《If I Fall // Fantastic Beasts》One

She sat at the back of the train, alone. Making her way to a local coffee shop down in London to meet with someone, they are to decide on where to travel on their next leg of their trip.
It had been five months since Mercy Langton and Newt Scamander were expelled from Hogwarts. Not once did the two ever look back, the only person at Hogwarts that they kept in touch with was Dumbledore. The elderly man was the only one who understood the two outcasts and perhaps believed that they were innocent.
He sat towards the front of the little shop, by a large window with sun lighting up the dark space. His right hand was wrapped around a mug while he focused on a great big coloured map of the world, he hadn't noticed the girl walked in.
"Hello?" She was nervous, even thought they had been together for five straight months the little break they had in between made her nervous. What if he had time to think about everything that's wrong with her? What if he doesn't want her to come anymore? What if he changed his mind about everything?
"Mercy!" A big goofy smile was plastered on the man's face as he stood up and engulfed the woman in a hug
"I missed you" she mumbled wrapping her arms around the man as well
He let out a little laugh and stepped back from the woman, "we've only been apart for less than a month"
She shrugged her shoulders before taking a seat across from him, he placed his brown suitcase on the table and looked over at woman who had been staring at him.
"I rescued some more Bowtruckles while you were away, I was hoping Pickett would bond with them but he still won't leave my side" Newt chuckled as the little green creature poked it's head out from the navy blue coat.

"Why would you ever want to get rid of such an adorable companion?" She chuckled giving a little wave at Pickett
"Not now, we're in a public place" he whispered tapping the creature back into his coat pocket
"Anyways, since we've taken on Europe already I reckon it's time for America!" The goofy smile made its return to the man's face
"Are you sure? You've already done so much, don't you think you need a longer break?"
Newt looked shocked at the words the woman had spoke, she forget about his constant need to make sure everything he loved was okay and how he never really needed sleep.
"No, no I can't do that, creatures are endangered all over the world and I need to find them before someone else does" he whispered hoping no Muggle could hear him
"I understand, I forgot about your inhuman lack of sleep or any rest in that matter!" Mercy chuckled at the man
"I can't help it" he shrugged
"I know, it's just who you are"
They sat at the uncomfortable table for hours planning out where to go, yet the two still couldn't agree on where to travel after Africa.
"Why don't we just go anywhere fate takes us?" She joked
"What a great idea!"
"What? I was kidding, haha! See, I'm funny like that" the woman panicked, she was so used to always following a schedule that she never actually let herself do anything out of the ordinary.
"We should do that, we can travel by boat perhaps and wherever it goes, we go!"
"Are you sure? Is that safe?"
"Yes, I mean, it should be... you need to start living in the moment!" Newt had been way to excited about their trip, Mercy had never seen the man smile as many time as he had these past hours.

"I did that once, remember? It got me expelled"
"Come on Mercy, please? For me?" his eyes glistened with hope
The woman sighed, something terribly wrong could happen and they could both die, someone could drown on the boat ride or one of Newt's creatures could get loose and harm someone?
Maybe Newt was right, she does think to much and perhaps she does need to live in the moment.
"Ok, fine" she huffed
"Remember, not all who wander are lost" the man smiled at her
She shot him a glare, "where did you learn that one from?"
"Not quite sure, just heard it somewhere" he shrugged with the small little smile he still had on his face.

A Titan's Crusade
Erik Thayne spent most of his life being brutally ridiculed and tormented for his weight and physical appearance, among other things. A social pariah and diagnosed with an eating disorder no one has an explanation or treatment for, Erik spent years trying to overcome his issues with his personal image and escape the ridicule and vicious torment of his peers. After years of dedicated effort, and a fresh start in a town away from his childhood and adolescent tormentors, he had finally begun to truly realize what he'd been striving for all along. Only, fate apparently has other plans because in the blink of an eye, Erik found himself snatched from Earth and taken to another universe, another world, where he is offered the chance to be more than he'd ever imagined. Now, he has to fight to restore the Balance between Chaos and Order on a world of swords and magic, in a universe governed by the System's laws, which resemble those of RPGs from Earth. Erik learned to embrace the things about himself that others taught him to hate, using them to reforge his physical identity into something more removed from his old self-loathing. But can he learn to embrace the darkest parts of his mind just as he did the reviled aspects of his body and become who he needs to be to succeed in the task set before him? It might just prove easier to stalk in the dark as a monster than to walk in the light as a man... *This is my first time publishing anything I've written to a public audience. Due to formatting issues, I forwent traditional stat-screens for something a little less problematic, delineating stat screens by separating them from regular text with horizontal lines in a lighter-grey coloration. Let me know if you like them or not. Criticism is entirely welcome, but please don't hate on my work after only reading 1 chapter. This is a writing project I intend to complete but I have committment problems so we'll see how long this goes on. Also, fair warning, as the description implies, the main protagonist is intended to be someone who has been treated cruelly, developed antisocial tendencies, and ultimately has to question his own humanity--or lack thereof. This story is not intended to be brutally dark but I will definitely be trying to follow a darker theme. It is intended to be violent and some scenes later in the story might be...alarming. There will likely also be some light, non-graphic (think more implied with crude jokes and conversation than actual details, there will be no full-blown sex scenes)relationship scenes planned later and if you're opposed to either a bisexual or gay main character, stay away. I haven't yet decided which way he's going to swing but the odds on him being straight are relatively miniscule, and I've always wanted to write a story about a gay man who basically looks like a lumberjack because who doesn't like giving conventional stereo-types the middle finger? This will NOT be a harem story, and I have no intention to focus on romance over action--it's a consequence of character development where I'm concerned, not the be-all-end-all of the story. The cover-art does not, in any way, belong to me. It was an image titled the Druid King (by duskanmarkovic according to the file name) which I found on Google Images. Until I can get something commissioned, this is the best stand-in image I could find.

BODY&SHADOW
AN ILLUSTRATED NOVEL • UPDATES TUESDAY AND FRIDAY In a time before living memory, the King Dragon of the Void watched the world and realized there was a crack. He realized that humanity was destroying the rock upon which they lived; they leaked life’s code into the churning chaos. At first the change was imperceptible: nanites overtook microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, amoebas. Insects became increasingly inorganic; birds and lizards followed soon after. Even humans were infected by their own advances, cell by cell, till there was not a person left on earth who wasn’t at least part synthetic, the product of a prior generation’s carelessness. The world’s population was ravaged by mechanical viruses with no vaccines; they were mercilessly overtaken by bacteria that knew no death. Soon, most of the planet was empty and only a handful remained who remembered the hedonist realm they came from; only a few were left who remembered what the world looked like when their buildings touched the sky. The King Dragon of the Void watched the rock turn. He watched humans cower as the Old World fell down around them; watched their great monuments crumble into dusty ruins; watched their codes become precious, ancient gem memories forged under the crushing pressure of so many fallen stones. The world has spun many times around the sun since chaos swallowed man whole. It is a simpler time than the one that died out, but the people now are not immune to the folly of the people before. There is old code everywhere: in the water, in the air, in the trees. The heart of man has been replaced by power cores, many of which are hard-coded with preternatural abilities—when they die, an esoteric mountain sect collects their cores and stores them in their hollow mountain home to preserve the sanctity and dignity of human death. They’ve learned to harness artifacts of the old world, gemstones full of codes their nanite infused bodies can parse as spells imbuing their users with great power; they inlay them into their bodies, into their skins, connected to their cores by copper conduit and gold tracers; they dress themselves in tattoos to advertise their prowess; they battle for relics in arenas, fight for them in the open world wherever they are found. The King Dragon of the Void watches the rock turn and wonders: when will this hunger finally make the rock stop spinning? WELCOME TO FANXING CITY … Twenty-five years ago, Fanxing City and the surrounding lands were commanded by the mad King Zao Beiguan. For many years, the King hoarded wealth, artifacts, food; he demanded tribute from a people already taxed to the edges of their existence and expected they be happy with their circumstances. Noncompliance was often punished harshly, bodies displayed proudly on Fanxing’s streets as a warning, from the city gates to the Zao palace’s golden doors. The youths of several prominent clans came together to overthrow the tyrant and made names for themselves as legendary heroes across the land: Tian, Ren, Feng, Gui, Ma, and Zhenxi. Even wanderers from the Luanshi sect descended from Yunji mountain to aid the rebellion. When the dust settled after three years, Tian Yunyong ascended the throne of Fanxing and swore to honour his slain father’s memory, and has maintained Fanxing’s peace with generosity and mercy where fear and cruelty once reigned.
