of that goat demon looked like. Ty is also struggling to land a hit; all of his shots were just deflected. We’re nothing but child's play for this thing! There has to be something I can do… Even though I had my sword, the lack of Ki to empower it made it just made it shiny normal blade. But I'll make do with what I have.
“This guy is a pain,” Ty said, holding his side. When this fight first started we were constantly on our feet. The monkey kept attacking. We got hit a few times. Ty is lucky to be standing. He got hit with a full palm on his side.
“Just give it up boys, you can't beat me.” said the money with a cocky demeanor
“You're nothing more than a pushover.” I scoffed. Even though I knew I didnt stand a chance against this thing without any Ki
The monkey, visibly infuriated by what I said, pounced at me. In those few moments, I saw Ty jump being a rock, ducking behind it. When he reappeared, he made some arrows out of some rocks and sticks. I don't know where he made a bow, however. Ty has always been crafty. Ty let those arrows fly, all four of them. The monkey was still focused on me so the first one hit straight into his back… only it hit his shell. He controlled his body to smash the air in a downward motion caucusing the arrows down. Shattering them.
“Foolish humans, to think mere “sharp” stones on a stick would be able to pierce my shell. Hell, not even my flesh would be more than scraped by those. He was looking at Ty. This was my opportunity to strike. My thoughts were rushing; one hesitated movement would ruin this. I gripped my blade, I felt the blood rushing through my body to my hands. I distanced myself to lunge at him. I pushed off the ground, flying towards that thing. Practically throwing out my arm for my attack I dug into his shoulder. I had to cut and go deeper. Screaming as if it would increase the power behind the slice. I dug so far that I felt my sword break its ribs. The monkey let out a guttural roar of agony. I tightened my grip and switched the direction of the blade. I completed the cut and now the monkey was missing its right arm, and its ribs were now exposed.
“You… I will make sure your face is nothing but a bloody mess when I'm finished.” It said with a blood-curdling rage.
But what I saw made me reveal that even trying to fight this thing would be futile. It just… regrew its whole missing arm.

'That look, keep it’ It said with a sinister face.
It vanished and reappeared in front of me. It wasn't the face of a monkey, no, it was a demon. I could tell that he hasn't transformed fully so he must still be able to be defeated If I destroy his heart. But I thought that the gray blur’s palm was mere inches from my ribs. Moments later my ribs were struck, completely shattering them. The hit knocked me in the air smashing me into a tree. Hitting my head also caused me to bleed from my head. Black hair was now stained with blood, turning it a dark auburn color. A small vibration from my hip is coming from my hip, my sword…. It was humming with a golden radiance. Even though I haven't imbued it with my Ki, it was showing its power. I have a chance now. I held the blade and felt the golden energy swirl around my hand up to my arm and the rest of my body. I felt the pain subside, nearly gone. My bleeding has also stopped. This did happen before though. When “It” happened.
This was my best shot at even standing a chance against this thing.
“Standing up is we,” It said with malice.
Not even saying a word I jumped behind a tree. But second, after that, I hear cracking, and a blast of wind toppling trees and cracking them. He was destroying my cover. I don't know how long my sword will remain radiant, every second counts! TY! He was being held up by the throat. This was an obvious bait to bring me out. But watching Ty’s skin turn into a darker shade of blue. I don't have a choice. Lunging out of the rubble of a tree unsheathing my sword of golden light. The red-colored edge releases the aura of gold. The monkey's face stayed unfazed. Dropping Ty, smacking the air to launch at me. My determination and sword cut the wind leaving a visible trail of heat between my slices. My sword was raised above my head while the monkey was showing a hit directed at my chest.
A large figure out of nowhere hit me, knocking my sword out of my hands. I watched the golden glow dim until it wasn't there anymore. What hit me out of the air was… Greed?!
“Shut up, I'll explain later,” She said
Coming out of the shrubs clapping was Master Polo! Behind him was an unconscious Marco. Floating with the power of Master Polo’s Gravity art. His regular art is so powerful I wonder what his Ki art would be. I hate using that slang term for their regular art. Magic sounds like pulling a rabbit out of a hat. Not being able to control gravity at a moment's notice
Master Polo looked at the beaten and bloody Ty lying on the ground barely breathing.
His eyes blew up with a furry. With a glance he looked at the monkey, crushing both of its arms with a flick of his fingers. His control over his art is impressive. No wonder he is a former Vale Council member.

“What did I say, Hillel, harm these boys and I'll make sure you'll never find yourself a matter again. Sorry about this Leo his species goes on a murderous rampage when they lose their mate”
“Jokes on you Polo, I never lost my mate. This was all to become the new blood demon since the last one was killed.”
“Do you know who did that?”
“I assumed it was you?”
“It was these boys!”
His face showed confusion and then anger
“No more nonsense!” He shouted.
The monkey moved about an inch before Master appeared right in front of it and threw his hands in his chest.
“One down, two more to go. ” He said pulling his hand out, cracking his joints
The monkey fell over only to rise again. Jumping in the air. Master moved in a blur. I was unable to keep track of his speed. He appeared right behind the monkey snapping its neck while using gravity to make him implode.
Master Polo is freakishly strong. There is no way I could ever beat him at my current level. But I will surpass him. Even if it means losing the ones I hold close.
The same thing happened as before. The monkey came alive once again. But what I saw was frightening. In Front of Masters's fingertips was a black orb crackling with purple electricity.
“Zero-point bomb,” Polo said with no emotion in his voice.
He released the orb and once he did everything was sucked into it.
I was almost sucked in before Polo grabbed me. Then the pull stopped. A translucent pink dome was covering the area around the ball. In an about 30 feet radius.
“If anything passes that wall they get sucked into my Zero Point Bomb. It works by sucking everything into one point, the zero point, then launching everything out.”
I noticed that the monkey must have already been sucked in. Then the thing just vanishes. The sound, sucking, everything about the attack vanishes.
“Or I can collapse it so I can store it for when I need it. Currently, the last time I had to use the second stage to that attack was ten years ago.” He said laughing
“So where do those things go?” I said
“To the zero point?” he said as if asking was a stupid thing.
“Now go to sleep”
I blacked out
Character Pov Marco
I opened my eyes and looked at my surroundings. To my left and right were Leo and Ty respectively. In Front of me were Polo and Greed.
“Ahh! Good morning you three! This is where you three will be until next year!” Uncle said
“What?”
“It's a virtual training simulator created by Me and Greed. Here you will learn how to control your Ki and fight as a solemn unit. This is to prepare you for the Trials that begin.
Polo walked over to a control panel that looked completely digital. Like a hologram.
His finger pressed onto it as if it were glass. With a single press of a button, one large humanoid figure gripping a spear emerged out of thin air mere feet away from us.
“Fight that and if you win I'll think about giving you three some dinner,” Polo said with maniacal laughter.
The spear-wielding entity had a blank body. Fully gray from head to toe, and had zero features along its face. Almost like a mannequin, but a mannequin doesn't move fast enough to close fifty feet in a few seconds.
Leo sidestepped pulling his sword out of its sheath. Ty summoned large hand cannons.
“I'm guessing Ki is allowed?” I said, summing a gust of wind at my feet.
Blasting myself off the ground right before the mannequin's spear hit the floor, creating a digital shockwave. I've never seen anything like that before.
I don't feel like fighting right now, I need to figure out where my sister is.
“This thing is so bad at fighting,” I said dodging three piercing strikes.
I had a moment to strike after the third strike where it overextended his right side. Leaving it open for me to land a strike with an open palm. My hand crashed into it destroying it. After it fell to the ground it. Disintegrated?
“That was… surprisingly easy?” Leo said,
“You spoke too soon…” I said. Watching as four more mannequins spawned.
Using wind to launch at them, I took the one carrying a sword out with a kick. While ducking a spear. On the floor I kicked at it, destroying that one.
“ Two down, two more to go.”
But before I could find the other Ty shot the last two in the head.
“Easy target practice”
Four down and then sixteen spawned right after.
“I'll handle this,” He said laughing
A vortex of flames spiraled to inform his left palm. The size of a yoga ball
“Release!” He shouted
A blazing fire blast left the metallic floor a bright white color from the heat.
But after that sixteen he took out in a single attack, a lot more spawned.
After a couple of seconds of counting, I counted sixty-four…
“Oh come on! We kill one and four more take its place. This is some bullshit! ” Ty said
“ I wonder how many we have to kill to pass this test from Polo,” Leo said
But then they started glowing. Did they begin to… merge? The sixty-four turned into four.
“Wait, it's exactly like those games Polo plays on his phone,” Ty said
“Those build-up games where you spawn level-one things and add them together?” Leo said
“Exactly!”
“So if my math is right… Those things are sixteen times stronger than the level ones…

Death, Aralt realizes, might be the greater mercy. ---------------------------------------------------------- What to Expect: Character-driven Plot Novel Pacing (which I accept isn't typical for serials) Elaborate Worldbuilding (you gotta pay attention) Soul-bonded Swords Sentient Wolves Longish Chapters What Not to Expect: Litrpg (sorry!) Harem (not sorry!) Magic System Short Chapters Dancing Bears (at least so far) Seriously, this is a second-world low fantasy/science-fantasy featuring a strong, but flawed male protagonist, a cheeky teenage boy that’s driving him crazy, a wee bit o’ Scots flavor, and a whole lot of culture clashing. I’m preparing to relaunch this story on Kindle once the second and third books are ready and I’d love some feedback as I move through those revisions. I'm serious about the feedback. All comments are welcome. I'll name a characters after you. And kill them, if you want. :) Oh, did I mention soulless assassins and cannibals? Yeah, Aralt’s day is not getting any better. cover image by brosedesignz
8 119Just a Guy in Space
A lone alien scout ship is sent to retrieve a data packet from a newly discovered blue planet and picks up more than they bargained for in the process. Thrust into a world of xenoi and hyperdrives, a lone human must battle the crew’s xenophobia and general distrust in a bid to achieve his ultimate goal: bang the ship’s hot captain. Additional tags: xenophobia, mecha, weak to strong protagonist Author's note: This is a work in progress. I've only recently started and I would greatly appreciate any and all feedback regarding this. I plan on having quite a lot of raunchy scenes in there, so if that's not your jam, I suggest you move on because these chapters will still include plot points.
