Sometimes, Park Chaeyoung is too innocent for her own good.

At least, that's what the other girls think when it comes to her but that was also why the other girls were overly protective of her. For the most part, they weren't concerned about Park Chaeyoung causing trouble, moreso the opposite—the male species cannot be trusted around a literal angel like our girl chaeyoung!

One thing was the fact that Park Chaeyoung was blindly oblivious to her attractiveness, especially when it came to how men perceived her. It was almost as though her public entity was contrastingly different to her true self—she was taught to be versatile, pink concepts, black concepts, sexy, cute etc you name it. But she never believed her aura would resonate in her person life, the live outside of the stage.

Jennie Kim cannot even count the amount of times she'd receive a confession, only to turn it down because "sorry I have a dating ban" or "sorry, my agency won't let me have male phone numbers in my contact list outside of family" and at first, she thought that it was just an excuse. But one day, Jennie Kim shares to the other girls about her date with Kim Jongin and the younger woman's mouth drops in complete shock.

"Unnie! We have a dating ban!" The young blonde gasps out loud.

It was at that moment, that Jennie Kim and the other girls realised that Park Chaeyoung was too innocent for good, and more importantly, that it was their job to protect her.

One day, the girls were sitting in the living room playing a game of truth or dare.

"Never have I ever, been confessed to!" Park Chaeyoung excitedly comments, knowing that the other girls had told her stories about being confessed too.

Lalisa Manoban rolls her eyes, "... Chaeyoung, sweetie—you have been confessed too. You just never accept it."

Jisoo Kim nods, "... come on, how many guys have asked for your phone number in this month alone."

Park Chaeyoung furrowed her brows defensively, "... that's not a confession, they just want to network. It's a shame that we're not meant to have male contacts in our phone."

Jennie Kim sighs, "... Chaeyoung, you're going to die alone if you refuse to go near a man. How are you going to get a boyfriend if you don't even talk to them? The rules are just a formality, really."

She feels guilty for her words instantly however, the moment she notices the blonde woman blush and bow her head.

"Come on Chae, surely there's an idol or something that you wouldn't mind dating right? How about Chanyeol? All the shippers went crazy over your collaboration," Jisoo Kim muses, "... plus I wouldn't mind dating his fellow group—"

"Unnie!" Park Chaeyoung exclaims, hiding her face with her hands in embarrassment, "... he would never like me like that."

"Ahhh, so you do like him!" Lalisa Manoban cheers excitedly, "... don't worry leave it to us—we'll match make for you don't worry."

"But our agen—"

"Chaeyoung, please... some rules are meant to be broken," Jennie Kim stops her, "... anyway, who's the last guy to ask for your number anyway? Just curious..."

Park Chaeyoung pauses, a small pout pushed against her lips as she considers the question.

"I guess Jungkook-ssi, he asked for it when I went to fill up my plate with food in yesterdays party..." she decides to respond.

"Jeon Jungkook?!" The three exclaim in surprise.

She blinks, wondering why it was a big deal, as she nods, "... I heard we were born in the same year, Lisa too—so I guess that's why he wanted to network..."

Jennie Kim swears she's going to kill her if she continues to act like it wasn't possible for a man to fancy her!

"I actually heard that he rarely talks to girls, though," Jisoo Kim informs him, "... you're a lucky girl, Chaeyoung."

Later that night, as Park Chaeyoung lays on her bed, she can't help but think about him.

Lucky?

She wonders whether it's true, that a man could be interested in her.

-

Their story continues when Jisoo Kim invites her to a friendly dinner with Kim Taehyung, only just as she arrives is she informed that Jeon Jungkook will be accompanying them.

She has a face of sheer horror at the news, before quickly excusing herself and bolting to the toilet.

Park Chaeyoung admits that the words coming from her friends mouths had gotten in her head. At first she blames it on the shots they'd taken, but days passed and she couldn't stop wondering whether it's possible for an idol to have a crush on her.

There she was, standing in front of the mirror fixing her hair and outfit.

Deep breaths, Chaeyoung!

Only when she comes back, she hears Kim Taehyung asking Jisoo Kim out loud whether she knows that he has a crush on... her?

She freezes in that moment, her mouth speaking on their own.

Park Chaeyoung blames herself for being so awkward, especially so because in the end, he takes her home and hears her stomach grumbling.

Can this night get any worse?!

By the time she returns to the dorm, Jisoo Kim is already back and all the girls are waiting for her by the hallway with a smile on her face.

"Where have you been missy?" Jisoo Kim playfully crosses her arms across her chest, "... you should've arrived a long time ago."

"W—we went for rose pasta," she mutters, wondering why she felt like she'd did something wrong.

"I knew it! You owe me 50 000 won!" Lalisa Manoban cheers as she tells Jennie Kim.

Jennie Kim pouts in defeat before turning her attention back at her other friend, "... tell us everything!"

By the end of the night, Jisoo Kim asks her one question that stays on her mind.

"So was that a date?"

Was it?

More so she wonders whether the other girls are overreacting when they tell her that the boys keep teasing him about rose pasta in the latest episode.

"It must be in reference to you," Lalisa Manoban, a smile on her face leans in and whispers.

Could it be?

-

A few months have passed and while for the most part, Jeon Jungkook doesn't consume her thoughts like they once did, there are days where she certainly wonders whether she should've given him her number.

Would they be friends?

Only she doesn't need to imagine much because one day, she gets a text from him.

At first, she thinks it's probably a prank call.

From: Unknown

Is this Chaeyoung?

She doesn't reply, and considers blocking the number when she gets another text.

From: Unknown

This is Jungkook by the way... I got your number from Jimin.

She almost drops her phone, eyes widening.

How could it be?

She responds.

To: Jungkook

Jimin has my number?

Only, she doesn't get a text back but a call. She jumps up from the couch, not realising that the other girls had noticed and gotten suspicious before running to her room to answer the phone.

"Hello?" She asks.

"Oh, it's really you. I recognise your voice," he tells her, "... I want to explain about the number thing, but it's too long to text... is it okay if I call?"

"Well, you're calling anyway regardless right?" She quips, noticing the way her lips curl into a smile in the mirror.

He tells her about how it was a dare.

They talk a little bit about their schedules and she tells him she'd planning on dying her hair red for the comeback coming up. He tells her that maybe they should match. She jokingly, agrees.

Just as the call is about to end, she asks him.

"So why me? Why was texting me your dare?"

"I'll tell you when I see you in person," he replies.

"When will that be?"

"Are you attending the Lotte Family Concert?"

-

To be honest, Park Chaeyoung feels particularly nervous when she learns that Jeon Jungkook has red hair.

Just as he promised.

But she doesn't get to see it for herself, because the groups performance is cut off.

Park Chaeyoung had planned to stay behind, at least to watch his group but as someone who gets emotional, she found herself too agitated to stay. She left with the other girls, while Jennie Kim went straight to her other schedule.

She takes a shower, thinking about how disappointed her fans must've been before snuggling in bed, feeling a little upset as she binges on the Notebook.

In fact, she starts dozing off when her phone starts buzzing.

A notification from him.

From: Jungkook.

I didn't see you.

Feeling under the weather, she doesn't respond, only to get another.

From: Jungkook.

My manager told me what happened to your performance, are you okay?

She hugs her pillow even more, feeling embarrassed that he probably thinks that she's being a big baby. Should she reply?

She really isn't in the mood.

From: Jungkook.

Can I come see you.

From: Jungkook.

It's okay if I can't but... I'm actually already in front of your dorm...

Park Chaeyoung gasps as she rushes out her window, peering through the curtains to see him wearing a black oversized jacket and sweatpants waving at her with a smile.

From: Jungkook.

So... are we going to socially distance our meeting? It's quite cold...

She quickly rushes to the bathroom and puts on a little perfume and lipstain before running out in her pyjamas, coming downstairs to meet him.

"Hi," she huffs, clearly rushed from the last minute notice, "... you shouldn't show up suddenly, what if I wasn't home?"

"I would've waited," he shrugs his shoulders, "... are you okay?"

"Do you want to come inside?"

That night, she cries on his shoulder unexpectedly about how she felt like she let her fans down.

He hugged her and told her it was okay, and that it wasn't their fault and their fans understood.

From the other room, Jisoo Kim and Lalisa Manoban peer through the door to see two red-haired idols, hugging each other in their living room.

"How long do you think it'll be till they get together?" Jisoo Kim asks.

"Jennie said a year, but I'm starting to think six months," Lalisa Manoban says, "... more importantly, do you think they'll finish anytime soon? I left my phone in the living room and want to take pictures to show Jennie."

Jisoo Kim takes her phone from her pocket and takes a photo from a distance before sending it into the girls chat.

Jisoo Kim:

Jennie Kim:

What?!?! @chaeyoung explain yourself!!!!

Jisoo Kim:

You'd think... the matching hair colours are either intentional or fate...

Jisoo Kim:

Sweetie use protection!! I'm not ready to be an auntie!!

Jisoo Kim:

^ that's from Lisa because her phone's in the living room

Jennie Kim:

Tell me when he's gone so I know when I can come back, I'd hate to interrupt the love birds :P

Eventually the two stop hugging and she embarrassingly wipes the rest of her tears with the back of her palms.

"I'm sorry, that was so embarrassing," she pouts, "... you must think I'm a crybaby."

"I don't mind, it's normal to cry. But you know what always helps a bad evening? Ice cream. Can I take you out for gelato?"

Later that night, when she arrives home she's bombarded by the group chat, horrified to realise that the other girls had seen everything.

"Chaeyoung, I'm tell you right now... you better not get pregnan—"
