(Things to note; this is a modern remake of Twilight /2022/ and also vampires burn, but don't worry most of them have daylight rings, necklaces or bracelets also imprinting is the equivalent of a mate.)

Valentine Swan, the older brother by five minutes of Bella Swan, but for twins they weren't that close. I mean, he had to live with her every day so they were at least civil, but they couldn't be in a conversation for more few minutes before an argument sparked.

They had little to nothing in common, but they both love their mother and decided to let her travel the world as she had always wanted with her new husband Phil. They had decided to move to forks with their father, which was a small town in Washington DC and the rainiest place in all of the United States.

That was a huge change from where they lived; Phoenix, which only rain about three or four times a year as it was always sunny. But they were willing to make that sacrifice to let their mother travel the world with her beloved. They both decided it was best for them to move with their father for the rest of their high school year.

Which were a year and a half. 18 months of self-imprisonment, because if you think about it Forks was like a small-town prison, always rainy and gloomy; but even while they exiled themselves it didn't make it any less easy.

"Are you guys sure about this?" Renée Valentine's mother asks them, her eyes a little sad, but that glint of the excitement of the future made it all worth it.

"Mom, we told you this is what we want," Valentine told her for the hundredth time, which was a bald-faced lie, but unlike his sister, he was an excellent liar, mostly because when they used to visit their father in Forts he and his playmate that he still remembered till this day, Jake used to lie their asses off when they got in trouble and they were pretty damn good at it. He was pretty sure Bella already forgot about his childhood friend seeing as Bella made it a habit to not acquaint herself with any of his friends.

As a kid he remembered taking care of Jake like a little brother, they cried their ass off when Valentine had to go back to Phoenix. He wonders how Jake looked now.

"Okay but call me if you need anything or if you just want to come back and visit, I will be right there." Their mother assured them, a genuine smile on her soft face.

"It's okay mom, we'll be fine," Bella told her smiling softy.

"I'll be fine, I don't know about Bella," Valentine said with a roll of his green eyes.

"Valentine be nice to your sister." Their Mom lectured. Valentine grimace but nodded his head.

Bella wasn't a good liar, but they'd been telling her this for the past three months and it became a force of habit. Maybe Bella actually made herself believe what she's been repeating for so long.

Their mother smiled looking at them warmly, "okay, remember to call." She reminded them.

"We will Mom, promise," Valentine promised. Valentine gave his Mom a reassuring hug, his last reassuring hug for a while it seemed. As Phil put their belongings and the trunk of the car, he would be the one dropping them off at the airport.

After that they got in the car, Philip in the driver's seat, Valentine of course calling shotgun as he was the oldest, it didn't help the fact he liked to see things passing by as they drove, it helped inspire his creative side.

After the ride to the airport, they took a 3-hour flight. When they finally made it they were picked up by Charlie, their father. He honestly seemed genuinely pleased to have them, but they all knew it would be awkward since they hadn't seen their father for at least a couple of years.

Bella was more like their father than Valentine was, for example, her inability to hold a conversation for more than a minute. Valentine though wasn't like either of his parents with an untrusting and unmoving appeal that either drew people in or out of his enter circle. Usually the latter.

"Hey, Dad," Valentine said with a smile, side hugging his father, Bella though only stood there awkwardly. Luckily for her, Charlie didn't hover.

"How have you been?" Charlie asked.

Bella let out an awkward straining sound, averting eye contact. Valentine rolled his eyes at his sister's social inability to even answer an everyday question.

"Good dad, you?" Valentine smiled.

"Same... um, let's get going," Charlie said gesturing to his car.

When they pulled to the two-story house Valentine couldn't help but smile.

When Charlie parked the car Bella was the first to get out.

Getting their suite cases with the help of Charlie they walked into the house, hands full.

"I'll take Bella to her room; you can find you I'm assuming Valentine?" Charlie asked, ever the gentleman.

"Yeah dad, give me some directions and I'm sure I can make it, I'm not that incompetent." Valentine smiled indirectly making a gab at his sister without making his father suspicious, but Bella couldn't help the sneer she sent her brothers' way.

She clearly got the meaning.

Valentine smirked at her.

"Up the stars to the right, the door next to the bathroom." Charlie directed, Valentine, nodded his head, and made his way up the stairs.

Once he made it, he felt a feeling akin to nostalgia.

His old bed, the little nightlight on the dresser he used when Jake spent the night because he was scared of the dark, the dog stuffie he forgot, and all of his old knickknacks and trinkets. Books that were far too advanced for a child of six.

He sighed placing his suite case down and falling face-first into the soft bed.
