"and then i met up with him after the game and we talked."
you were currently sitting in the kitchen table with mika and suguru while mika broke down their breakup and then them getting back together.
"then we got together again." suguru stood up and walked over to the fridge.
"imagine breaking up because someone was too into volleyball." you sneered at your cousin.
"shut up." he pulled out a bottle of water and handed it over to mika.
"now you're all soft and whipped for her." you watched as suguru stood behind mika.
"like you are for your boyfriend." suguru accused.
"excuse me, i am not whipped." you quickly said.
"yes you are." mika and suguru both said at the same time.
"am not."
"why don't we give him a call?" suguru asked.
"he's probably still at practice." you checked the time. kita's practices were ruthless on weekends.
"and what does he do after practice?"
"depends. if it's school days then he walks me home and if it's weekends he goes home and i come over later after he showers." you answered.
"and what do you do when he gets hurt?" suguru pressed on.
"the most hurt he ever had was a bloody nose. I'm always the one getting hurt." you admitted.
"and what did you do when he had the bloody nose?"
"why the questions? but i told him it was his fault for showing up unannounced at my house on the weekend before we were actually dating."
"how romantic." suguru crossed his arms and leaned forwards so they were against mika's chair.
"i know right."
"so what stage are you two at?" he asked.
"stage?"
"like you guys at the love stage yet?"

"uh. no."
"and why not?" mika spoke this time.
"because.."
they both stared at you while waiting for you to finish your sentence.
"so you're in denial." mika concluded and looked up at suguru.
"i agree." he said. "do you want some of my great love advice?"
"no, not really." you said honestly, but he ignored you.
"don't break up for a stupid reason."
mika slapped his arm. "wasn't planning to." you drawled and leaned back in the chair, balancing on the back two legs.
"just saying." suguru raised his hands up.
"why are you dating this idiot?" you asked mika.
"hey!" suguru exclaimed, slightly offended.
"who gives relationship advice and says "don't break up." what class are you even in?" mika turned around and accused her boyfriend.
"just making sure." he said and leaned down to kiss her forehead. "and we're in the same class genius."
"oh really?" she asked. "never noticed you."
you watched the two bicker and turned your head towards the one who was talking.
it made you miss atsumu more than you already did
you looked down at your phone and decided if you should call him. the decision was made for you when a text came in.
: im in pain
: what'd you do
: why do you assume i did something
: tell me
: i ACCIDENTALLY got into a fight with a couple guys when they walked by our house
: on accident?
: yes
: complete accident
: did you win?
: i think so
: is ur face messed up
: you're so nice
: call me. i wanna see
you walked out of the kitchen and left the couple alone there while you went to the bedroom.
"hey." atsumu greeted the second you picked up.

"let me see your face." you demanded.
"it's not bad. you make it sound like a got an eye poked out." he sighed and propped the phone up on his desk.
"it's very ugly." osamu jumped off the top bunk and out of the room.
"it's not ugly." atsumu raised his eyebrows and looked over at osamu who didn't close the door.
you inspected his face and saw a bruise against his cheekbone and one cut against his jaw.
"not bad." you spoke up and atsumu turned his head back to you. "how did you get into the fight anyway?"
"they were talking shit about this certain girl from this certain neighborhood that this certain guy was in- dating."
he paused and looked to see if you noticed his minor slip up, but you didn't.
"and i obviously had to defend my girl because that's what a good boyfriend does." he continued.
"are you proud?" he asked and stared at your face.
"oh wow." you bought your legs up to your chest and wrapped the jacket around your body.
"are you?" he asked again, now a little worried for your answer.
"you should've filmed it." you said and atsumu frowned. "but yes i am proud." his frown disappeared and a huge smile replaced it.
"i knew you would be."
"do they have bruises and cuts too?" you asked.
"who do you think i am? of course they do." atsumu said and sat up straighter. "it was embarrassing that mom had to come and break up apart though."
"what about osamu?"
"he joined in the fight after one idiot said shit about you." atsumu frowned. "but yeah they look worse than us."
"they better. you should've recorded it."
"we should've."
"just stop the fight half way and set up your phone in the perfect angle."
"is that atsumu?" suguru threw the door open and you nearly fell off the chair when he shoved you aside.
"what's your fascination with my boyfriend?" you asked and regained your balance on the chair.
suguru pushed you over so he could sit.
so you pushed him down until he was on the floor.
"what does your twin look like?" suguru asked and pushed your aside.
"they're twin. what do you think?" you asked him and moved to stand behind the car to try and tilt the chair so he fell.
"he's the uglier twin."
"i am not." osamu reentered the room and looked into the phone.
"there's a grey one." suguru's attention was on osamu's hair and yours was on his face.
he had one cut under his eye and a bruise on his jaw. the opposite of what atsumu has.
"well you look ugly." you blinked and osamu glared at you.
"have you looked in the mirror lately?"

Simon sincerely believed he was saving Morgan's life when he pushed her off the second-story roof of her family farmhouse. To be fair, his mother was burning it to the ground at the time. But Morgan Mumford, a lonely outcast with a chip on her shoulder and a full skeleton of remarkably unbroken bones, is not particularly convinced of his good intentions. Because the instant he pushed her over Simon also whisked Morgan into the realm of Hinterland: a shadowy world that is a perfect replica of their home town of Coching. But Hinterland is a hungry and dangerous place, where ordinary objects have taken on a life of their own. In Hinterland you might be ambushed by a gang of motorcycles or eaten alive by a duplex. And by god, you run from scissors. Morgan is now trapped in this hostile realm, unable to find a way home. Hunted relentlessly by Aqualung, an evil-minded Buick Skylark with a love for Jethro Tull and hatred for all things on two legs, she is forced to join a ragtag band of fellow castaways to ensure her survival. But the embittered leader of these children has plans of his own, and before long Morgan finds herself swept into his vendetta against Hinterland's imperious ruler: Simon's mother, who commands the living, breathing town to do her bidding and schemes to transform it into something worse than it is now. Something ravenous. It's time for Morgan to decide whether to ditch her new allies and find her own way out of the belly of the beast, or stay and help her fellow outcasts weather the violent feud that brews on the horizon.

***Disclaimer*** I wrote and am writing this purely for my own amusement. That means that this could have major revisions done to it sporadically, it has more grammar errors than even the most mentally stable grammar nazi could withstand, and will not update at all regularly. This is an ad-hoc fun experimental work with forced motives, plotholes, and static characters. Don't expect too much. That said, this mutated mistake of a short novella follows a ditzy MC who has been transported to a new world with the dubiously useful skills origin and enigma and the obnoxiously imbalanced skill, traveler. If you'd like more incentive to give it a shot, you will never get spoilers about the plot because there isn't one (Actual synopsis coming soon, relative to eternity)
