《Dear Happy // Fantastic Beasts》The End

Alice left at 10pm instead of nine-thirty. Mercy cried, when did she not? It was hard watching her vanish from the living room, she was watching another family member go. Mercy probably would never see her again, she had a life in New York and only a short amount of it left.
Mercy sat down on the couch in the living room, Archie was asleep in Alice's spot. Mercy could hear him snoring, it was quite cute. Mercy smiled as he flipped onto his back, he was dreaming.
Mercy ran upstairs, got dressed and placed her glasses on her face. Looking in the mirror she smiled at her reflection, something she hadn't done in awhile. She was wearing a maroon shirt that cut off above her belly button with a black skirt on that almost touched the end of her shirt. Having any skin showing made her self conscious, she nodded at mirror before making her way downstairs again. The kitchen was filled with light as the sun was peering in from the window above the sink.
Mercy marched over to her favourite cabinet, the cereal cabinet. She grabbed a small red box and grabbed a bowl, she poured her cereal into the bowl as she grabbed the milk. She finished making her breakfast, she sat down at the kitchen table with a smile. Today was the day she was trying to be a different person, or a different version of herself. Mercy was done being the sad, depressed version of herself. The one who over thought everything, today she was going to be the complete opposite of herself. Outgoing.
Was it because the sun was shining so brightly or the great sleep she had that night?
She finished up her cereal and placed it in the sink, she refilled Archie's drink bowl as well. Mercy grabbed her purse and keys, slipping on her sneakers she rushed out of her home. Slowly walking down the street she took in her surroundings. Her neighbour had just recently redone their drive way, it was no longer just rocks but a nice smooth grey tile. A woman down the street walked out of her house and towards her car, she smiled and waved at Mercy. Mercy waved back with a grin, this was the first time this woman waved at her.

Mercy hummed as she moved down the street, she laughed. What she was doing reminded her of some films she watched where the main character was practically beaming as they skipped and hummed down the street. The thought was stupid, yet, Mercy thought she could've had a movie worthy life, like she could've had a happily ever after.
Mercy didn't stop walking until she reached the London Eye. She bought a ticket and waited in line until it was her turn to get into a cart. She sat in one of the four corners, the door remained open and she panicked- why weren't they shutting the door? A young man stepped into the small space and sat across from Mercy, the door shut and she could feel herself moving away from the ground.
Silence filled the cart until they reached the very top, the man looked over at Mercy with a kind smile.
'Hello'
'Hi...' Mercy replied
'How are you?'
Mercy looked out the window, why was this stranger still trying to talk to her? She wasn't going to reply, she didn't want to. Then she remembered what she had told herself before leaving the house, she was going to try to be a better version of herself.
'Good, you?' She smiled
'Pretty good' he chuckled 'I'm Oliver, by the way'
'Mercy'
'What an interesting name'
'Well, my mother was an interesting person'
He smiled staring out the window as Mercy looked over at him. He had blonde hair and looked quite tall, he wore glasses just like she did. He turned his face over to Mercy again, they locked eyes. He had green eyes.
'Sorry you couldn't get a cart to yourself' he said 'I wasn't planning to go on until the worker kinda yelled at me'
'Oh, it's fine'
'Are you sure?'
'Yes. It's only like a five minute ride' Mercy chuckled fiddling with her hair, she was nervous.
Soon she felt the cart go back towards the ground, it stopped and the door flew open. An elderly name grunted as he showed her out, Mercy still said thank you. She rushed across the street, Oliver followed her.

'Hey' he said approaching her again 'would you like to grab a coffee?'
Mercy smiled looking around, her gaze travelled around inside a shop they stood outside of. She noticed a man wearing a navy blue coat with a yellow and black scarf, he turned around and started for the door. It was Newt and he was carrying a single red rose.
'Mercy?'
Mercy turned around to face Oliver, he was still smiling as he stared down at her.
'Um... I'm sorry' she sighed 'I just can't'
Oliver nodded as his smile vanished 'thank you though, for the offer' Mercy added 'you seem very sweet'
He muttered a goodbye as he walked down the street, Mercy turned the opposite way and began walking after Newt. She followed him down many streets, some Mercy herself had never been down. Soon enough Mercy recognized the street to be hers, she knew what he was doing. He was delivering a single red rose to her doorstep, perhaps the last one. She rushed up to him quietly 'Newt?'
He turned around, a worried look was plastered on his face.
'Mercy?'
'What are you doing?' She walked up to him, now they were face to face.
'I was.. Er..'
She smiled at him.
'Since your here' he said handing her the rose 'in front of me'
Mercy chuckled taking the rose 'I missed you' she muttered searching through the rose petals in case a note was imbedded between them. 'I'm sorry for what I said' Newt frowned 'I missed you too, for four years, I missed you'
Mercy looked up at him after not finding any note, she frowned too.
'It's fine, I understood...'
'I just...' he mumbled
'I'm sorry for everything I did, I'm sorry I left, I'm sorry for all the over reacting I did'
He smiled 'you didn't over react'
'I'm sorry for not believing you'
'What?'
'When you told me you loved me...'
He smiled again, Mercy's cheeks flushed with embarrassment.
'I do love you, even more then I did when we first met'
'Why were you worried to talk to me?' She asked suddenly, she needed to know.
Newt paused, took a deep breath and then stared into Mercy's brown eyes.
'I was worried how you would react to this' He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a folded note, he must of not put it in the rose yet. He hesitated but handed her the note, as soon as the paper left his hand he looked down at his shoes.
Mercy looked down at the paper, slowly unraveling it. To be honest, she was kinda curious to see what was written on the page. She smiled as she read the paper, her heart beat speed up and tears formed in her eyes.
She clutched the paper as she dived into Newt, wrapping her arms around him. She sobbed hugged him tighter as she felt his own arms wrap around her. She could hear him sobbing as well. They didn't let go, they stood in the middle of the street embraced in each other's arms, they were making up for four years of lost hugs.
'I'm so sorry' Mercy sobbed into his shoulder
'Me too'
'I'll never leave again, not without you' Mercy added
Silence filled the air, Mercy was filled with happiness and sadness. She couldn't tell which one was over powering the other. Newt let go of her but Mercy still clung on tightly, she didn't want to let go. She heard Newt sniffle then laugh as he embraced her again, she could feel him smile.
'I loved you, Mercy Langton, and I still do'
'What?' Mercy chuckled
'I love you'
Mercy chuckled again, smiling she let go of Newt. He looked down at her puzzled.
'I love you, too'
Newt smiled, he looked down at her and hugged her again. He picked her up and hugged her tighter, she was laughing as he put her down.
'I'm never letting you go again' he whispered as he gently placed his hand on her cheek and pulled her into a kiss.
What a perfect ending to a below average story, Mercy thought.
