《Shadow》Part eight Patton's perspective

I woke up in a weird room cuddling someone. Wait why is Virgil here and OMG I am cuddling Logan I am so happy right now! I can't even think of a dad joke right now. As much as I would love to keep snuggling Logan I am really confused and he normally has answers, so I shake him lightly to wake him up. "Ah so you have awoken and likely have questions for me am I correct?" He asks sleepily. "Yeah, I am just really confused and I don't really remember what happened." "Well Virgil was attacked by Princey but he is pretty sure that it wasn't actually Princey and so I made sure that you came here to his panic room." He is lying to me maybe not entirely but he is definitely hiding something. "Stop it! Just tell me the truth. The WHOLE truth." I say loudly enough that I wake Virgil up. "I am very sorry Patton but I can't." He says quietly, he is telling the truth. He is sad but, protective? Wait what that doesn't make any sense why would he be feeling that way, is he covering for someone? Now that Virgil is awake and Logan is acting weird there are too many emotions, it is starting to hurt my head and I can't distract myself. I am getting really dizzy and nauseous and I-
"Patton? Are you alright you appear to have lost consciousness momentarily." I hear after I open my eyes again. "I am fine it was just a bad headache," I respond, aww Logan is worried that is sad but sweet. "That was not just a headache, do you know what could have caused it?" I hate lying but I also don't think that just saying 'your emotions' is a good way to say it either.
Now that I am being quiet he is worrying even more and Virgil is already anxious, and now I am anxious and, "PLEASE CAN EVERYONE STOP WORRYING FOR A MINUTE!" Well, I didn't mean to shout but at least they aren't worried anymore they are just confused. "You are an empath, how did I not notice this sooner. That is why you freaked out during the fight, this all makes perfect sense." Logan exclaims after a moment. "Yeah please don't tell Roman he would get even more protective over me," I say so quietly I am not sure he even heard me. "Is there a way to block you from feeling any of our emotions, and unblock you if needed?" He asks after a minute. "Yeah, it is pretty easy actually you just need to picture me being completely emotionless to block them and super emotional to unblock them." Soon after I say that I feel calm as if neither of them has emotions at all.

"Thanks, guys. That is really helpful now do we have any clue what happened to Princey?" Virgil smiles "I have an idea but I think we will need some suits for protection Logan I have a feeling that you can figure out how to build them in the office space." He says calmly. "Where do you think he is?" I ask as I watch Logan go out to design and build. "Well the only person who could have impersonated him and his powers is Deceit and even though everyone thinks he died I know he didn't, and I know where his base is." How did he, what? "Why do you know that?" He sighs clearly on the verge of tears. "Because we used to be friends." He says as he starts crying onto my chest.
A little while later Logan has finished the suits and he has plenty of weaponry for all of us so we head out. "Alright Patton you need to go find Roman, Logan and I will distract Deceit and protect you two," Virgil says to me once we are just outside the building. "And when you find him give him this so he has some protection too." He adds before handing me a switchblade. "Thanks, be careful you two." I say quickly."We will." Responds Logan. We head off our separate ways, Virgil already explained to me how to get to the dungeon where we think Roman is.
I sneak into the dungeon in my very scary black suit because apparently, I will be better hidden in the dark. And I quickly find Roman, he is looking pretty bad. He is completely naked and covered in bruises, burns, and cuts with a little pool of blood at his feet. Probably the scariest part is that someone carved into his chest 'Property of Remus Royals'. "Get away from me!" He hisses, scared and embarrassed. "It is me, Patton. And I am going to try to get you out of here okay?" I say quietly as I go over to the wall and get the keys. "How can I trust that it's you?" He asks hesitantly. "You are absolutely terrified and really embarrassed, now I am going to unlock you but you need to stay quiet." I quickly unlock him and grab him to run out and bring him to the panic room.

Once I am there I pass him some of Virgil's clothes and make him take a nap while I go back to get the others. "You know you are going to have to hurt him or someone he cares about eventually if you want to keep your secret safe why not just let us do it for you." I hear a familiar voice hiss out. Suddenly I am overwhelmed with rage, Virgil or Logan must have unblocked their emotions, suddenly I also have a lot of fear. Logan must have figured out what the other half of my power is, I can transfer emotions.
I run in and immediately hit the guy holding a knife against Logan's throat with all of the fear I possibly can causing him to curl up into a ball and have a panic attack. Then I turn and face the Deceit who is currently holding Virgil back with snakes. "Do you want to try me too?" I call out to him causing his snakes to loosen up enough for Virgil to punch him hard enough to knock him out. "I normally am not a fan of violence but that was pretty awesome," I say laughing and it is clear that they have calmed down a bit.
We head back to Virgil's panic room to look after Roman and block their emotions again once we are far enough away to make it safe. "Roman is in pretty bad shape," I say as we walk in, causing Logan to quickly glare at me before he sees that there was no way to hide it. He clearly couldn't get the clothes on so he laid them on the bed and napped with a blanket over his privates. We could all see how much damage had been done to him. "For having been done for only a maximum of two days he is in very bad shape. It would be a good idea if both of you left for the examination as he will likely be nude." Logan says as he wakes Roman. So we leave and curl up on Virgil's bed so we can watch cartoons.

The Granddaughter of Time
Teresa Hargrove was okay with giving up. She knew the Earth was doomed and there was nothing to be done about it. What she was not okay with was the Future, an enigmatic woman nearly fanatical in her devotion to making a difference, dragging her along — seemingly, to prove her wrong. It turns out though that the Future is very hard to understand. This story contains heavy themes, including mental illness, existential crisis and death. However, I still tried to eventually convey a message of hope. Several mythical and metaphorical beings in the shape of humans will appear in most chapters. However, they are not meant to be of a specific ethnicity or social background and are instead perceived differently by people around them. For your reading pleasure, feel free to imagine them any way you’d like, even if your imagination contradicts descriptions from the story. Enjoy!~
