"Go, Thea! It'll be fun!" Xavier called, gently pushing me toward the door Damien was waiting by. He let out a deep chuckle, swinging the door open for me. "Don't worry birthday girl," He mumbled as I walked by. I looked up at him with a frown before he walked out behind me, closing the door.

"What are we doing?" I mumbled quietly, trying to strike a conversation as we walked to his car. He gave me a thin smile before opening my door. I wanted to laugh and make fun of him for being a gentleman but I didn't.

Oh who am I kidding

"Wow, someone's being polite. How much did they pay you?" I giggled, getting into the car. He chuckled, shutting my door before getting in the driver's seat.

"They didn't pay me but I was promised that I got to decorate the cake," he joked making me laugh at him. Damien's crooked smile sprawled across his face as I laughed. He started driving, leaving me with millions of questions.

"Where are we going?" I questioned for the tenth time. He gave me an annoyed glare before finally answering. "My house okay? Jeez, you're like a child," He grunted making me pout. I was just nervous and he never takes me to his house.

Oh, the terror.

He parked outside a house that was somewhat familiar. I got out of the car, still amazed at how beautiful it was. There were more cars here since the last time I had been.

Damien placed a hand on my back, gently leading me to the door. He wasn't being mean, just nervous which was weird for him.

Why kind of present could he possibly get me? He hated me. Unless it was a hated gift that was going to blow up in my f-

"I have had the door open for five minutes Little Flower? Are you going to walk in?" Damien called, snapping me back to reality. I felt heat rise to my cheeks as I quickly mumbled out a sorry.

As soon as I stepped in I was engulfed with the smell of cookies and vanilla. It wasn't what I smelt the first time I arrived.

Damien placed his hand on my lower back making me jump at the warmth. He guided me into the house with a nervous smile. I wanted to laugh at him, he seemed so stressed over a birthday, It was just my birthday.

"Damien is that you! I am honestly so-" A short haired blonde women called, her heels stopping as she saw my face. The women's green eyes watched me in almost excitement making me freeze up in fear. Her sight was enough for Damien to tighten his grip on my hip a bit making me glance at him slowly.

Maybe if I don't move she won't notice m-

"Oh is this Thea? Oh, Oh, Oh, I've heard tons about you." She giggled walking closer, giving a small wink to Damien. She reminded me of my mom, but more wealthy. She had on a black dress with a gold belt and black heels. She was beautiful but I wasn't focused on her. I was focused on the little girl grabbing the rim of her dress.

"It's nice to meet you, Mrs. Carter," I said quietly, her hand grabbing mine to shake. I could feel the sweat I haven't felt for a long time come back. Her pale hand pulled away to clap in happiness. "This little mess and I attempted to bake you happy birthday cookies." Her laugh was soft as she looked down at the tiny blonde haired girl.

"That's Sadie," Damien mumbled getting a giggle from the little girl. I smiled, grabbing her outreached hands to pick her up.

"That's so sweet, thank you." I was very polite but something between her and Damien was off like this act was for show or something.

"I put tiny hearts on it," Sadie squealed making me giggle along with her.

"Really? Well, I love hearts," I cooed to her. She had to be not older than six, at the most. Sadie turned on my hip to look at Damien, "I like her."

Damien chuckled, nodding his head.

"Yeah I bet you do kid," He bent down to kiss her head before grabbing my back again, walking me into the house.

I entered the kitchen, his mother leading me to the adorable cookies. I let out a gentle laugh, looking at Sadie in my arms before back down at the pink cookies. They were adorable and she even attempted to write happy birthday on them (she did spell birthday, berthday which made them a thousand times more precious).

"They are perfect!" I watched the girl giggle, my eyes going back to his mom who showed a big smile. Damien grabbed on, holding out to me but my hands were full. I opened my mouth to talk but a cookie was shoved into my mouth making me gasp.

Damien let out a loud laugh, surprising his family's. A small gasp fell out of his mom's mouth as he pulled back the rest of the cookie, finally letting me chew it.

It was delicious, it was so soft and warm. I had the taste of peanut butter and chocolate. I set Sadie down so I could grab the rest of the cookie from Damien.

"That good huh?" Damien chuckled, making me giggle, grabbing the cookie from him so I could shove it into his mouth.

He bit down on the cookie, his mother letting out a loud happy sigh. "You two are adorable," she said quietly, immediately getting glared down by Damien. I let out a small laugh before eating the little bit of the cookie that was left.

"Alright mom, well we are going to go to the backyard?" Damien said quietly, getting his mother to perk up happily.

Gosh did she know about it too?

Everyone knows about my birthday but me.

What is this world coming too?

I gave his mother a sweet nod before Damien grabbed my hand, leading me to the back door.

The backyard was beautiful. His mother sure did love planting. The backyard had a pergola with beautiful lights stinging from it to the trees in the yard. There were flowers everywhere, even though it was starting to get dark I could see the bright pink flowers around us.

"I don't know if my gift is great," He started quietly, bringing my attention back to him as I walked closer to the trees.

"I didn't expect these many gifts," I said amazed, looking up to the sky. I felt his breath behind me causing me to turn my eyes to him.

His eyes didn't leave mine for a moment, giving me a chance to stare at the greenness of them.

I hate to say it, but I think green was my favorite color now...

"Happy Birthday, Little Flower." He said quietly, his hand pulling out a small yellow box. I bit my lip, gently taking the top off of it. I was nervous about this one, he has never actually shown me he cared about me.

But what was in the box said otherwise. Maybe he was like a gentle monster.

"Damien you didn't have to get this," I was in awe over the necklace, slowing pulling it out to see a small flower on a silver chain. It was a beautiful silver daisy with a stem and leaves.

It was literally a little flower.

I was Little Flower and this was a little flower for me.

I wanted to cry at this point. I had so many amazing friends, who knew me strangely well.

"I can't take all the credit. My mom helped me pick it out," He said embarrassedly, a smile on his adorable happy face.

"Thank you, I love it." My voice came out quieter as I held it in my hands, Mesmerized.

"Here," Damien was actually gentle this time. He took the necklace from my hand, moving behind me so he could put it on me. I moved my hair to the side as he hung the necklace in front of my face.

It was weird feeling his hands on my neck. He felt so warm like he had just stuck his hands into a fire. The way they made my body warm was something I've never felt before.

The necklace hung perfectly on my chest when he let go, giving me the chance to turn to his with a smile. Something was different this time when I looked at him. He wasn't the cocky prick I had met almost a month ago. I couldn't put my finger on it, but when I looked at him I felt happier.

Not to mention his face was practically inches away from mine. He didn't say anything but he looked like he was overthinking. I don't know how it happened but he had somehow managed to get closer to me.

I didn't know what to say but I leaned in, letting out foreheads press against each other.

Is this it?

Am I going to get my first kiss right now?

I didn't even get to make sure they were soft!

His hand fell onto my waist making me let out a sharp breath. He leaned in closer his lips almost touching mine before he stopped. I saw a switch flip in him, his jaw locking shut and hardening. He pulled quickly away from my face, leaving me stunned.

Damien stepped back, looking to the ground for a moment. "We should get going," He mumbled, making me bite my lip.

I didn't wait for him to lead me, making my way out of the yard and back into the house. I thanked his family on the way out, giving his mother a small hug.

"Thea, can you wait a minute?" I heard Damien hiss at me when he shut the front door to leave. I turned to him when I got to his car, "What?"

My voice was surprisingly gentle, only because I felt extremely embarrassed right now. Why would someone like him ever like someone like me? I was a Disney loving, sarcastically annoying nerdy girl. He was completely opposite from me. He liked action movies and I enjoyed romance, he liked cigarettes and I liked Twizzlers (even though I pretended like they were cigarettes to piss him off), but still.

He was completely different than me but I thought we connected on some level, whether it was friendship or more.

But I guess I was wrong.

"Let's just forget about it okay?" Damien said softly making me look away in annoyance.

"Don't worry, it's already forgotten," I mumbled, getting into the passenger's seat. I wasn't mad, just confused.

The ride to my house was pin drop silent. I didn't want us to be like this. It was awkward and it was my birthday.

"So," I drawled out, getting his attention. Damien glanced my way, his green eyed slightly annoyed with me. "Are you going to tell me what my big gift is?" I asked sweetly getting a deep chuckle from him. My eyelashes batted at him when he looked at me, shaking his head.

"You wish," I pouted at him, easing the tension. I really did want to know what everyone was working so hard on planning. It's crazy, to think people love you enough to make sure your birthday is perfect. It might be a little too perfect but I loved it.

"Why are their balloons outside?" I questioned when we pulled up to my house. I didn't mean like two balloons, there were almost a hundred balloons tied to anything and everything outside. It wasn't there when we left.

I couldn't help but jump out of the car in excitement, letting out a small laugh. Everyone was waiting outside for me in amusement.

"Look in the box, Thea!" Emily yelled pointing to a box that was hidden in the midst of the balloons. I raised an eyebrow before slowly walking over to it, it was pretty big too.

My hands eagerly opened the lid and I was yet again, confused.

Super duper confused.

"I don't get it," I mumbled pulling out a sea shell that had a bit of sand.

"Pour the sand out Thea, use your smarts," Alex called making me laugh before turning the box over so the sand fell out. A small pamphlet fell out and I smiled, reading the first words quickly.

"We're going to the Bahamas? When?"

My mom gave me a mischievous smile before looking at everyone,

"Tomorrow."
