The first snow of the winter season seemed to inspire the Karasuno Boy's Volleyball Club captain to go indoor ice skating. Daichi brought Suga to this nice place almost a year ago for a date, and he wanted to have a fun club event at the rink.
As everyone was beginning to arrive, Asahi watched his tiny boyfriend grow more and more excited. He was bouncing on his toes and had a shimmer in his eyes. He also practically darted around while talking to Tanaka then Hinata then saying some quick things to the other members. Asahi had a small smile on his face as he watched him.
"Alright, it looks like everyone is here! Why don't we rent skates or make our way onto the rink!" Suga announced to the club members.
"Come on Asahi, lets go!" Noya tried pulling Asahi with him.
"I-I wasn't planning on skating." He shook his head.
"What!?" Noya yelled. It caught the attention of some adults around them.
"Why not?" He asked.
"I don't know how to." He quietly replied.
"I'll teach you! Lets get you some skates and we're getting out there!" Noya once again pulled Asahi with him.
After the ace got on the skates, Noya quickly brought him out onto the rink. There was a lot of other people there. Some adults and children, other couples, and some people learning how to skate.
"Just alternate between lifting your feet up. Sort of like you're walking." Noya explained, demonstrating it himself.
He carefully held Asahi's hands as he followed Noya's instructions. They stayed close to the wall just in case. Asahi managed to move. It was fairly slow but they made it half way across the ice.
"Great, try it on your own. Hold on to the barrier if you fall." Noya began to glide backwards away from him.

"W-wait!" Asahi stuttered, but Noya had already made his to the end of the barrier.
Asahi slowly did what he had been doing before. It was a shock he hadn't fallen down just yet, but he was very braced for the inevitability.
"I wonder how Noya knows how to skate? Is this what he does instead of practicing?" Asahi wondered as he slowly picked up his speed.
Quickly, his hands were laced with Noya's as his boyfriend congratulated him, "That was great, you did amazing! You're even getting faster at it! You're a natural, Asahi! Do you want to go around the whole rink without my help?"
"N-no, lets just skate together." Asahi smiled at Noya. Noya was blushing a bit but nodded.
They held their hands at their sides, they were a bit further apart so that Asahi didn't have to bend down a bit for Noya. They skated slowly around the rink when Asahi finally asked, "When did you learn how to skate, Noya?"
"My mom taught me when I was 7. She used to come here all the time, so we came here a lot. She stopped coming with me once I got into high school, but its still fun to learn tricks on my own." Noya explained.
"Wow, you must be great." Asahi complimented. Noya felt a burst of confidence hearing that from Asahi.
"Let me show you!" He let go of Asahi's hand, leaving him to grip onto the barrier.
Noya sped up a lot. He circled once before doing some kind of leap and then a twirling jump. Afterwards he slowed down to stand beside Asahi. Some of the other people there and some club members marvelled at the small show they just watched. A few people clapped.

"How was that?" Noya asked.
"A-amazing but please be careful! You looked like you were going to fall after that leap!" Asahi said, looking visibly stressed.
"Stop worrying, Asahi! I've practiced this many times!" Noya reassured him.
"Let me show you!" Noya suddenly pulled Asahi forward.
"Yu, I can't go this fast." He held desperately onto Noya while also trying to keep up with him.
It only took a few seconds of that before he fell onto the ice but not without taking Noya with him. Asahi fell forward onto Noya and quickly tried to scramble up so he wasn't crushing his boyfriend.
"I'm sorry! Are you hurt? Is everything alright? Do I need to call an ambulance?" Asahi panicked.
Noya got up and quickly shook his head, his spikey hair shook around with him, "I'm alright Asahi, this happens all the time when I practice." Noya gave a thumbs up and a smile just to confirm, but Asahi looked no where near comforted.
"You fall like this all the time!" Asahi continued to panic.
"We can get off the ice if you want. So we don't get hurt." Noya suggested, as he stood back up.
"Y-yeah that would be—" Asahi tried to stand up just as swiftly with some help from the wall, but he only fell right back down.
"Do you need some help? I never really taught you how to stand up if you fall." Noya chuckled nervously. Noya quickly demonstrated, then helped Asahi up as he repeated Noya's actions.
"Come on, lets go. We can watch everyone else skate. I'm sure they're all in the same boat as you." Noya gestured to the other team members on the rink.
Hinata and Kageyama were fumbling all over each other. Kageyama insisted he knew how to skate right, and Hinata also insisted the same thing. Neither of them were doing it right and were falling all over eachother as they did so. Ennoshita and Tanaka and Yachi and Shimizu were both like Noya and Asahi. One knew how to skate and was teaching the other. Then, there was Daichi and Suga who were doing it the best and looked the cutest.
"See, you're doing much better than Hinata-kun or Kageyama-kun." Noya pointed out.
"We can keep skating just don't start going fast again, please. I don't want to fall again." Asahi said.
"S-sorry, I got a bit excited there." Noya apologized, then the two were back to skating hand and hand around the rink.

Someday, he might even – hatch? “CHEEP!?” Things to Know: -Cheep!? Will release on a minimum weekly schedule. -After a backlog of chapters, posting will slow, but in the interim you can expect a chapter a day up until roughly 25 chapters. -This story at times will potentially carry some heavy moments, but the tone is intended to be lighter overall. -There are invisible game-like elements in this story, but nothing so concrete as a dedicated gamelit novel. -I personally have some issues with anxiety, so I may or may not interact with the community a lot. I'll try if anyone has questions, but I can't guarantee that it'll be consistent. -MC is a non-human lead, and will never actually become human. Romance will potentially happen between side-characters, but not with the MC. -MC IS NOT THE ONLY VIEW POINT. I have to put that out there because people sometimes hate alternate PoV's in a story. None of them will be filler, and they'll be there only to give a little bit more nuance and meaning to the world that the MC has stepped in, or is about to be imminently important. I'll try to keep them down, but this also helps to prevent me from burning out getting trapped in one view. -Most of all, I hope that this story is enjoyable to you, and that you have a great time reading it! -Written by Michael Adams, Cowritten/Edited by Summer Kent
