Today's the day.

After two weeks of training and refining my bending for my skill level, it's the day of the sports festival.

My class and I were in the waiting room in our gym clothes.

But as Iida alerted us that we were about to get call out to the arena, Shoto gave this sudden declaration of rivalry to Izuku.

What is it with my friends disliking eachother? I thought to myself as the room atmosphere grew tense.

Good grief....

Damnit Katsuki......

I sighed.

Katsuki was called up as the student representetive and I think he's made an enemy of the school.

He walked back and stood next to me, ignoring all the comments the other students were making.

"Why do you feel the need to do that?" I whispered to him.

"It's obvious I'm better than everyone else, they need to be reminded that they're below me." He responded without looking at me.

We did a pledge and afterwards, Ms. Midnight told us that our first event of the festival was an obstacle race.

And that it started now.

This is it. No turning back.

A door opened up and there was a tunnel leading to the course and everybody rushed to it.

Katsuki, who was next to me just a second ago, dissapeared.

I was trying to make my way past everyone but I kept getting squished against others.

I entered the tunnel and remembered a trick Korra taught me.

An air bending trick.

I managed to jump above everyone and successfully created an airscooter. I ride on the side of the tunnel and breezed past people.

I heard "what? No fair!" , "is she flying?!" As I passed.

Before I knew it I was at the end of the tunnel and I launched myself forward.

I seemed to catch up with my peers. Kirishima, Yayorozu, Ayoyama, and of course, Katsuki. They were all flying forward and Shoto seemed to be first.

I glance back and the path was frozen, guess that was his doing.

I landed and kept my pace running. I was a little slow but I tried to use airbending to run faster.

Then these large robots appeared out of nowhere.

Where were these hiding!?

I thought of a way to get passed them when my opportunity was given to me.

Shoto made a bunch of ice to freeze one of the robots.

I grinned and ran up.

I turned the ice into water and used the wave to rush passed.

"THANKS BEST FRIEND!!" I shout as I passed him.

I took the lead.

I surfed on my wave, under and around. I weaved passed the robots, unfortuanly leaving some water as I progressed.

I arrived at the next obstacle, I know most everyone is close.

It was a canyon with a bunch of tightropes.

What a nice time to be light on your feet.

I began running. I was doing well. but when I reached the middle, I was knocked off my balance by a blast of ice.

I lost my footing and fell. I grabbed onto the rope and saw Shoto pass me. He only gave me a glance as he took the lead again.

I flipped back onto the rope and used the ice left by Shoto to try and catch up.

Katsuki flies over the canyon using his explostions.

Okay, so I lost the lead. But I'm still up there.

I can do this.

I cross over and make it to the final obtacle.

What is this?-

I step forward and get knocked back by an explostion.

Mines.

I cough and stand back up. More people caught up so quickly. Shoto and Katsuki were so ahead and people were treading lightly.

I thought for a second and an idea popped up.

Are these mines made of metal?

I lift my arm and tried to lift up mines from the ground, using metalbending.

I lifted a path.

I ran forward and threw the mines behind me, stunning most of the people behind me.

I continued to clear my way and surfed on a wave of earth.

It felt so freeing to bend like this. The wind rushed passed me as I gained speed.

I suddenly seen a green blur pass me.

Izuku.

He was on a sheet of metal flying through the air.

He landed and ran up to Shoto and Katsuki, creating another explosion.

He took the lead.

Incredible!

I came in fourth.

I stood there catching my breath and the others began filing in.

As the qualifiers were in.

Midnight explained the next round.

Poor Izuku.

He got first place but now everyone is gonna be after him.

Most everyone was teaming within their own classes.

Most of my class swarmed Katsuki, trying to convince him to team with him.

Of course he couldn't even remember thier names.

I begin looking around then I hear. "Oi! (Y/n)! " he called out to me.

He didn't say anything else, I guess he was expecting me to just agree and team with him.

"Sorry Katsuki, I'm gonna team somewhere else. Can't beat you if I'm your support can I?" I chuckle and walk to someone.

Why do I like to cause myself trouble?

I tap someone on the shoulder.

It was this guy with purple hair. He kinda reminded me of Mr. Aizawa.

"Hi I'm Y/n Lin. I'm from class 1A. Would it be alright if I joined your team?" I asked.

"Sure I guess." He responds.

We all got into position and I noticed there was a guy from my class. "Hey!" I greeted. But he just stared forward, his eyes glazed over.

"I guess he's really in the zone." I mumbled to myself.

"Hey," The purple haired boy spoke. "What did you say your name was again?" He asks.

"Oh it's-"

Then everything went blank.

When my vision came back, we were in third place.

"I guess I must have zoned out." I laughed.

Guess that's his quirk.

I can't remember the round at all.

The winners were announced and then lunch was called.

"Hey," My classmate taps me on my shoulder, "Did he ask you a question before whatever happened?" He asks.

"Uh, yeah he did. It was strange." I respond. He had nothing else to say so I went to the cafeteria. I was starving.

On my way, Katsuki pulled me aside.

"Why did you refuse to be on my team." He asked sternly, "You think I'm weak? That you had to go team with a damn extra!?" He rose his voice.

My mind was a little foggy from the quirk of the purple-haired guy so I was sensitive to noise a bit. I flinched at the loudness of Katsuki's voice and grabbed my head.

"Hey, it was just a small friendly rivalry thing. Don't read too much into it Katsuki." I respond.

"What did that guy do to you?! Why are you acting like that?" He asks me, he sounded concerned now.

"Oh, it's nothing. I just got hypnotized I think. That's all." I responded. It was the wrong response.

"YOU GOT FUCKING HYPNOTIZED!? How stupid are you?! That's why you don't go for people below you! Dumbass!" He flicked my forehead.

I got my food and looked for Katsuki but I couldn't see him. I spotted Mina and decided to sit and eat with her since I couldn't find Katsuki.

We talked and she went over the round and how hot-headed Katsuki was during the cavalry.

When lunch was over we all went back to the area we were asked to be.

The next and final round was going to be a one on one fight.

We were told to draw lots to see who we will go up against.

Before that happened, two people dropped out of the final round. They were my classmate and the other person on the team with the Hypno guy.

I wasn't gonna opt out though, why would I?

I drew my lot and got.......
