"I remembered something last night."
"Oh?" Doctor Gram looked up from his writing.
I nodded. "It wasn't anything from the fight."
"Doesn't matter. Anything from that night is important." He motioned for me to go on.
"Well it was the first night I had gone out in a while. My dad was out of town so he couldn't check up on me..."
"He did that?" Doctor Gram hummed in thought. "Even while you were away at school?"
"He's a bit of a control freak," I spoke quietly.
He nodded his head in understanding. "Please continue."
"My friend Mitchell wanted to really celebrate my weekend of freedom so he kept buying me drinks."
"So do you blame the fight on your friend, since he's the one who got you so drunk?" Doctor Gram asked next.
"No." I shook my head, even though in that moment I wished I could just blame him. His harsh words from earlier in the day ran through my mind.
"I should have known my limit. I do know my limit, but-" I paused. "I didn't want to stop."
Doctor Gram jotted a few things on his notepad before he spoke again. "You didn't want to stop drinking or you didn't want to stop hurting that boy?"
I didn't exactly know how to answer his question. I hadn't wanted to stop drinking, I knew that, but maybe that was also the case with the fight as well. Adrenaline is just as much of a drug as any substance and it had been pumping through my veins that night.
"I don't know." I shrugged.
"Have you talked to any of your friends from school since the incident?" He changed the subject, knowing full well he wouldn't get anything else out of me.

My face turned soar. "What friends?"
"I was told you were quite popular at school."
I chuckled. "Yeah, well after you beat someone up for no reason people tend to stay away from you."
"You mentioned your friend, Mitchell, what about him?"
My nose scrunched in frustration and a grimace appeared on my face. "Just today I saw him actually."
"And how was that?" He smiled momentarily, but it was gone the second I spoke.
"Oh it was great. He told practically everyone in a starbucks that I was insane." The fake happiness in my voice made him shake his head disapprovingly.
"I'm sorry to hear that."
I crossed my arms over my chest and turned my head to look out the window. I wasn't much in the mood to talk anymore.
