《The Other Nikiforov》Pavement Yuuri
Advertisement
"Stupid hard to find rink!"
Yuuri swore the rink couldn't be too far, Viktor had given him clear enough instructions where to find the place since he was too busy doing...he honestly didn't know what Viktor was doing...sigh....probably shopping or something. St Peterburgh so much bigger than Hasetsu, like A LOT bigger, he should of asked for a map - or would that of made him sound like an incompetent idiot that couldn't follow instructions - like that mattered now anyway! Yakov was going to crucify him!
"Ok so I was supposed to make a right at the statue...or was it a left....I'm so lost," Yuuri cried from fustration, falling to his knees as he thought of all the ways Yakov was going to kill him. Detroit was never this bad!
"Excuse me, are you lost?"
Yuuri looked up, quickly wishing he hadn't, standing over him was a pretty young girl with big sky blue eyes that seemed to be half filled with worry and half filled with amusement, while her long silver hair followed effortlessly in the breeze. "Viktor?"
There was a flash of what seemed to be annoyance in the girls blue eyes but it quickly vanished as she brushed her grey hair out of her face and offered a hand to help the fallen Japanese man onto his feet, "Try Katrina."
Stood up on his feet now, Yuuri couldn't believe how silly he had been to assume this young petite teenage girl was his fiancé/coach yet he couldn't shake the feeling that there was something very familiar about her.
The long grey hair.
The sky blue eyes.
The way she smiled.
It was kinda creepy but he shook it off as coincidence – there were millions of brown haired and brown eyed guys like him in japan after all. "Thank you, Katrina was it?"
"It was no problem, are you looking for somewhere specifically?"
"You don't by any chance know where the ice rink was around here?"
"It's this way," Katrina grabbed his wrist, marching Yuuri in the opposite direction to the way he had been walking, "your sense of direction must be pretty poor," wow she was even as blunt as Viktor, "but its fine , everyone gets lost every once in a while with all the crowds if you don't know where you're going. Is this your first time in St Petersburg?"
"N-no well last time I didn't get to see much and I kinda had one of the locals showing me around," Yuuri rambled as he was pulled along by, a surprisingly strong teenage girl.
"Oh really?" She looked over her shoulder to the Japanese man, did this girl even need to look where she was going? "I think that's the best way to view the city, being with someone you care about."

"C-care about? I umm yeah," Yuuri stuttered, he knew that if there would ever be an anime about his life he'd definitely be the cinnamon roll character. Hands down.
"aww" she smiled, being caught up in one of her own memories for a second, "yes, it truly is the best way to explore a city with the one you care about."
"So you have a boyfriend then or...?" Yuuri asked noting her expression.
"Are you hitting on me old man?" well that was a stab in the gut for the 24 year old skater, "Yuuri, I'm 15," she laughed, "sorry too young for you."
"Wait how do you know my names Yuuri-"
"Here we are!"
Yuuri hadn't realised it but she had actually dragged him into the rink, with a group of unpleased to see him skaters already gathered on the ice watching, "how did you-"
"YOUR LATE," Yakov strode over with his booming, clearly angry at the moment, voice ricocheting off the walls.
Yuuri braced himself for one of the beatings/shouting barrages Viktor had told him about to find that the Russian coach wasn't even shouting at him.
"KATRINA."
"Calm down Geezer," Katrina didn't even blink at having the red faced coach shouting right at her, crossing her arms in a nonchalant fashion, "I ran into this guy trying to find the rink, I'll go get changed now ok. You know stress is bad for your heart so lets take the volume down a decibel or ten," she smiled sweetly.
Anyone else would have gotten a thrashing but Yakov sighed, pushing the brim of his hat over his eyes, "10 minutes then I want you warmed up and in the ballet studio."
"Yes coach," Katrina gave him a little salute before running in the direction of the female changing rooms.
Yakov's attention firmly on Yuuri now, oh man Yuuri was just trying to not wetting himself, "I expect you to not inconvenient one of my skaters again."
"Y-yes sir!" Yuuri managed to stutter out, Yakov was known as one of the scariest skating coaches in the world – even ice hockey coaches wouldn't try to argue over ice time with him when he was in a bad mood. Yakov was about to walk away when a thought came to mind, "Katrina's one of your skaters?"
"Katrina's one of my best," Yakov stopped, not looking at the Japanese skater though, "a three time junior champion, she won the female singles division at the Grand Prix last year, has cheographed for herself since she was 12 and one of the few females in the world that can land quads."
'What!' Yuuri was actually speechless, Katrina was a prodigy by that standard yet he hadn't recognised her,

"Then again," Yakov sighed, looking over his shoulder as he heard a door close and a streak of grey whizzed past them heading straight for the ice.
Everything and everyone had seemed to stop to look at her, simply dressed in a black skater skirt and a long black cold shoulder top, it was then Yuuri realised with all the pieces seeming to fall into place, black skates with golden blades and her hair tied high into a pony tail to keep her long grey locks out of her sky blue eyes.
"Would you expect less from Vityas' little sister?"
Feeling a gaze settle on her, Katrina looked over to see the Japanese skater with his mouth hanging open and his eyes wider than she had ever seen before, or thought possible, she tilted her head in confusion, "what's wrong Yuuri?"
Oh man she really was Viktor's sister.
"why didn't you say you are Vik-"Yuuri was elbowed in the stomach before he could finish his sentence by a very familiar looking mop of blonde hair.
"I wouldn't go there if I were you," Yuri gave him a look of warning, unknown the Yuuri that he was saving the 'Japanese Piggy' from a worse fate than if he had continued that sentence.
"Yuri!" Katrina was over in a flash, hugging the now flustered Yuri from behind, resting her head on his shoulder, luckily she hadn't heard the conversation beforehand, "Yuri I think you know pavement Yuuri."
'Pavement Yuuri?' Yuuri was wondering if this was how Yuri felt when his sister had assigned him the name Yurio – couldn't be worse than piggy right?
"the fat piggy? Yes we met last year unfortunately," Yuri replied bluntly, to Yuuri's actual surprise the blonde teen hadn't pulled away from her affection and was actually relaxing, a tiny tiny bit, into it....
"aww see you can make friends without me," she teased the blonde haired boy but it wasn't in the least in a malicious way more like...flirty teasing, "pretty sure Yakovs going to shout at me again any second, coffee later ok?"
Yuri was a little pink, actually way better than a few months ago when he'd go bright red, but simply gave her a small smile and nodded with a sigh, "fine."
"See you later pavement Yuuri," she gave Yuuri a small wave as well before skating off towards the centre of the ice.
"Ok I need a second to process all this because I'm getting A LOT of information thrown at me here," Yuri was overwhelmed by what he had learnt in the last few minutes and was 10 seconds away from a break down...like last year's Cup of China level break down.
Yuri looked over at Katrina, now chatting with Mila – the cow probably picking her brain about chorography, dragging Yuuri away by his jacket, "best if we get out of ear shot," the young blonde mumbled.
Once out of Katrina's ear shot, Yuri sighed, still not clearly happy by what he was about to say – the damn piggy should of kept his mouth shut, "Do. Not. Bring Viktor up around Katrina."
Yuuri blinked, he didn't expect that, "why? Did something happen?"
Yuri rubbed the back of his neck, trying to think about how to put this best, "I guess you noticed the 'family resemblance' da?"
"yeah, I thought she was Viktor for a second..."
"You're lucky she didn't kick you in the face for that Piggy," and from the face Yuri was pulling, Yuuri didn't doubt that for a second with his arms crossed in front of his chest. "Viktor was...," Yuri digging his finger nails into his arms, as if just talking was bringing up bad memories and hesitating with his words, "everyone thought they'd be ok, they were always close and always smiling....until things changed...he broke her heart."
"Broke her heart.....wait is she-"
"SHES NOT MY GIRLFRIEND!" And Yuri was bright pink again.
Yuuri wasn't even going to ask that...

Hi there!
So I recently fell out of writing for a while just because the projects I was doing didn't inspire me much more to continue writing especially with how busy uni is keeping me that I didn't feel particularly motivated or inspired enough to continue. I may loop back around to some stuff but for now I want to concentrate on this story after being re-inspired by Yuri on Ice and explore a few things that intrigued me - namely Viktors family and the repercussions of him leaving Russia during season 1 of YOI, as well as a fondness for a certain blonde russian punk, and thus the character Katrina was born in my head!
By the way, I love hearing peoples ideas, some even got into previous stories I did in the past, so if any of you guys have ideas then feel free to comment or message me as even though I have general ideas where I want things to go (yup this girl has been making plans since early YOI episodes and is finally getting a chance to sit down and write) I never miss an opportunity for people to give me little subplots, drabbles, etc which I as an individual would have never thought of on my own.
Or just comment on how much you love YOI :D
