《With You |COMPLETED》Chapter Four | how to be mortified

"I can't believe you just spent the night at Damien Carter's house and you aren't even fazed." Ashley gasped, her hand going to her heart in disbelief.
Here we go again.
"He wants to take me home too." I added in. This has been the sixth time she's said this to me and what's even worse is that it's only lunch.
She let out another loud gasp while Emily clapped, "you guys are such a cute coup-"
"We aren't a couple Em." I gave her a thin smile but I was getting annoyed. I realized how awful I slept last night when I fully woke up, my back was killing me.
I wanted to stay as far away from Damien as possible. It's not because he was a bad person, it was because I have heard nothing but negative comments toward me the entire day. They were wearing me out and I honestly felt meek at this point.
"That's Damien shirt isn't it? They so did it."
"I heard they were a couple, weird right?"
"I'm way prettier then her. Why doesn't he date me?"
"She looks a wreck."
Were just some of the examples of the comments I've faced today. Everyone was nice yesterday before my life decide to take a detour into train wreck city.
I was glared at by almost every girl possible who was madly in love with the bad boy. They could have him, I didn't care at this point. My irritability level was wearing thin and it was starting to show.
When we got to the table Ashley ran off to buy food while Emily pulled out sandwiches from her house, giving one to me. Ash came back with a boy instead of food, her smile plastered from ear to ear, "So guys this is Alex and I was wondering if him and his friends could sit with us today?" She chirped to Emily and I.
My mouth was dropped open as I looked at Emily with the most excited face ever. "Of course you can!" Emily almost squealed out. She took her finger and gently shut my mouth, "sweetheart you'll catch flies if you leave your mouth open." She joked making me playfully slap her on the arm.
I turned to the blonde hair boy, he had amazingly bright blue eyes and he was fit. I wanted to high five Ashley on her choice but I didn't.
"So who are your friends?" I questioned, but before he could answer two chairs scrapped across the floor almost silencing the cafeteria. "So were all friends now? Sweet." My eyes turned to Xavier in almost horror as he sat beside Emily, who was literally hyperventilating as we speak.
This was not happening.
Please tell me I'm dreaming.
I quickly pinched myself, letting out a small yelp in pain before I slowly turned to the right of me.
Not a dream.
"Wow I don't even get a hello?" Damien exclaimed, making me hold my head in my hands that were resting on the table.
"This is just great." I called out, dragging on the last word for a while. I heard Damien chuckle, leaning his body against the table. Ashley was just as shocked as I was, her eyes dangerously going to Alex, who just wore the biggest grin ever.

Emily was practically drooling over Xavier while I slowly pushed her chin with my finger, closing her mouth, "sweetheart you'll catch flies." I mimicked, getting a jab to the side from Emily.
"Oh god, look." Alex groaned out, his finger pointing past Xavier's Raven black hair and down into the hallway.
I followed his finger as it landed on a girl, who was absolutely beautiful. Her clothes were extremely short and tight. I wasn't judging, but if she bent over everything would fall out. Her black hair was filled with blonde highlights that cascaded down her back in a manner that made me jealous.
Emily grabbed my arm, "that's Kyla," She said softly. The girl made her way to the jocks table, her body immediately being swarmed by the boys. None of the boys were Tyler which was a relief.
Her eyes slowly landed on our table as she sat down and man, were my friends right. Her glare hardened when she met my eyes. It was one of those glares that could put you six feet under and that was probably the worst part about her.
I looked away slowly, filling my face with my sandwich. Conversations were flying across the table but I stayed quiet, not in the mood to argue or talk. Damien never smiled or laughed once, he just spoke and everyone listened. Of course I was staring at him with a huge glare as I stuffed my face.
"What is wrong with you?" Ashley whispered, snapping me out of my trance. Damien gave me a odd look too, making me look away as quickly as possible.
"Does no one understand what has happened today?" I hissed out. I must have been harsh because my friends jumped at my voice.
"I mean we aren't gonna ignore that a girl literally called me a wreck in first hour to her friend while we were making eye contact!" Ashley frowned while Emily rubbed my back. It was true, they all noticed. Even Emily flicked a pencil at a girl because she was staring at me.
"At least Kyla hasn't killed you yet." Xavier coughed out, making me almost choke on my own spit.
Oh gosh, I haven't even thought of that spiral of death yet.
"I need ice." I cried out, my nerves getting the better of me. Emily immediately reached into her backpack, pulling out a water bottle that was frozen.
She said she would keep one for emergencies, which was amazing of her.
"What-what is happening?" Damien looked almost shocked as he watched me chew on an ice cube. Xavier and Alex were chuckling but kept quiet once I sent death glares there way.
"You sweat when you're nervous don't you?" Alex laughed, his tan hands going to his mouth to cover it.
Oh the déjà vu!
I could see a small smile falling onto Damien's face, but was quickly covered with a smirk. I gave him the biggest glare possible and he only seemed to chuckle.
Great
Just flipping fantastic.
"Can I help you, little flower?" He cooed, trying to cup my chin but I quickly smacked his hand away. He was joking but he looked so serious about it.

Why can't his facial features match his words.
I let it go, not even wanting to argue with him. "Can you possibly leave me alone?" I said politely, watching him shake his head.
"Don't worry, I'm here for Alex not you." He was quiet but it was still harsh.
Ouch.
I was shocked by his words but I gave him the biggest eye roll I could muster up. My body pushing out of my chair as I grabbed my backpack. "I'm surprised you have friends. They are probably just as scared of you as everyone else." I mumbled out, watching him clench his jaw in anger. Emily and Ashley wore the biggest frowns toward me but I didn't care anymore.
I made my way out of the cafeteria, going anywhere but here. I have never skipped school before, so this was terrifying. My mom would understand, she use to have to call me out when the bullying got bad.
I didn't have my car so I decided to just wait in the front of the school till fifth hour and go home with Ashley or Emily. I made my way to a bench that overlooked the road in front. The school wasn't ugly and neither was anything around it, It was just a long road with houses and trees everywhere. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, trying to calm down.
I am just use to being alone, it seems to work better for me that way. I was never great with people.
"You know, sitting by yourself out here isn't the best idea, little flower." I herd a deep voice call behind me. My head quickly whipped around to see a cocky looking Damien.
Oh that cocky son of a bit-
"Oh well." I quietly muttered, my eyes rolling as I turned back to the direction of the houses. I felt the metal bench bend a bit as he sat down.
"You don't look like the type to ditch." He said quietly to me, entangling his hands together.
Ditching was such a strong word, I'd prefer the term emotional leave.
"And you don't seem like the type to have friends, but I was wrong." I shot back, my eyes watching the trees gently sway in the wind. He let out a chuckle before shaking his head. "Your friends feel bad." He was watching me with a small smile on his face.
They were the only friends I've ever had and I'm pushing them away.
Was I really that much of a psycho today.
Yes...
I nodded my head, watching him from the corner of my eye. "They are just words Thea." He mumbled, not really knowing what else to say. I sucked in a deep breath after he spoke. He was probably right, but they have a huge impact on my life. I know they shouldn't, but I went through four years of hell because of words.
"My mom use to tell me if people were talking about you it meant they were jealous," I started, a sad smile on my face as I looked at the sky. "And I believed her. Every time I had to go to school, people talked and I just assumed they were jealous. Then, I got shoved into a wall by a football player, who eventually did it to the point where I had a concussion from hitting my head on the lockers."
He looked at me with a frown but I shook my head, "jealousy wasn't the problem they had with me. It was the fact I didn't have money flying out of my pockets."
"It was a private school?" He questioned, but he knew the answer. I nodded my head, bitting my lip in embarrassment.
Oh yeah, Holland Academy. Home of the rich and spoiled.
Now, my mom is doing well off but she keeps it in her savings. One of her dreams is for me to go to a good college.
"That's not going to happen here Thea." He stated, his eyes watching me as I picked at my thumb. I looked at him, my grey eyes finally meeting his green ones.
"You don't know that."
"Yes I do." He argued, making me sigh and stop talking. We stayed like that for a while until I decided to change the subject off me. I didn't mean to open up to him, but he didn't understand.
"Can I ask you something?" I turned to him for a moment, watching him nod his head. "What made you like this?" I gestured to him, only getting a laugh as a response.
"Well I workout ab-"
"You know that's not what I meant. I mean you, your personality." I laughed cutting him off, watching his small smile turn into a frown. Damien let out a huff of air before looking around, "maybe one day I'll explain it, but that day isn't today T." He was more serious now, his eyes watching me as he stopped talking.
"I've never skipped school before." I changed the subject, not wanting to upset him any further.
"I've never left Alex alone with a girl before." He mumbled, his eyes widening. I couldn't help but laugh at the stupidity of the entire situation. I was upset over absolutely nothing, so what if people hated me. I was bound to be hated by someone no matter what.
"How about we finish the last part of school, then maybe see if everyone wants to go do something." I chirped up, watching him raise a eyebrow.
"Really? You're not worried about being seen with me?" He had a small smirk on his face. I shook my head, starting to walk back toward school. Damien followed me, waiting for a answer.
"I mean, your mood swings might kill me before any girls do." I breathed out, hearing him let out a laugh.
"Yeah maybe."
