《Cubits Can't Save You Now (In Progress)》Chapter 16: Meet The Breadwinners

"Woah, slow your roll, bap!" Swaysway told Buhdeuce.
"Let's just introduce ourselves and then we'll get back to our deliveries because it's our DUTY AS A BREADWINNEEEERR!"
"..You just had to pull the 'duty as a Breadwinner' card." Said Buhdeuce.
(Fun Fact: This is a reference to an episode of Breadwinners called "Food Fight Club".)
Buhdeuce then cleared his throat and then he introduced himself and Swaysway, and then Niksput introduced himself afterwards, and then Peg and Cat did the same thing.
"So why did you guys come here?" Asked Swaysway.
"We were trying to get away from The Darkness which is this glitchy goop that corrupts everyone it touches!" Peg told Swaysway.
The two bread-delivery ducks paused in shock.
"That.. is actually horrifying." Said Swaysway.
"Well, it's the truth, after all. You just can't beat that." Admitted Niksput.
Cut to somewhere else in the city of Pondgea, whereas we see Rambamboo writing a speeding ticket for a duck in a red sports car. When she was done writing the ticket, she slams it onto the windshield and tells the duck to follow the rules or else he'll go to the slammer. After that, the duck in the sports car drove off nonchalantly.
"Heh, still got it." Chuckled Rambamboo as she brushed off her shoulder.
Static was heard in the background, causing Rambamboo to go into a shocked expression and immediately look behind herself. She yelped when she found Corrupted Flain suddenly behind her back, with The Darkness leaking from his head through his prongs, out of his beak, on his legs, and on his pincers.
"Excuse me, you're on the road. GET ON THE SIDEWALK BEFORE YOU GET RUN OVER, LAW-BREAKER!" Shouted Rambamboo.
But Corrupted Flain didn't listen. He walked closer to Rambamboo, and then he snatched her hat and ran into an alley.

"HEY, THAT'S BURGLARY ON A LICENSED COP!" Barled Rambamboo.
Rambamboo used her jetpack and zoomed towards the corrupted Infernite. When he and she finally got to the end of the alley, Rambamboo snatched back her hat, put it on herself, and held Corrupted Flain up. However, large amounts of static began to sound out, and it came from a portal in front of Rambamboo herself. Inside the portal was a dark blue hallway full of portals to millions and millions of cartoons, along with another corrupted Infernite named Meltus.
"..Sir, is this graffiti? I can file you for two rules being broken at once and you do NOT want that!" Rambamboo told Corruped Flain.
"Ţhāť w0ñ'ţ bə ňęćč駺@rý." Said Corrupted Flain.
"!'vë ţhė můłť!vêŕşě j-j-j-jûśț țô s-s-šīmpľý ńûļľ øut @łļ óf ťhě ćhåô§ śpřəađ thřôůģhoųț. Wøûlďn'ț ý0ů ł!kę ļīke ťhăț? A wőŕļđ without harm?"
Rambamboo thought about what Corrupted Flain said. Sure he said he wanted to remove chaos from the multiverse, but that didn't mean she couldn't file him for breaking two rules.
"Just because you're doing something good for the multiverse doesn't mean up can't go to jail. YOU BROKE TWO LAWS AND YOU KNOW IT!" Barked Rambamboo as she looked at Corrupted Flain in the eyes.
But Corrupted Flain said nothing. He stared at Rambamboo, and did nothing. Corrupted Meltus walked out of the portal, and ran towards Rambamboo.
"býę!" Exclaimed Corrupted Meltus.
"Okay, DO YOU BOTH WANNA GO TO THE SLAMMER-" Rambamboo suddenly got interrupted by Corrupted Flain blasting The Darkness onto her face from the top of his head.
Rambamboo dropped Flain and attempted to pull The Darkness off her face, but it just wouldn't budge. The two corrupted Infernites walked back into the portal.
*Commercial Break*
Cut to the rocket van in the air with Niksput (with Peg and Cat holding onto him) flying next to said rocket van. One of Scorpi's ears can be seen poking out of the back of the rocket van through the space between the two doors. Niksput told Swaysway and Buhdeuce all about the Darkness just to keep them aware (and safe) so that they could know to protect themselfes from it.

"Wow, this 'Darkness' problem really must've messed you guys up, huh?" Swaysway told Niksput.
"Tell me about it! What's worse is it can travel through universes so even if you leave your home, it'll still take you alive!" Complained Niksput.
"AND I'm pretty sure me and Rokit are now traumatized because of this ever since Nurp-Naut got corrupted."
"..Wow, I bet you must've had even the guts to face all that, huh?" Asked Swaysway.
"Not only that, but this guy saved me and Peg! He's a real hero!" Exclaimed Cat.
Cut to somewhere in the sky. A corrupted Rambamboo slowly flies up into the sky from the bottom of the scene, her mouth hanging wide open and leaking The Darkness from out her mouth. Corrupted Rambamboo flew to the right side of the rocket van and bashed against it, causing the rocket van to bash against Niksput, causing Cat to yelp as he almost fell until he grabbed Peg's green dress. This bash also caused Buhdeuce to fall out of his seat on his left side.
"Ow, bubble nuggets!" Said Buhdeuce.
"What the, how'd you fall?" Swaysway asked Buhdeuce.
As if to answer, Corrupted Rambamboo bashed against the van again, causing Swaysway to yelp. Buhdeuce climbed on top of his seat and looked out the window, only to find that Rambamboo has been corrupted by the Darkness.
"AGH, THE DARKNESS GOT RAMBAMBOO!" Shouted Buhdeuce.
Buhdeuce then generated a fist from his chest to punch the lever down, which caused the rocket van to blast past Niksput, Peg, Cat, and Corrupted Rambamboo.
"But what about us, Buhdeuce?" Called Cat.
Suddenly, before Niksput could blast towards the rocket van, Corrupted Rambamboo bashed against Niksput, causing him, Peg, and Cat to fall. However, all three of them and Corrupted Rambamboo suddenly glitched into Springfield with three of the survivors being on the roof of the Simpsons' house while Corrupted Rambamboo was just hovering over them. Niksput grabbed Peg and Cat and then he flew off towards the left of the Simpsons' house, and then Corrupted Rambamboo chased after him.
*Commercial Break*
Niksput was zigzagging all around the city part of Springfield inder the night sky with Corrupted Rambamboo on his tail, but then he spotted a donut shop nearby, so he flew in there. When he flew into the entrance, Corrupted Rambamboo missed and flew to the right side of the donut shop and slammed onto the concrete ground. Panting of worry, our three survivors were about to decide to settle in this donut shop until a cashier (clearly underage judging by the acne on his face) spoke up to them.
"Excuse me, you're going to have to pay for that French door." The cashier told the three survivors with many voice cracks in his tone.
"..Uh, is it okay if I sing you a song instead?" Asked Peg as she pulled out her ukulele.
She was about to inhale as if to start singing, but she was interrupted with yet another reminder from the cashier.
"Sorry, cash or credit only." Apologized the cashier.

Leftover Apocalypse
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] This is a story about the newly-adult Calliope Smith having a terrible day that ends in her getting mysteriously teleported from Phoenix, Arizona to a fantasy world where her life is in constant danger. She considers this an upgrade. Someone evil is looking for her, and she doesn't know why. Someone who seems to know a lot about her has promised they'll help her, but she doesn't know who they are. All that matters to Callie is that magic is real and one way or another she's going to learn it. The end of the world is coming up, sure, but Callie won't need to worry about that. In fact, by the time she even finds out about it one of the doomsday devices will already be destroyed, and the authorities will be well on the way to dealing with the other one. It's fine. Everything will be smooth sailing. Almost certainly. Probably. Chapters are usually about 2500-3500 words, and the goal is to post 2-3 per week but I sometimes get busy or have some writers block. It's your standard portal fantasy / Isekai premise, but unlike some the main character's time on Earth and how she got pulled into another world will (eventually) be explored. Some slight GameLit-feeling stuff later, no menus or level-ups but there's something suspiciously like a skill tree when the magic system gets going. No number crunching, and while the main character will get to do some silly stuff she won't be a god like in some fics (and will in fact spend a lot of time being badly outclassed by her enemies). Some reader interaction, ranging from adding to the worldbuilding to occasionally making big important decisions about skill progression. Please note that the main character is flawed and impulsive, and will make some stupid decisions. That's part of the story, but I get that it's not for everyone. Trigger Warnings: Foster care system references, crappy parenting. Some mental health adjacent stuff, specifically the main character has some issues where she experiences varying levels of empathy and emotional vulnerability depending on the day (it's complicated and not meant to portray any real-world conditions). Occasional violence including mention of death and grievous bodily harm, but no detailed descriptions of gore.

Follow the story of Tai as he travels the Aether Universe, getting used to the new normal, making a name for himself and becoming a legend. --Author's Note-- This is my first book here and this book is inspired by The Legend of Randidly Ghosthound. The way to get status points were based on the way in Unlimited Power - The Arcane Path. Note: I'm only borrowing the way to get status points as I thought it was cool. I am an amateur author and am writing this as a cool hobby to get me through quarantine. If you see any grammar mistakes or anything, please let me know. Criticism is accepted, but don't use that as an excuse to just hate the book. If you don't like the book, tell me why so I can improve upon it. Cheers! Schedule: 1 chap a day

If I make any errors, either in spelling or in grammer, please let me know, and I will endevour to correct them ASAP. I was inspired to create this story after reading the Scale Dungeon, by TheSilverGunner, here on RRL. It is a good story, despite having only a few chapter out at the time of writing this. I highly recommend that you read that story if you find this one interesting.
