《Star Wars One Shots》a helping hand ➳ luke skywalker

"Luke, I think you should do it. I mean, your friends are in trouble!" You agreed.
"Alright then. Do you want to help? You don't have to, I was just wondering." He blushed.
"Yes, of course! I'd love to." You smiled.
He returned it, before pulling out a piece of paper. "So, here's the plan..."
~Later~
"Are you ready?" He asked through the comlink.
"Born ready." You adjusted your helmet and started your fighter. "Let's do this."
The plan was simple. Luke would fight Vader, and you would meet him there to help out. You had to wait a while until you had to be there, so you decided to walk around the castle.
All of a sudden, you heard the sound of lightsabers clashing together. You thought that was the signal, so you ran as fast as you could towards the place where the sound came from. As you rounded the corner, you saw Vader swing towards Luke and you knew that he couldn't block the attack. You jumped in front of him, screaming in pain as you felt your hand being cut off. The bridge you were standing on suddenly shifted, and you felt yourself falling. With your free hand, you grabbed a nearby weathervane and wrapped your legs around it, trying to balance.
Luke was shocked. He had no idea why you sacrificed your hand for his, and he suddenly felt the Force coursing through his veins. With newly found strength, he knocked Darth Vader over and slammed a rock onto his helmet, rendering him unconscious.
He turned back to you, and, seeing as you hadn't fallen that far, managed to pull you back onto the bridge. Noticing that his x wing was nearby, he picked you up bridal style and carried you onto it. Luke decided to leave your fighter behind, knowing that you wouldn't have enough time to reach it, and you weren't in a condition for flying.

He places you gently on the floor, making sure to not hurt you. "y/n just relax, I'll get you to the Falcon where Chewie can help you. You're probably in a lot of pain, so try not to move around too much."
You nodded, hissing in pain as the x wing took off and you bumped your wrist.
Luke gave you an apologetic look. "Sorry."
Soon enough, you were on the Falcon and lying in a hospital bed, being fitted for a robotic hand. Luke wasn't allowed to see you, and he had been pacing in the waiting room.
Leia half glared at him. "Luke, please stop pacing. I'm sure she'll be fine."
He nodded, still concerned. "I know, but I can't help it! She's hurt because of me! If we didn't come to Cloud City, we would have completed our training and she wouldn't be lying on a hospital bed!"
He started crying, tucking himself into a ball. "I can't lose her. She's the only thing I have to fight for."
Leia sighed. "No, don't say that. y/n's a tough girl, and-"
"Leia, don't you see?" Luke yelled. "I love her!"
Leia widened her eyes, shocked. "Y-you do?"
He nodded. "I do. And if she dies, it's my fault!"
The medical droid came out of the room. "You may see her now."
Luke rushed past the droid, almost knocking him over. He looked at the bed, seeing you flexing your robotic hand, testing it out. "Hello y/n."
You smiled. "Hi Luke! Do you like my new hand? It looks so real!" You waved it.
He nodded. "Yeah. Um, listen, I have something to tell you. You see, I-"
You cut him off by intertwining your hands together. "I know, I heard. I love you too." You swiftly kissed him on the cheek.

"So, you're not mad at me for getting your hand chopped off?" He looked puzzled.
You smiled again, nodding. "Of course I'm not mad! I sacrificed my hand for yours because I love you."
"But I almost got you killed!" Luke exclaimed. "You nearly died!"
"Everyone makes mistakes, Luke. It's a part of being human. Everyone's going to stuff up every once in a while, but it doesn't matter. I like to focus on the good stuff, not the bad." You hugged him, climbing onto his lap and resting your head on his chest.
He sighed, wrapping his arms around you and resting his head on top of yours. "I love you so much."
You snuggled closer. "I love you too."
