《The Ruels of My Heart》chapter twenty four - your perspective

I'm just having lunch in my apartment when my phone vibrates in my pocket. It's a contact that just a few hours ago made me feel angry and hurt, but now it just makes me feel... I don't even know. It's Ruel, of course. He's asking what my new address is so he can pick me up in two hours, at 2:30pm. I quickly reply back to him with my address. I feel a little bad because the message is a bit blunt, but I just feel a bit confused about everything. Uncertain. Is this a date? Or are we just friends? Are we even friends? Or are we back to almost strangers? I'm not even sure what I want us to be.

I decide to wear a simple baby blue summer dress with a basic white turtle neck long sleeve underneath and some white sandals. I don't really want to dress up too much because I am still confused about everything, especially my feelings. Before I know it, there's a knock on my door. I take a deep breath and open it. Sure enough, standing there smiling anxiously is Ruel. And damn he looks so good. He's wearing a dark brown sweater and some black pants. God I missed those emerald eyes and messy curtains. What is happening to me?

"Hi," I say, shyly.

"Hey Leo," Ruel replies, "I am so sorry about everything that happened I-"

"It's fine Ruel," I say, smiling reassuringly, "Coco explained everything. If anything I should be apologising, not you. I shouldn't have just left. I should have listened to you. I'm sorry."

"Don't say that. But seriously, thank you for coming tonight. I appreciate it heaps."

"Where are we going?" I ask as we walk beside each other along the sidewalk. There is no tension between us anymore. All is forgiven. I'm actually having a great time and enjoying Ruel's company.

"You'll see," he says with a cheeky glint in his eye.

We walk together, chatting about everything that has happened since we last saw each other.

"Close your eyes," Ruel says.

"Okay," I reply, grinning, and putting my hand over my eyes so I can't see anything.

Ruel scoops me up and puts me on his shoulders, which is easy because I'm tiny, especially ompared to him.

A few minutes later, he lowers me onto the ground.

"Tag," he says, tapping my shoulder. I hear his footsteps dash off into the distance. I open my eyes and see I'm in the most beautiful field of knee-high wild flowers. The flowers have just blossomed and their bright colours are so gorgeous. I can see Ruel running away, so I sprint after him. I have always been pretty good at running, so I catch up to him quickly.

"Tag," I say, tapping his back. He spins around and we both have the silliest grins on our face.

"You did not!" He squeals.

"I did so!" I reply, running in the other direction, away from him.

"I'm coming to get you!"

"You could never keep up!"

"You wish!"

He does catch up with me, but I duck at his attempt to tag me. He falls over, bringing me down with him onto the soft ground. I land on top of his chest, our faces millimetres apart. We stare into each others eyes, grinning. Until I break the peaceful moment by grabbing a handful of his hair and pulling his lips onto mine. I don't care what Ruel is thinking, I don't care if he thought we were just friends, I don't care what the consequences will be, I want Ruel so bad. My heart is racing and my stomach is full of butterflies. He wraps his arms around my waist, and spins us around so he's on top of me, kissing me back passionately. I spin him around so I'm back on top of him, smiling between kisses, dominant. My hands drift gently down up his spine, his up my shirt. I can't deny it. I still love Ruel.
