《Haikyuu!! AUs (x Reader)》Hinata Shoyo- Gone

“Hey! (Y/N)! Come look at this,” Hinata shouted behind him.
You slowly walk up to him and peered over his shoulder. “It’s a rock.”
“Yes, it is,” Hinata smiled, his chubby cheeks lifting as he did. He pick up the rock and dust it off dust it off on his pants. “And now it’s yours.”
“Why would I want a rock?” you asked, but still took the rock from Hinata.
“It’s shaped like a heart!” Hinata said. He grabbed up hand and brought it closer to your face. He slowly outlined the faintest shape of a heart that the rock formed. It didn’t really look like a heart to you. You could see the slight curve in at the top from both sides and the end was pointed more than other rocks, but other than that it looked like any other rock.
You glanced up to tell Hinata, but when you did, you saw big doe like eyes from him. It was as if he was proposing to you, hoping for the best answer in the world. Even as a five year old, you couldn’t bring yourself to wipe the look off of his face.
“It kind of does look like a heart.” You slipped the rock into your pocket and gave him a quick side hug. “Thank you. I think that we could go back inside. Mom said that she’d make us lunch.”
“Uhh….(Y/N)....I, umm, I….”
“What is it? You know you can tell me Hinata,” you smiled at him.
He looked down for a second, but then shook his head. “Never mind, come on, food is calling me.”
He grabbed your hand and dragged you back inside your house.
~~~~~
“(Y/N) you're going to be late for school,” you mom yelled.
You groaned and rolled over in bed. “If I’m going to be late, then so be it.” You closed your eyes. You didn’t have any motivation to get out of bed, much less go to school.
“(Y/N)! Come on.”
You scowled, but threw your warm blankets off you,and sat up at the edge of your bed. You thought that you’d get use to the fact that you had to wake up earlier to get to high school than middle school, but you didn’t.
You put on your uniform and stood in front of your dresser where your mirror stood. You glance down, and saw a rock. You didn’t remember seeing that rock yesterday morning when you were putting on your uniform before.
You pick it up and traced the outline of it. It looked like a heart to you. Hearing you mom calling you another time, you slipped the rock into your skirt pocket and left your room.
~~~
In the car, you turned to your mom who was driving.
“Mom?”
“Yeah?”
“Did I have friends when I was younger? Because I swear that I did, but I don’t remember,” you said.
“No, I don’t think so. You were kind of lonely as a kid,” she said.
You laughed. “Geez, thanks for that.”
You turned your head and looked outside the window. The trees and leaves only looked like green and brown blobs, but you’d like to think of it as abstract art. Your mom stopped at the front of your school and said goodbye to you.
You watched as her car left, and then looked ahead of you to the bus stop. You told her that you could just take the bus because it would be easier for her, and she wouldn’t be late for work as often.
A tingling feeling went up your spine. A feeling that someone was watching you took over, and you quickly rushed into the school grounds along with other late people.
~~~~~
Why can’t you see me? Hinata thought. He stood at the bus stop. He stood there every school day because he would see you getting dropped of by your mom. Everyday, you would just walk into the school even he would shout your name, but today you stopped.
You looked at him. After year of trying to get your attention, you finally looked at him. The funny thing was, was that today would be the last day. He told himself that there was no reason to love someone who could see you. There was too much heartache seeing someone, but them not seeing you.
His hand was clutched around the rock he had given you, but earlier that day he went to the sea and threw away the rock. If he had not attachments to you, then maybe he would forget about you the way you forgot about him.
But today, you looked at him and that gave him hope.
~~~~~
“Are you okay? You've been spaced out lately,” your friends said, giving you a concerned look. “You didn’t eat anything at lunch and we are getting kind of worried.”
”I’m fine,” you said “I wasn’t feeling hungry, so I didn’t eat, there is nothing to worry about. I just feel like I’m missing something or someone.”
What your mom said earlier to you in the car stayed in your mind all morning. You weren’t that alone when you were younger. You had a memory of playing in your backyard as a kid.
You just didn’t remember if you were a lone or not.
~~~~~
You sat outside in your backyard. You kept looking around, expecting something to happen. You held your head in your hands. Why can’t I remember? you thought.
~~~
Hinata stood in front of you. “Why can you see me?” He shouted. “ I'm right here.”
You looked sad. Your head were in your hands, so he couldn't see anything else but you're slouching figure, and a shadow.
His shadow.
~~~~
A shadow casted over you that made you jump. There shouldn't be shadows. It was sunny and there wasn't a cloud in the sky, so was was there a shadow?
You stood up and backed a away from it. It was almost a human shadow. You walked around it and it seemed to follow you. The shadow would move facing towards you.
“Is anyone there?”
“I am.”
“Are you going to come out or what? I heard you talking. Are you the person I remember but don't really remember. I know that I had a friend when I was younger. I wasn't alone.”
“You can heard me?”
“Of course I can hear you. I'm 16 not stupid.”
“How can you see me? You couldn't before.”
You turned around. “I think I'm going crazy. Or am I just talking to myself? Maybe my mom's right, I should sleep earlier.”
“I wish you could see me,” someone said behind you.
You jumped and turned around again. A boy your age stood in front of you. “Do I know you?”
The orange haired boy looked up, tears filled his eyes. “You remember?
You shrugged. The tension that was in your body was gone. There was a comforting aura around him that allowed you to talk freely without feeling worried about judgement. “I remember something, but I feel like I’d remember you.”
He bit his lip and walked towards the middle of your backyard. “When we were five, I gave you a rock here, and then one day I woke up, came to your house, but no one answered. I waited, and waited, but no one showed up. The next day at school, I realized that no one could see me, not even you. ”
You felt sad hearing the story, and most of it seem familiar to you, but you couldn’t place yourself anywhere.
“And it kind of sucked,” he said, “even as a five year old I liked you and I didn’t even know what it meant at the time. I liked being around you.”
You hesitantly slid your hand down into your pocket and pulled out the rock you found on your dresser. “Was this the rock?”
You held out your hand to him.
His eyes widened and he smiled. “Yeah, it is.”
“Why would you give someone you like a rock?” you asked him.
“I was five, I couldn’t exactly buy you a dozen roses.”
“I don’t really remember you,” you said. The hope and the playfulness in his eyes died a little at your words. “I remember something or someone that made me really happy and I think that’s you. I can’t promise that everything will be exactly the same as you remember it to be. I just know that I won’t forget you again.”
