《Lawfully Wedded》Chapter 11

It's been two weeks since we have been married. Two weeks since my nightmare. I have been better, though even now sometimes I do have some nightmares but they are not as scary as the one I had.

This morning, I forgot to eat my breakfast and now I was only looking forward for lunch. But I guess god had other plans for me because as soon as I stepped out of my office, Rohan also stepped out and he looked angry. He turned to look at me and he glared at me.

So finally after two weeks, this man was showing his real face to me, well better late than never.

"What the fuck is this Sanjana?" His voice boomed and I flinched at how harsh he sounded.

"Urmm... I'm going for lunch," I squeaked out, suddenly too awkward to speak as the staff started gathering around.

"And when are you going to analyse that file I gave you?"

"I was--"

"What the fuck even? If you can't fucking do a job correctly tell me! I don't want people in this firm who will stall time! You said two days and now it's been two weeks already!" He shouted.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw as Sunil approached us.

"Fucking hand over the file if you can't do it, don't want fucking incompetent employees," he snapped.

Sunil looked at my teary eyed face and shook his head.

"Bhai, get inside your office and do not get out until I come to you, Bhabhi, come on in," Sunil said as he opened the door to my office and led me to the chair.

I sank in the chair and closed my eyes.

"I'm sorry Bhabhi, it's just--"

"I don't wanna hear it Sunil, now if you'll excuse me, I have work to do, I don't want to be called incompetent again," I said bitterly as I opened my eyes and he sighed before rubbing his temples.

"Bhabhi,"

"Sunil, you don't need to be sorry or anything okay? And I'm not angry, upset but not angry, I can't be angry when I'm at fault for not returning the file to him within two days,"

"I'll--"

"Go and look after your brother for me okay? I'll quickly finish analysing the file and give it, tell that to him okay?"

Sunil looked dejected but still murmured a quite okay before leaving me alone.

"You fucking son of a biscuit! How could you lose your control like that?!" Sunil shouted as he entered the office and grabbed me by my collar.

"Sunil, leave me alone, I'm not in a mood," I grumbled.

"Right? And do you see me giving a flying fuck about that? How dare you? Yes she admitted she was sorry for stalling time but that fucking gives you no rights to say all that non-sense to her!"

"But Tanya--"

"I don't give a fuck! Did she know about Tanya? Did she know about anything?"

I shook my head.

"You messed up, you messed up a big time and you know what she is telling me that she is not angry at you! Ha you don't fucking deserve her! Whatever goodness you showed her, all went into drain the moment you spat that bullshit! Fucking dumbass!" Sunil spat as he let go of my collar and left me alone.

I groaned and pulled at the roots of my hair at the frustration.

I know I messed up, if I could I would go back in time and change it, urgh!

I sighed as sat on my chair as I stared at the screen of my laptop. One hour turned into two, into three and even when my laptop screen blacked out I continued staring blankly at it. My mind was preoccupied with Tanya, her laughter, her beautiful smile, her last words still rung in my head.

"I need your help," she'd told me. I'd missed her call and the next time I met her, it was her funeral. I remember how desperate, how in pain she'd sounded in that voice mail. She was begging for help and I had failed her.

"Fuck!" I groaned in frustration as I stood up. I needed a coffee.

When I looked at the wall clock, I realised it was 7:30 and that meant all of them would have left.

When I stepped outside my office, I found the lights on in the office opposite me, Sanjana's office.

I ditched coffee and I knocked at her door, when on the third knock I didn't get an answer, I opened the door and found her dozing off. She was still on the desk, her specs still on her as she slept with her head on the desk.

I didn't want to wake her up, but touching her without her consent when she was asleep like this would be wrong and I know she would be upset.

"Sanjana,"

"Sanjana,"

"Hmm?"

"Wake up, come on let's get you home,"

"Hmm?" She mumbled as she lifted her head and when her mind registered who it was she immediately stood up and straightened her posture.

"Rohan, I'm sorry I was sleeping,"

"It's ok," I said as I looked at her desk. She was filing the papers and as she closed the file, she held it out for me.

"Here, I've done all the work, it took me long because I was going through all the evidences and everything," she said.

"Sanjana, I'm sorry for lashing out like that, I let my anger get the best of me and I said all those words, I didn't mean any of that--"

"Tanya must have been someone important to you," she said tenderly as she started packing her bag.

"Yeah she was," I said as I stared at her.

"I've not forgiven you, it'll take time for me to forgive you," she said as she looked at me.

"Take as long as you want, I know I shouldn't have lashed out,"

"Come on now, I'm very hungry I haven't eaten anything and I want to eat some pasta so you treat me today," she said and I stared at her in disbelief before shaking my head.

"Food is life Rohan," she muttered and rushed outside. She was a little slow as she walked and as she stood near the elevator, she held onto the wall for support.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"Ye--" she couldn't finish her sentence because she dropped to the floor, half conscious.

"Shit," I cursed as I rushed towards her side, immediately wrapping my arms around her.

"Hey, don't close your eyes, fuck! Don't close your eyes okay? I've got you," I mumbled as I picked her up and rushed inside my office as I settled her down on my sofa.

"Sanjana, hey, come on try to open your eyes," I pleaded and she half opened her eyes as her lips formed in a half smile.

Slowly, she became more conscious and I offered her water.

"Before you say anything, it was actually your fault, I didn't eat my breakfast because I forgot but as soon as I walked out for lunch you lashed out at me,"

"I'm so sorry Sanjana, but you didn't have to skip lunch, do you know how scared I was? Even though I know you weren't dead but it still scared me," I said as I stared at me.

"Now are you going to drive us to any near by restaurant, I'm very very hungry," she whined.

"Are you sure you want to go now, maybe you should rest for some time before we--"

"I cannot stay hungry any more, I need food!"

"Okay fine, let me just keep this file and we'll go,"
