The bell's loud shriek echoed through the classroom. I can finally have a break. I packed up my art equipment and headed for the door.

"Wait." A hand quickly grabbed my wrist.

"Yes?" I asked turning around to see who it was. Oh my god, not her.

"What's your number?" Azia pondered still holding my arm.

"Why?" I replied pulling my arm from her soft grasp.

"It's for uh...future art partnership...for art. Did I say art?"

I chuckled to myself. She's adorable. What did I just say? Ew no.

"Right. Give me your phone." I instructed. She gave me her phone and I quickly typed in my number into her contacts.

"There. Feel free to text me I guess."

"Thank you beshiee." Azia said while I handed back her phone. What an odd individual.

I made my way to the canteen and waited for Auberon. Where the hell is he? It's been 20 mins and he was supposed to be waiting at my classroom.

"Hey honey." Acacia greeted. Acacia and I have been best friends since nursery. I swear we're sisters that have been separated at birth cause we have so much in common it's concerning.

"Hey babe, have you seen Auberon?" I questioned.

"Nah sorry love. Swear you two have been distant since summer holidays? Has anything happened?"

Now when I deep it, it's been ages since we've actually had a day where we hung out without any disruptions with him having to go to his "science retreat." Who even came up with a science retreat?

"I don't know Acacia. I feel like I'm doing something wrong. Am I not putting enough effort into the relationship or what? It's so tiring not seeing him as often anymore. He's changed for the worse. I mean the only time we've actually spoken properly is well...today."That sounds terrible saying it out loud.

"Yeah that's a sticky one to be fair but you're the one who's keeping this relationship afloat and it isn't fair on you anymore. Personally, I think you should end it cause we don't entertain little boys like him alright. Talk to him. It's completely up to you now." Acacia advised while holding my hand. God, I hate when she's right.

"I'll go to his house after school and talk to him then." I frowned.

"Look El, don't dwell on this situation too much. You're a strong, independent woman. I know your relationship is kind of well rocky right now but it'll work out in the end. Now cheer up cause I'm treating you to five guys." She smiled cupping my face.

"I love you...puta." I smirked.

"Love you too . Now hurry up before I let you starve here alone."

We gathered up our things and signed out at reception, heading towards the direction of the high street.

So I completely chickened out and decided to not go to Auberon's. I just...I'm not ready to face him. I don't want to be disappointed again. It isn't the first time he's been like this. We started dating in Year 10. He used to be so chivalrous and caring until he got himself mixed up with the wrong type of crowd.

Now he's a cold, dismissive boy, blinded by the promises of getting the best drugs he can get his hands on. When he was going through withdrawals, he would get violent. He would grab my arms until they were bruised and red, screaming profanities at me, demanding me to get him drugs or he'll hit me again. I was afraid of the consequences. I wanted him to stay with me. He promised he would.

Tears trickled onto my pillow as the painful memories clouded my mind. I hate this so much. I prayed and prayed every day for this suffocating relationship to end but it never did. And I hate how I'm still in love with someone who just uses me for money. I hate how I love him so damn much. I've convinced myself that we're doing just fine and it's normal for couples to fight this much. I was wrong. It's far from normal.

My phone screen glowed, lighting up my dark room. I saw an imessage notification pop up from a random number.

I wiped my cheeks and picked up my phone to respond.
