We got in the car about an hour ago and we were still on the highway. This trip to see someone was taking longer than I expected. I put on my headphones and began to scroll on social media waiting for this ride to be over.
"Hey look. Almost there." My dad pointed to a sign that said "Welcome to Portland."
"What are we doing in Portland?" I asked."
"This is where my friend lives sweetie." He said laughing.
I put my headphones back on and began to scroll through social media again. The car stopped and I looked up and we were in front of a house. It was a big house. It wasn't to big but big enough for a family of 6 or 8.
"Come on." My dad said getting out.
We walked to the front door and my dad knocked on the door and a women answered.
"Hi Eric." She said hugging him.
"Hey Keri." He said hugging her back.
"You most be Brea. Your father talks about you a lot." She said shaking my hand.
I let out a small laugh. She welcomed us in. I took off my shoes and followed my dad and Keri to the living room.
"Brea this is my daughter Anna. Anna this is brea." She said signaling to a girl with blonde hair on the couch. She stood up and shook my hand.
I sat down on the couch next to Anna.
"Brea we have to tell you something, Anna you already know." My dad said.
"Yeah What is it?" I started to worry.
My dad grabbed Keri's hand and held it.
"Keri and I have been seeing each other for a year now. And we thought it was the best idea if we moved in with each other." My dad said.

I sat there confused.
"What do you mean move in with each other?" I Said.
"Keri and I are engaged and we thought it was the best idea if we moved in." My dad said.
"When do we have to move?" I asked.
"The truck is coming in 3 days." My dad said.
"So I have 3 days to pack up everything and say goodbye to all my friends." I Said looking at the ground.
My dad sighed.
"Yes." He said.
I didn't know what I was feeling at the moment but Anna placed her hand on mine.
"Hey we'll get through this together." She whispered.
I nodded my head. I was mad that my dad didn't tell me. Was he scared to tell me or something. I had no reason to get mad at Keri and Anna they haven't done anything wrong to me. I just needed to process everything.
"Anna do you want to go out back with brea while I get dinner ready?" She said.
Anna looked at me and I looked at her. I nodded my head and I walked outside with her. We sat on some lawn chairs and looked at the garden.
"At least you'll get your own room." She turned to me and smiled.
"That will be nice." I Said.
"So brea tell me a little about yourself." Anna said.
"Well I just turned 18 last month, I'm a senior in high school. I drive a Honda." I laughed.
"What about you Anna?" I asked.
"I'm 17, I'm a junior and I don't have a car." She laughed.
Anna and I got to know a little bit about each other. She sounded like an amazing person.
"Hey why not I show you your new room." She said smiling ear to ear.

"I would love that." I got up and followed her inside. I waved to Keri and my dad who were making some pasta. We went up the stairs and there was a long hallway.
"Okay my mom and your dads room will be this door right here. Then this door to the left is my room. And then all the way down the hall will be your room." We walked to the end of the hallway and the room was of course empty. And it had a small closet near the door. Then right I front of where my bed would go was a bathroom. I walked in the bathroom and I noticed that their was another door.
"Why is there another door?" I asked.
"Oh you will be sharing this bathroom with my brother Daniel." She said opening the door. I looked inside and their was a bed and a smell of cologne.
"Where is he?" I asked.
"Oh he's in a band and they are on tour right now. Daniel will be home in a few days." She said.
"Oh cool." I Said and she shut the door.
"Let's go downstairs and get our drinks ready for dinner." Anna said.
We walked downstairs and got in the cup cabinet. I grabbed a glass and Anna opened the fridge and I grabbed a tea jug. I poured some tea in my glass and set it near my seat at the table. Anna and I sat down next to each other and she pulled out her phone.
"You want to do a boomerang on instagram?" She asked and I said 'of course'. I kissed her cheek and she smiled. I told her my instagram and she tag me in the photo. I set down my phone and Keri brought over the pasta.
"Looks delicious Keri." I Said looking at the food.
"Just wait until you try it." She said scoping me some pasta.
We ate the food Keri cooked and it was sooo amazing. My dad doesn't really cook so having a home cook meal was the best thing ever.
I looked at my phone at the end of dinner and my instagram was blowing up. 5k followers. Ummm I only had 546 followers about an hour ago. I looked at the photo Anna tag me on in her story. It said 'can't wait for this girl to move in with me. I finally have a sister! well step sister.' Then she tagged me. She has 143k followers... wow. Her brother most be famous or something.
I helped clean the dishes and me and my father were heading out.
"I'll see you in a couple of days baby." He kissed Keri on her cheek.
"See you soon Keri and Anna." I hugged them.
We went home and I fell asleep in the car. I felt arms pick me up and I opened my eyes a little. My dad was carrying me up to my room. He set me on the bed and kissed my forehead. He then shut the door. I was to lazy to change so I just slept in my clothes.

Obligate of a Self-Ordained Sorcerer
Come join the Discord! It was a typical late-night friday for Mara, secluded in her apartment in front of a digital expanse, relentlessly mashing code into a keyboard. An introverted workaholic, but this was what she wanted - what she had strived so hard to achieve. So why did she feel so lost? Her life was productive, comfortable, satisfying. Plenty had it worse but she still felt... ungrateful? Stunted? The right word escaped her, but she could feel the general revelation settling upon her. With it came a choice that would set events in motion far beyond the meager scope of a 'New Game+'. So taking an intrusive portal to god-knows-where, Mara will come to find that her new world offers boons and banes with equal abandon. Magic, skills, and unforgiving difficulty. For a frail human shut-in, finding herself stranded in the middle of a sprawling dungeon was one of the least desirable outcomes. Food and water would be the least of her problems, why oh why couldn't she just get summoned by some pervy king to slay a demon army or something? This is a story of magic and adventure with skills and stats galore. A litrpg / isekai epic that I've been inspired to make after years of wonderful works like "So I'm a Spider," "Rimuru the Slime," "Azarinth Healer," "Negima!?," and plethora of other isekai and fantasy novels and animes. Special shout-out to Douglas Adams, a big influence on narative humor that's had a non-insignificant effect on my writing style. I hope you enjoy joining Mara on her journey as I attempt to scratch the itch they left behind.Chapters target 3-6k~ words. Though I'm personally aiming for a chapter every couple weeks, I think I can at least promise one a month with how busy work's been. I made a Patreon due to requests, if you'd like to support me there I'll be using it to fund artwork and RR ads for increased exposure.
