Once Lark had made his way into the restrooms, he spotted Andy leaning over the countertop sink, one of the buttons on his shirt unbuttoned and his hair tousled.
"Hey." Andy reached out, trying to reach for Lark's hand, but frowning when Lark pulls it backward.
"Please . . . don't touch me."
Andy was reluctant to back away, only taking a step backward, as Lark held onto the door handle—ready to bolt within each second.
Why did Andy want to speak to him. While reading the note. It was as though he could hear Andy's desperate tone directly through the note. What the hell did he want?
"I wanted to talk about . . . us."
Lark grimaced, "what, us? You told everybody I was obsessed with you."
Andy sighed, taking another step forward. Lark took an instinctive step backward, but it wasn't until then, did he realize, that he was being backed up into the restrooms front door. Andy continued to walk forward, his finger tucking up beneath Lark's chin.
"Ew, what are you doing?" Lark squeaked out, trying his best to cower into the door, and away from Andy's breath on his cheek and neck.
"What do you mean, ew? Marilyn Montgomery said that you were still into me. And that," Andy crossed both arms across his chest, beginning to whisper. "Next year, you wanted to lose your virginity to me."
Lark gasped out, pushing at Andy's chest. "What the hell is the matter with you? She lied, alright? I'm absolutely done with you. And you're the last person I'm willing to do that with."
How could Marilyn say such a thing? And was Andy really willing to lose his virginity in just a year from then—at seventeen? And in a public restroom? Now, that was pathetic.

If only Joseph could hear all of what Andy was saying. "No way she lied," Andy denied, chest puffing outward. "You've been all over me since last year."
"Correction," Lark took an intimidating step forward, shoving a finger into Andy's chest. "You've been all over me since last year—"
"Oh, bull-crap! You were the one who kissed—" Andy stopped, when he heard a knock at the door. Had someone been listening intently into their conversation? Because, if so, Andy's reputation was absolutely ruined.
Joseph knocked lightly at first, but it was ignored, followed by the voices of two people obviously arguing. All Joseph could hear was someone's voice saying, you've been all over me since last year. What the hell was that about?
Then, the door was being unlocked, and pulled open. Lark stood there quietly, his cheeks flustered and a small smile on his face. Andy stood firmly behind him, arms crossed and eyebrows knitted together.
"Ellington?" Andy questioned, just as Joseph asked, "Philips?"
Joseph looked down at Lark, an eyebrow cocked in curiosity and assumption. "What's going on?" When Lark went to answer, Andy grabbed at his arm, beating him to it.
"We just ran into each other and started talking."
"In the bathroom?" Joseph asked, with a knowing smile on his lips. He and Lark felt as though laughter was practically ready to bubble from their lips at any second. Andy seemed guilt. So guilty, that Lark was sure that if anyone else had knocked, Andy would have mocked for weeks—maybe even years.
Andy slid out passed Lark, sending them both an awkward smile, before making his way back into Mrs. Jamison's classroom.
"So," Joseph smiled over at Lark. "Let's chat in the restroom, shall we?"
