《Falling in love with the Muslim girl ✔》Chapter 42: "I'm sorry for your loss"

I arrived home and immediately went to my room. Mom was still at work and the others were probably with friends.
I was thinking about Brody and what the doctor told me until I heard my phone go off. Apparently I still have friends..
It was Britt, I didn't want to lie to her so I declined the call. She will probably be asking questions about Brody's behaviour and I'm not the best at lying.
After I declined the call, my phone went off again. But this time it was a message from Britt, saying:
"Stop ignoring me, I'm outside your house, open the door Safia."
Before I went to open the door, I looked out of the window to check if Britt was indeed outside. Britt was waiting in front of the house leaning against a wall, waiting until I opened the door. I looked around hoping that she was alone, even though I want to help Brody, he still said some childish things.
She was alone so I decided to open the door, I just need to keep Brody's act up I guess..
"Finally?! I was waiting for almost 5 minutes!" Britt said as I opened the door.
Let's just say that she's impatient, really impatient..
She walked in and dropped her stuff on the kitchen table.
"Now..", she said crossing her arms, "we need to talk."
I wonder what she has to say..
We sat down and she started.
"Okay Safia, euhm where do I start?"
"Just spill it Britt." I responded. It came out harsher than I meant, but I was slightly annoyed because she took her time. I'm a patient girl, but as soon as someone says they 'need to talk', I begin to panic.
"I know about Brody." She said which suprised me because she said it as fast as possible. Like she was afraid I would interrupt her.

"And so does mom", she added.
Wait a sec..
"He will get the treatment, but he needs your support."
What was he thinking?
"My support?" I responded annoyed.
"Britt I'm glad you and your mother know and I'm relieved that Brody is getting the treatment, but tell him that he doesn't need to send his little sister for help because he's not brave enough to ask himself." I stood up and opened the front door. "Can you leave? I have stuff to do."
"Safia please do.." Britt said before I interrupted her. "Go Britt, tell Brody to man up and to apologize to me in person." I said looking straight into her eyes.
She nodded and left.
I closed the door and leaned against it before going to my room.
What was he thinking? I mean, I still hate him for what he said but I don't want him dead. I'm glad he's getting the treatment, that means that my job here is done.
I want him to come by and apologize and ask for my 'support' in person, that doesn't mean I will give him that. Now that his family knows, he doesn't need me anymore.
"Bro, you fucked up big time." Britt said when she arrived home.
She was only gone for 30 minutes.
"Safia hates you so bad, that she even kicked me out of her house."
"That doesn't sound like Safia." my mother said as she was suprised about Safia's behaviour.
I wasn't to be honest.
What I said wasn't nothing, and it means that I probably lost her forever.
"Well, she said that you need to man up and talk to her in person." Britt said.
"Not today, we're going to the hospital to start the therapy before it's too late." Mom said.
"Mom I really need to talk to Safia." was scared that if I waited much longer, it would be too late.

"Yes and you can do that tomorrow, she will understand." she was right.. if I want to get rid of the cancer, I had to start the therapy as soon as possible.
..
"What did you say to her?" My mom asked when we were on our way to the hospital. She had already called the doctor who said that I could start my treatment today.
I couldn't tell her about the kiss, even though Britt already knew.
"I just blackmailed her." I said.
"It's weird that you 'just' blackmailed her and she's this mad huh?" She responded.
"Anyway, I don't even want to know with what you blackmailed her cause you're clearly not telling me everything these days." Her voice cracked and I saw that a tear was sliding down.
I grabbed her right shoulder with my hand and stroked her back.
"We'll get through this mom, I promise." it was at that moment I realised what I was planning on doing before. I was going to put my mother through hell again.
I need to fight this, not for my friends nor Safia.. but for my own mother who loves me more than anything.
I slept for a few hours and studied after that until I heard my mom's car pull over on the driveway.
She was later than usual and Amin and Yassine were both not home yet. Where is everybody?
I was on my way down when I also remembered to ask mom about that weird guy at the hospital. Maybe she knows who he is.
"Hey habibti, how was your day?" She asked when she saw me.
"It was okay." if she only knew, "but where is everybody?" I asked.
"Yassine is staying over at a friends' house and I haven't heard from Amin since I saw him this morning. He told me that he was hanging out with a friend the whole day." She responded. "I'll call him later, c'mon let's eat".
We sat down, ate and watched some tv afterwards. It was nice to be with my mother alone for once. Normally Amin would annoy the hell out of me and I won't get the chance to sit down and relax.
A few hours later our 'relax session' was interrupted by the doorbell. It was probably Amin who forgot his keys again.
My mom wrapped her scarf quickly around her head and opened the door. I didn't bother because I was sure it was Amin.
I didn't hear Amin walk in, he always made a scene so I knew that it wasn't him at the door. I also wrapped my scarf around my head and joined my mother.
I saw that she raised her hand and placed it on her mouth and was shocked about what the guest has said.
At that point I didn't look at who was standing in front of us, I was focused on my mom.
Until I finally faced the guests and listened to what they were saying.
My legs began to shake until I had no control over my body anymore.
I fell on my knees and my heart just shattered into a million pieces.
"I'm sorry for your loss." they said.

Drinker of the Yew: A Necromancer's Tale
Updates Once a Week next update 10/5 Wracked with misfortune, a nameless village along the edge of the Gray Spine rejoiced at the arrival of a paladin. Those celebrations, though, turned to wary tension as the paladin brought an unknown into their midst - his wife Nayinis, who wears the markings of a necromancer. Who is this woman? Why has she come to their village? Nayinis divulges her shadowed past, for she needs the village's trust to defeat the powerful foe that she has been summoned by the divine to face. What to expect: This is a slow-paced, dark, epic-fantasy book written mostly in an archaic first-person style, remniscent of fariy-tale at times. I am expecting the final product to be close to 600-700 pages. The first few chapters introduce a somewhat-steep learning curve of names and mythology of the world that plateaus at aroud chapter 5.
