Justice stopped crying in my arms after she pulled away and got herself together.
She took Joker off of her head and placed him on her arm, and walked over to my desk and sat in the office chair, dragging her hand down Joker's soft wings.
I stood up and walked towards Jensen, who seemed to be shocked and still processing what had just happened.
"Hey." I whispered. He eyes shifted towards my face as he slowly slid back into reality. He cleared his throat before speaking.
"Hey." Was all he could muster out before clearing his throat again. "Can you put aside a savings account for her collage fund?" He asked.
"Yeah, of course." I said, typing it into the notes on my work phone.
"What am I going to do?" He muttered as his eyes slowly made their way to Jj and the large macaw on her arm. I glanced at Jj as I searched for words.
"Go over there and get to know her. You may not have been a part of her life for her first seven years but that doesn't mean that you can't start now." I said, stepping aside and giving him a little push in Jj's direction.
He slowly walked over there and kneeled down next to her. She barely glanced at him, then kept her attention on the bird.
"Hey Jj." Jensen started. His voice was quiet and soft.
"You're supposedly my dad? Why weren't you there for the first seven years? You put my mom through hell as she would say, you abandoned her in her biggest time of need. Some dad you are." She said, a scowl forming on her face as her jaw tightened with every word that came out of her mouth.

Jensen sighed and turned to look at me for help. His jaw clenched in anger and his eyes filled with hurt, his eye brows drawn together in sadness.
I took a step towards Jj, taking Joker from her arm.
"Jj, Jensen didn't know you were alive until just a few minutes ago. You have to understand that when he and your mother split up, he didn't know your mother was pregnant with you. Give him a break okay? He wants to be there for you, but you have to give him the chance." I said, as I put Joker back into his cage with Jj at my side.
"Why did my mom leave me here with him? If she didn't like him, why did she think I would?" Jj spat.
I sighed. "Jj, your mom left you here because she didn't want to take care of you anymore. I hate to say this to you like this, but your mom isn't coming back."
"What do you mean she isn't coming back? She's my mom she has to."
Tears jumped into my eyes when I remembered what Danneel had said before she slammed the door.
'I just can't deal with her anymore. Take her... if you don't then she is going to an orphanage. I already have enough with my business, and she just gets in the way.'
What kind of person just abandons her daughter? Some people are just people, and then others are just monsters. I guess Danneel belongs in the monster column.
Jj stared at me while I searched for an answer to her question. I quickly ripped away my tears and kneeled down next to her.
"Jj, I mean your mom had a lot on her plate, so she needs you to live with your dad for a while so she can sort everything out. She just needs time, okay?" I said, wiping away a few tears that had strayed from her eyes.

Jj stayed silent as she looked at me.
"Tell you what, you can come over to my place to play with the dogs anytime you want okay? I'm sure Jensen won't mind bringing you over." I said.
"But-" She started.
"No buts. You have to give Jensen a chance. If you don't then you can't come over." I said. "Deal?"
"Okay, I'll try." She said.
"That's a good girl. Alright, go meet Jensen okay?" I asked her with a smile.
"Okay, fine." She said as she turned and walked over to Jensen.
"I'm sorry for what I said to you earlier. That's just my mom always told me." She said.
"It's okay Justice. Your mom would say something like that, but if she told me that she had you, you would've had a completely different life. One with a father from the beginning. I may not have been there for you then, but I promise you I will be now, okay?"
"Pinky promise?" Jj said as she held out her little finger towards Jensen.
"Pinky promise." Jensen said, linking his finger with hers.
"Good." Jj said. "What now?"
"Well, now we get to know each other. What do you like to do?" Jensen asked.
"Um, I really like animals, and I've never been there, but I really want to go to the beach. And not just what mom calls the beach by some stupid lake, I mean the real beach, by the ocean." Jj said as she looked at one of my photos on the wall.
"Okay then. What do you say we go to the beach?" Jensen asked.
"Really?!" Jj asked as her eyes grew as wide as saucers.
Jensen chuckled. "Yes really."
Jj grew silent, and chewed on her bottom lip, thinking. Much like Jensen. I thought.
"Okay, we can go to the beach, but on one condition." Jj said.
"Okay, whats your condition?" Jensen asked.
"Y/n has to come too or else I'm not going, and I refuse to like you." Jj said, taking a step back and crossing her arms.
Jensen looked to me, then back to Jj.
"I don't know Justice, that's her choice not mine. I can't force her to go with us." Jensen said.
Jj turned to me. "Please~" She pleaded. Jensen turned to me, begging me to go with the look in his eyes.

Long gone are the days when every hero could do whatever they wanted - now, we are civilised. We have government. Law. And proper forms. Lots of proper forms. (Final episode 25/07/2022. Also - beta readers far into the book rate the 'gore' degree as below 2/10, so the warning is a bit much) Mary Susan Oceanrunner is a poor girl from the orphanage, who like many others before, has to fulfil her destiny. The prophecy had been told, and she is the only one who can make things right. Erm... probably. Anyway, she can't just go and kill monsters like in the middle ages. First, she must apply for the appropriate permissions, fill the forms, learn about the proper loot taxations... Hey, no one said adventuring would be easy, right? Disclaimers: No claim made by any character by the book should be treated as the author's or anyone else's opinion on any subject. Most likely, it was just the funniest thing the Author could think of at the time of writing. This book contains many references to other works. It will probably be best enjoyed by individuals familiar with at least some of the following: 1) Computer games2) Fantasy in general3) Science fiction4) Tabletop RPGs5) Conspiracy theories6) Corporation work life7) Long forgotten prophecies uttered millennia ago in almost as forgotten languages under a starless night three dusks before the great convergence8) Filling any government-mandated form9) School10) EnglishMy ultimate goal is to make as many people experience something akin to joy while reading (think ~a bit louder exhale through the nose). It doesn't mean every scene will be funny or joyful because that's not how this stuff works. I can neither confirm nor deny having any other hidden agenda outside of that.
