"Sundae, get down from there!" I shouted. Currently my cat was on a tree, and I was trying to get her down. She meowed at me, and climbed higher onto the tree.
"Oh my lord, just get down! Please, we have to go home!" I shouted.
"What's going on here?" An unfamiliar voice asked. I turned around to be met with a pretty guy with (h/l) (h/c) hair, and (e/c) eyes. He's also pretty short, maybe around 5'6, with (s/c) skin, and is extremely skinny.
"My cat, Sundae, won't get down from the tree. We need to get to Miyagi before the train station closes, and she just randomly climbed up this tree." I explained to him.
"Would you like some help?"
"Yeah, that'd be great, actually."
The unknown male put his sketchbook, and pencil case down, and started to climb up the tree.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Getting your cat. I can climb this tree to get to her," the guy explained.
"I see."
Then, the guy I didn't know continued to climb up the tree until he got to Sundae. He tried to grab her, but kept failing. Then he tried to talk Sundae down from the tree, but she moved more towards the end of the branch.
"Are you OK up there?!" I asked.
"Yeah, I am! I don't think your cat is gonna get down, man!" He shouted from the tree as he climbed the tree to reach the thin branch Sundae was on.
"Watch out, that branch is pretty thin!" I warned him.
"I got this!" He replied.
I watched as he grabbed Sundae, and we both heard a crack sound.
"Uh, I think you should get down from there..." I stated.

"Yeah..." he said as he slowly walked back to the tree, but then another crack sound was heard. Before I knew it, the guy who just got Sundae fell from the two meter tree.
"Oh shit, we're gonna die!" He exclaimed. Me, with my surprisingly still existent volleyball instinct, jumped to give the smaller male, what I could only hope, a softer landing. Also known as I ran to allow him to fall on my back. He's, not so surprisingly, very light, so I had no damage on my back. Sundae got off the unknown male's arms, and walked to the fallen branch.
"Are you OK?" I asked.
"I'm fine, but are you OK?" He asked as he got off my back.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I said as I also got up.
"Well, thanks for saving me..." he chuckled.
"No problem. Thank you for bringing Sundae down safe, and sound," I thanked him.
"That's no problem either."
I walked to Sundae with the stranger, and Sundae was putting her paws on something that looked like a heart. Hold on, isn't this the soulmate symbol? The thing where you meet your soulmate at a tree with the carving of you, and their name on it? I pulled Sundae away, and there was a carving that said "Ennoshita Chikara, and (L/n) (Y/n)." I looked at who I assume to be (Y/n), and he was blushing an awful amount of red.
"So, you're (L/n) (Y/n)?" I asked. (Y/n) nodded, and asked me if I was... me, and I said yes.
"Wait, so, we didn't really help the cat, the cat helped us!" (Y/n) exclaimed.
"Yeah..."

For those unfamiliar with my writing style, Second Chances was my first attempt at writing. I'm not sure how much I learned in the process, except that readers get angry when you mess with characters they like! Warnings - I tend to info dump. I know I do this, I like slice of life novels that take time to unfold. So don't expect action, murder, and battles in every chapter, it isn't going to happen I prefer the first-person narrative. I will do an occasional POV shift, but it will never be done mid-chapter. I hope you enjoy the story, comments, ratings, and favorites are greatly appreciated!
