Rohan's P.O.V.
"Stop that noise," a soft voice groaned.
I slammed the alarm shut and sighed as the noise faded. I opened my eyes to find myself staring at my wife.
Ah my heart summersaulted at that phrase-my wife.
I wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her close to me and tighten my grip around her.
"As much as I like your hugs, I don't wanna die of suffocation,"
Her words bring a smile to my face as I loosen my grip around her as I look at her.
"Hey,"
"Hey, morning," she mumbles sheepishly.
"You alright?"
"Yeah, I'm sorry for my outbursts last night,"
"Sanjana, you never have to be sorry, trust me you're still better at handling it, I know for sure that if it was me, I would legit throw a tantrum and roll on the floor as I cried hysterical, yup I can even imagine myself doing that,"
She just laughed as my words before sitting up.
"Rohan,"
"Yeah?"
"Thank you,"
"Don't be silly,"
"No really, like all my life I've seen my father and how he would be ready to stand up for my mom whenever my grandmother said bitter words to her and I knew I wanted a love like theirs but when I took law, I realised that the love my parents share is too rare because of all the domestic abuse survivors and then you came and you stood up for me and I swear it was so..." She trailed of not knowing how to finish her sentence.
"You don't need to thank me sweetheart, count on me to always stand up by your side,"
"Mhmm and you should go shower first, I'd like to steal a few more moments in this cosy bed before finally waking up,"
"Yeah sure," I mumbled as I kissed her forehead and heading for a shower.

"Sanjana is not coming to the office today?" Sunil asks as we sit for breakfast.
"She doesn't want to get out of the room because she doesn't want to bump into that old lady, so I proposed if she'd like to go visit her parents for a day or two, just before Diwali celebrations begin,"

"Mhmm nice idea,"
After breakfast I drop Sanjana to her place only to stumble into her father who was frowning in my direction.
"What was last night about?" He asked as Sanjana walked to her room.
"I-- you promise not to get angry right?"
"Depends," he said as he crosses his arms over his chest making hin look even more intimidating.
I hesitantly start explaining the events from last night and don't look at him as I stop.
"Thank you Rohan,"
"T-thank you? For what?"
"For being there for her, for standing up for her and for being patient with her,"
"Oh nahi nahi, you don't need to thank me,"
"You're a nice guy," he said.
"No wonder you chose me for her right?"
"Yeah but like just be there for her you know, she's my chota babu, and I cannot even imagine any harm coming to her after all that she's going through,"
"I promise dad, count on me because I'll always be there for her no matter what,"
"Hogya? Khana kha le?"
"Oh no, I really need to rush to the office, I'm late anyways, I'll get going,"
"Nonsense! Come on beta,"
I joined them for lunch and my mouth watered at the dishes.
"I made your favourite kadai paneer,"
"Ah thank you so much mom, I cannot wait to dive in," Sanjana said as she helped herself and immediately dug in.
Mom flicked her forehead and shook her head.
"Kya hua?" Sanjana whined.
"Bhukkad," Sonia snorted.
"Mhmm I'll call you that when your Rosh is around sweetheart," Sanjana threatened with a sickly sweet smile and Sonia just rolled her eyes.
"Don't mind them Rohan, they're idiots," dad said.
"Your favourite idiots,"
"Of course baccha, my favourites including that beautiful lady standing next to you,"
Mom shook her head and swatted dad before sitting down next to dad.
°
I was sitting in tthe living room reading a newspaper, finally happy that the old lady had left. She left right after I had dropped Sanjana.

"Rohan,"
"Yes Monica?"
"When is Sanjana coming back? I miss her,"
"It's only been one day--"
I didn't get to finish my sentence because the door bell started ringing. Mom opened the door and there is some commotion before a group of men with police walk in.
"Mr Sunil?"
"Yes,"
"We have been informed that you have been evading taxes, have been living in this house illegally and have been notified of your black work, we will have to seize all the money and property in the name of Mehra that included your brother and your father, we will need you guys to evacuate this place as soon as possible and we will need you to stay within the city and if you try to run we will press strict charges against you,"
"What? On what basis?"
"Sir, here are the files,"
"What the fuck?" Monica snapped as she snatched the file from Sunil and read it.
"Fucking Abhinav," Sunil muttered.
"Abhinav? As in the Abhinav of Singh enterprises?"
"Yes Rohan, I won a case against Singh enterprises and this is his form of revenge," Sunil said sourly.
"What the fuck? Is he a five year old?"
"Sir, we need you to evacuate the house and all other places have already been sealed, we will need you to place all the debit and credit cards and leave all the cash here,"
"Where the fuck do we go?"
"Hey, I'll book a hotel for now and then we'll discuss this okay?"
"And you sirs, I will eat your jobs if I find any hint of bribe in this case," I said as I looked at them.
Just as we were walking out, Abhinav walked in with a smirk. I don't even control my anger and I launch at him and punch him.
"Rohan!"
"Oye bhai!"
I am pulled away from Abhinav and he is still smirking with a black eye as he tips his head to the side.
"Too bad," he said.
"You little--"
"Shant raho yaar," dad snapped as he brought a suitcase.
"Go and pack you bags, I've booked a room for now," Monica said.
I glared at Abhinav for one for time before packing three sets of clothes and even Sanjana's clothes.
"Come on I'll drive you all," Monica said.
Abhinav tutted behind us.
"The cars are seized as well,"
"Oh well Mr. Smarty pants, that car is under the name of my bhabhi's maiden name, I'm sure he only said Mehra and not Shukla," Monica stated.
"Fucking child!" I grunted as I glared at Abhinav before sitting in the car.
Just then Sanjana called and and I ignored her call as Monica drove us to the hotel. Mom was crying a little and Sunil was cursing all the way to the hotel.
"Who paid for this?"
"My account is still under my maiden name, thank god I decided to change everything after Diwali,"
"Where will we celebrate Diwali?" Mom cried out.
"Ma, trust me now is not the time to worry about that,"
"Oye Rohan, why aren't you answering Sanjana?" Monica said as soon as we were settled inside the hotel room.
"Trust me I don't want to worry her at the moment,"
"Welp too bad," Monica said and just then the door bell rang.
"Where the fuck is that asshole!"
