《ʟᴏᴠᴇ ᴡᴀᴠᴇs》Side effects

Chika was holding a small white bottle with a blue cap between her fingers. The label on it read 'Chlorpromazine' in big black letters. Her mom had woken her up from her sleep to take her medicine, she used a gentle voice mixed with sadness. Chika knew this wasn't gonna be easy for her or her family. She hadn't even started the treatment and everyone was already stressed out about it quite a bit.
She stood up from where she was sitting and walked over to her desk, where there was a glass of water waiting for her. She took one orange pill and shoved it down her throat, drinking the water to push it down. Not only were the drugs prescribed for her quite expensive, like most medicines, but they were supposed to have pretty heavy side effects. If she was lucky, they wouldn't present themselves strongly. But luck wasn't always on her side.
Chika walked downstairs, her previous conversation with Kanan resonating in her head.
"You know, even if you ignore her forever, which I tell you, you won't be able to do for long, avoiding her will definitely not be possible. She's my friend, so if you hang out with me, she might show up sometime. Just to name one of the scenarios that could happen."
"Maybe you're right. I won't be able to avoid her forever, but that doesn't mean I can't ignore her."
And that was just what she was gonna do. She would go to the caffè, chat with Kanan if she felt like it, and completely ignore You's existence. She wanted to show up there with a sanctimonious aura and feel the satisfaction of ignoring You as she tried to desperately catch her attention. She even chuckled at the thought of it.
Chika look at the sky through a window. It was grey with sad clouds all over it. She knew the rain would probably start pouring soon, but she didn't mind a little bit of rain. She grabbed an umbrella and headed out, humming 'Wonderful Rush' while she pictured the whole choreography in her head.
Before she knew it, she was standing in front of the shop, opening the door and causing a small bell to ring as she did so. A girl that would sometimes serve Chika when she first started going to the caffè greeted her with a smile and a wave. Chika walked up to the counter.

"Hey! It's been a while, huh? Anyway, what can I serve you today?"
"I just want chocolate milk, cup size small, and a blueberry muffin."
The girl nodded and started to head off to get her order ready. Chika turned around to go take a sit, but she realized You wasn't anywhere in sight, so she turned around to face the girl once again and asked.
"Ah, the gal with the blue eyes, right? Didn't you two have a fight or something here a few days ago?"
"A-ah, well, kind of.." Chika felt her face grow a little red from embarrassment. She didn't expect anyone but Kanan or You to bring that up. It had been stupid of her to do that in public, but she wasn't thinking, she just acted. "Anyway, where is she?"
"She's helping out in the kitchen right now, you want me to call her over?"
Chika was slightly disappointed to think that she couldn't have the pleasure of ignoring You that day, but not seeing her at all was easier, right? So after a moment of hesitation, she answered, "No, it's fine. Just curious, that's all."
The girl shrugged it off and walked away to get Chika's order ready before grabbing the money Chika handed her and stuffing it into the cash register.
A few minutes went by before Chika got her order and walked out of the caffè again. She had decided to come back tomorrow, hoping to get a chance to fulfill her wish of ticking off her friend, or whatever it was that they were. She passed the bag with her muffin from one hand to the other and raised her empty hand to the ground. Cold drops of water fell on her hand. The sky had turned darker and the wind was howling, the leaves and sticks from the trees were shaking.
And she noticed she herself was shaking too. She had read it was one of the side effects from the medicine she took before leaving. At least it wasn't one of the bad side effects, she thought. Maybe a little too soon. Not even a few seconds passed before Chika adverted the fact that her hands were twitching slightly. She needed to get home quickly.

Chika did not know if there could be several side effects at once or if they could all just suddenly hit her. All she knew was that she needed to get home quickly before this escalated any further.
"Chika! Chika!" She heard a familiar voice behind her, calling out her name. It was You. She looked relieved to see Chika again, even though she was getting completely wet under the rain, her clothes sticking to her skin.
Chika's heart skipped a beat. She didn't plan it this way. She was sure she would have absolutely no reaction whatsoever to seeing You again, but she was wrong. She didn't know what to do or say. She wanted to run away as fast as she could, but her legs wouldn't bulge. And she felt nauseous.
And before she could process what was going on, everything went black.
Just as it had happened last time she blacked out, Chika found herself in an unknown place. Except this time she was tucked in a bed with blue bedsheets and girl resting her head on that same bed. A silver haired girl.
She sat up confused and looked around, then looked down at the girl who fell asleep with her head on the bead as she sat on a chair. She held her hands up to her face and covered it, trying to remember how she had gotten to this place.
A husky, tired voice interrupted her thoughts. "I see you've woken up, sleeping beauty."
"Where am I? How did I get here?"
"Wow, and this is the thanks I get for saving you!"
"You.. saved me?"
"Well, kind of. I saw you and got out of the caffè to talk to you, but you blacked out. I freaked out and didn't know what to do so I just called Kanan. She drove here and we headed to her house, I insisted in taking you back to your house, but she said it would worry your family too much and that this was probably a side effect from whatever they're giving you."
"Ah.. well.. thanks, I guess." And as it turns out, Kanan was right, she could not keep ignoring You. She hated when her friend was right. She would always go 'I told you so!'
Silence invaded the room for a moment before Chika decided to say something. "I was planning to keep ignoring you, but I can't," You looked up, her blue eyes glimmering with happiness. "And I can't hate you. I don't hate you. But I wish I could. Believe me when I say I wanted to hate you. But I just can't bring myself to do it. I'm.. disappointed and hurt, because I thought that you would keep my secret, but although I try I can't help but wanting to be your friend and being able to trust you. You're so annoying, but I still want to be with you. Whatever the reason for that is, I'm trying to accept it. So don't mess it up."
In response to Chika's words, You simply jumped onto her and hugged her tightly, nuzzling her head into the other girl's neck. Chika desperately tried to push You off her, but failed miserably. Kanan walked into the room and grinned at the sight of her two friends.
"You're awake I see." She sat on the chair You was using before and crossed her legs, giving Chika her 'I told you so!' look. And Chika looked back with her 'shut up' glare.
"Your muffin is in the kitchen if you want it. Do you want anything to drink? Coffee maybe?" The girl with the blue ocean eyes asked.
"I hate coffee. It's too bitter", Chika said, scrunching her nose.
You shook her head "You are an odd one. I'll get you some water."
When You left, Kanan handed Chika her phone and suggested that she called her mother. And so she did. She told her she'd be staying over at Kanan's place for the night, and although her mom wasn't really okay with leaving her out of her sight for too long nowadays, she agreed.
Now Chika was stuck in a house with You and Kanan. It was gonna be a long night.
