《Shadow》Part two Patton's perspective

I wake up in the treehouse laying on an air mattress. Logan is sitting next to me checking my blood pressure. "Good, you have awoken. Last night you fainted due to stress as you fell from a great height. However, you were protected by a force field that kept your injuries to a minimum. I texted your family so that they would not worry about your location. Now you should probably get dressed and cover up the abrasion on your epidermis if you would like to be driven to school by me." I laugh a bit. "Logan I understood only a few words of that, I guess you could say that what I understood was infinitesimal." He takes a deep breath before responding. "That was one time, in kindergarten Patton! Now please go get changed so I can mask the damage to your face." I grab the spare set of clothes I left here the last time I was here and he leaves so I can get changed quickly.

Logan normally is an unfeeling person but he felt worried and a little guilty, which was weird for him. Being an empath can be hard because I feel what others are feeling, but it also means that I can help my friends out with their emotions before they even understand them. Nobody knows about my power and I like it that way because I don't want people to try to manipulate it.

Logan walks back in with some makeup and two plates of toast with jam which I can only assume is Crofters. He hands me my plate and starts covering the bruise I have. Once he is done we eat our food in science and I start to realize some of his emotions that I hadn't seen before, he has a crush. Oh my God, the motionless Logan has a crush, how long has he had one that I haven't known about. "So Logan is there anyone special in your life?" He looks at me for a moment. "Besides Roman who can shoot fire from his hands I am not sure I haven't seen anyone else use any powers but I cannot be certain." I laugh a bit because he really misunderstood the question. "I meant in the romantic sense kiddo." "Patton you know that I am not one for mushy feelings they are the bane of my existence." I internally eyeroll because I know that is untrue, and I am hoping that he has a crush on my but he probably doesn't. "We should probably leave now if I wish to meet Virgil and you, Roman before school." He says snapping me back into reality. "Yeppers!" I know that he has given up on my grammar already. We pack up quickly and he and I get into his car to drive to school, it ends up being a quiet ride aside from me making dad jokes.

When we get to school I have barely gotten my things out of the car and finished thanking Logan when Roman runs up to me and hugs me. "I am so sorry I never should have let you get hurt." I hug him back tightly. "It's okay kiddo, really it wasn't that bad." He then looks over at Logan who is walking away. "Thanks, Logan you really helped out." "Access to adequate medical care is a basic human right, I was simply making sure that it was achieved. Please do inform me if his condition changes though because we may need to do further testing if it does. But you are still welcome, I am grateful that you came to me for medical care." He smiles a little and I can feel how proud he is. "Well thanks, Logan now go find your emo nightmare of a friend," Roman says.

He then takes me to class even though we are really early so that he can tell the teacher that I hit my head yesterday and may be a little out of it. I decide to take out my headphones and computer to work on a new piece of music that I have been writing. It is a light and airy song with a focus on the flute and clarinet.

It is going well, when I see Roman's crush walk in so I nudge him. "Hey surely temple." He says, and I put away my things so that we all can talk. "Hi, Virgil!" I say cheerily. That's weird he feels really guilty and angry, normally his anxiety takes over as his main emotion but today it is guilt. "Everything okay kiddo?" I swear I recognize this emotional signature, but I don't know where it is from. "Why wouldn't it be!" He hisses at me, and his anxiety starts coming trough more. "No reason just checking," I say and he relaxes a bit. "Chill out doctor gloom." Says Roman, feeling a little annoyed and protective. I decided to just start working because the emotions are getting to be a little overwhelming.

After school Roman is determined to keep me in tonight so he has made an arrangement with Logan to have him keep me with him when Roman goes on patrol. He has even convinced Logan to handcuff me so I won't escape. This feels like a bit much but honestly, I don't mind being handcuffed by Logan though.

And after he has cuffed me he takes off the make up he put on me and starts doing another checkup for me. He starts by taking my blood pressure, and blood sugar levels. Then he does some tests to see if I am concussed, like shining a light in my eyes and hitting my knees. He finishes by using a stethoscope on me to check my heart rate. "You seem to be doing exceptionally well considering what occurred last night." He says with a little grin, he is feeling really relieved but still a little worried. Aww is he worried about me, that's so sweet.

He tucks me into bed since I have already texted my parents and gotten ready. Even though he pretends to be super serious all of the time he really is a sweetheart. And he feels so calm and happy right now it relaxes me a bit. I know what people are feeling but I also feel a bit of it, that is why I can't hang out with Virgil as much as I would like to because he is so anxious and he doesn't know how to block me from feeling it, mainly since he doesn't know I feel them.
