《ʟᴏᴠᴇ ᴡᴀᴠᴇs》Lunch at the diner

Chika and You stepped into a small, but nice, retro diner. It even had a jukebox, which was playing Footloose. You looked around the dinner until she saw a familiar face waving at them, signaling for them to sit down. Chika still hadn't talked much, but at least she had stopped looking down at the floor so much, unlike what she had done when they left her house. They made some small talk but not much really happened other than that, You didn't even try to make some stupid You to make Chika laugh. At that moment, all that she could think about was the kiss.
But now wasn't the time to think about that. They were here to have fun, and maybe to get Chika's mind out of whatever was bothering her. They walked towards Kanan and took a sit. Not soon after, a waitress came by and handed them the menu. All of them ordered burgers with fries with a strawberry shake, but unlike them, Chika asked for coke.
"Seriously? A strawberry shake? What kind of monsters are you?"
"For your information," Kanan responded "it was quite common to dip fries into milkshakes."
"Yeah, it was. Emphasis on was. You gotta be some kinda freak to mix fries with something similar to ice cream."
"I'm with Kanan on this one." You butted in.
"I swear to I'm gonna kill you two one day-"
"Yeah yeah, that's great. But what happened to your hand?" Kanan asked as she pointed at Chika's harmed hand, now covered with bandages she and You had gotten on the way to the restaurant.
"Ah, that was.. I accidentally broke a picture frame." Chika said, with a nervous laugh. She technically wasn't lying, she had just omitted certain parts of the truth. She knew that if she talked to Kanan about what happened she would freak out and think she was crazy. Not only that, but if she found that about that kiss You had given her earlier she would've questioned her like crazy. It was one of those things friends did. They wanted to be up to date on everything regarding their friends' love lives, or at least that's what Chika thought. Maybe she'd tell Kanan about the kiss later, but not when You was around.

"Pft, I'm honestly not surprised. You can be quite the clumsy type at times. But seriously, be careful. You can't just go around harming yourself like this!"
"I will, I promise." Chika answered, letting out a sweet smile.
"You! Stop complaining and be patient! I'm sure our food will be here in a minute. Plus, it hasn't even been that long since we ordered it. It's only been about 15 minutes." Chika nagged You.
"But I'm hungryyyy! If I don't get my food soon I'll attack someone like an angry gorilla." She said while tugging at Chika's shirt, afterwards banging her head against the table.
"Why are we even friends.." Chika sighed
"See? This is what I have to put up with every day at work."
"You know you love me. Who wouldn't love me." Chika and Kanan raises their hands as soon as they heard her hungry friend.
"I feel attacked and I now I wanna die." She answered with a pout on her lips, using the most dramatic voice she could. "Oh, food!" Seeing the waitress come over them with their orders on the tray immediately made her face light up.
"How to make You Watanabe happy 101." Kanan said, smiling at her silly friend. "And to make her even happy add a Chika along with the food." She whispered, making sure only You could listen, and it made the silver haired girl choke a little on her milkshake.
"Hey, you okay?" Chika asked, sounding slightly concerned.
"Yeah, I'm good." You answered, blushing a little. She looked at Kanan who was simply smirking and gave her a wink.
Once they had finished lunch, Kanan said she would go over to the library to meet another friend, leaving You and Chika alone.

"So.. walk me home?" Chika asked.
"I thought you'd never ask." You said, pulling her arm out for Chika to hang on to in. For a moment, it seemed like Chika was hesitant to grab her friend's arm, but decided to play along with it. Of course, You was pretty pleased with this result.
They had been talking about random stuff until You decided to finally discuss the kiss with Chika.
"About what happened earlier.. you know, the kiss.." her hands were sweating a little and she felt little butterflies in her stomach. She wasn't the type to fall for someone easily, but it was obvious that she had started to fall for Chika, even if she herself had a hard time admitting it. She didn't wanna get her hopes up, Chika could be straight or just not interested in You as anything more than a friend.
"A-ah! That.. it's fine, don't sweat it, I mean, you only did it to stop me from crying, right?"
And although You answered that it was the only reason why she had kissed her, it was a lie. Of course it was a lie. Everything started out like a normal friendship, but at some point, she started to have odd feelings towards Chika. She was aware of this, she was bisexual. Heck, maybe even pansexual. But she never imagined she would fall for one of her friends. The outcome of this kinda of situations are usually a disaster.
"I'm glad you're okay with it then. I was afraid you might be weirded out or something."
"Hey, if I had been weirded out, I wouldn't have gone to get lunch with you guys. It's okay, just leave it."
"Moving onto another subject tho.." Chika continued, "wanna go out together anytime soon? I realized that even though we're friends, I don't really know that much about you, and you don't know that much about me so.. I don't know, I thought it'd be nice. It's a bit silly, isn't it?" She said embarrassed.
And with this, You jumped onto her and hugged her. She was just too adorable to resist. And even though You knew she was probably throwing herself into the line of fire, she accepted the offer. Who wouldn't wanna get to know their crush better? And who could reject a "date"-(she knew it wasn't date, but she liked to think of it like that)- with someone so grumpy yet lovely?
"Don't get too excited! You're gonna end up asphyxiating me!" The orange haired girl said, trying to get her friend off of her.
"Sorry, just got a little excited." You smiled at Chika, making her heart skip a small bit.
Chika hadn't gotten this feeling since then, and it was kinda scary, but at the same time, she didn't want the feeling to go away. It made her feel alive. And soon enough, she found herself smiling too.

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
