Jeon Jungkook finds himself wanting to extend their time together as their coffee date turns into dinner.
"Uncle Jungkook, don't you think I eat so well?" A young Dongsun cheerily questions as he takes another bite of his food, smiling with pure bliss, "... mommy says I'm already a big boy and can eat by myself and big boys need to eat a lot of vegetables to be big and strong. I want to be strong so I can protect mommy forever."
It assures him to know, that his son grew up being protective of her. He knows, that Park Chaeyoung was worth protecting and that certainly, there was no doubt in the world that she was a beautiful and lovely mother.
"You'll have to protect your mommy forever, because she's a beautiful princess and you're her knight in shining armour," he tells him in return, turning his attention to Park Chaeyoung who gives a cautious, yet faint smile.
He notices that Dongsun has a lot of similarities to him— effervescent and full of energy, always curious about things and creative. But at the same time, he was a lot like her—emotionally aware, well spoken and polite.
He was the best of both worlds.
Jeon Jungkook knows that she's being careful around him, making sure not to open up too deeply when he inquires about things. He also knows it's not in his place to push it.
He's simply glad, that he has time with the three alone.
"Uncle Jungkook, when will you come over and play together with me again?"
He feels his heart warming to the words, so simply yet so deep.
Turning his head, he smiles softly at Park Chaeyoung, "... I'd love too if your mommy will let."
Just as she was about to speak, he phone rings. Quickly she reaches for it, eyes squinting as she reads the text. He knows the expression well.
"What's wrong?"
She frowns, "... I need to go to the office to sign the contract for renewed contract, apparently my signature was unclear. But—the girls are busy, my family is in Busan right now and Dongsun's usual baby sitter is off today... I can't bring him with me."

He doesn't think at all but straight away speaks, "... what if I take him to my apartment? It's only five minutes from the YG building anyway, and I'm really free anyway."
His eyes carefully watches as she looks to him anxiously, "... are you sure you can?"
"Of course, it shouldn't take long anyway right? We won't get into too much trouble," he promises before turning to the young toddler, "... right buddy?"
Dongsun's eyes immediately light up before he turns to his mother with pleading eyes, "... please, please can I play with uncle Jungkook, mommy?"
He thinks that he must've done something right, because reluctantly she agrees.
-
Jeon Jungkook chuckles, remembering her strict set of instructions.
1. Don't feed him unhealthy food, he will be too hyperactive at night.
2. Don't let him watch the tv too close, tell him to sit at a good distance. Cartoons only.
3. Don't let him play on the iPad for more than 5 minutes at a time
Park Chaeyoung had an emergency bag in the back of her car seat, filled with snacks and a blanket, a change of clothes and an iPad.
He took Dongsun out to play in the small play area in the back of his apartment, but after half an hour he'd gotten tired. Now they were back home, changed and he was falling asleep quietly on the couch beside him. Jeon Jungkook takes the blanket from the duffle bag and puts it over his body, feeling his heart tug tight when his son wishes him goodnight in partial incoherence.
He reaches for his phone, chuckling to see multiple messages from her.
Hello?
Is everything okay?
Hello?
Remember the rules.
I'll be back soon, YG got caught up in a meeting so it might be a bit over an hour.
Hello?
Reply.
Okay I'm coming back now you better have my son in one piece or else.
Jeon Jungkook quickly presses the video call button, surprised to see her answer immediately. From what he can see, shes in the lift on the way to the basement, careful to keep the screen close to herself in case someone passed by.

"Why didn't you reply to my texts?" She asks him, slightly upset.
"We came back from the play area and now Dongsun is napping," he reports, moving the camera onto the young boy, "... here, Chaeyoung."
The next minute is complete silence until he hears the sound of the elevator ding.
"Okay, thank you Jungkook. I'll drive soon so I'll hang up, I'll see you soon."
Even though her words were cold, he can see the relief in her face. After hanging up, he puts his phone away and quickly rushes to the kitchen and begins to take out the fruit he'd recently received as a gift, deciding to cut a few watermelon pieces for Dongsun for when he wakes up.
Only just as he finishes up and puts them in a bowl, does he hear the doorbell.
For a split second, he thinks it's quite fast—but then again, her agency was very close by.
"Ch—" his greeting stops when he sees his girlfriend, Park Sooyoung on the other side, "... oh, babe w—what are you doing here?"
Of course, she notices that he was acting strange.
"You haven't answered my texts or calls, and when I asked the other boys they said you were at home," she tells him, voice slightly heightened, "... what's happening?"
Before he can speak, he hears the sound of foot steps, rushing to him.
Dongsun had awoken up.
By instinct, Jeon Jungkook quickly picks the young boy up as he in his tiredness rests his head on his shoulder.
"Who's this?" Park Sooyoung questions.
"My nephew," he responds, though she isn't satisfied with the answer.
"Your brother doesn't have a son," she tests him, "... you two look identical, are you really hiding an entire child from me? Don't think I'm stupid, Jungkook! I am your girlfriend!"
And as though the timing couldn't get any worse, Park Chaeyoung emerges from the elevator door.
Jeon Jungkook is fucked.
-
Park Chaeyoung refuses to talk to him.
He'd tried calling and explaining the situation, but the moment she saw the other woman, she snatched her son from his hands and left—not bothering to get her things and not bothering to ask for them back.
With a little begging, he finds her address and stands there.
When the door opens, she's about the slam the door shut when a small voice can be heard from the distance.
"Is that Uncle Jungkook, mommy?"
She lets out a sigh, obviously stressed out about everything.
"Can we talk, please?" He begs her, "... I want to explain... and I brought back your bag and things."
She hesitates before a small Dongsun emerges from beside her, "... uncle Jungkook!"
Jeon Jungkook bends down and hugs him, "... hi little man."
"Mommy is uncle Jungkook going to play with me?" He questions her.
"Yes, but please finish your homework quietly first. Mommy wants to talk to him for a bit, okay?" She explains to him.
He cheers before rushing off to his room.
Jeon Jungkook can see that she has such a soft spot for her son.
"You really wouldn't lie and say he was a family friend? You had to say he was your son?!" She turns to him, "... Jungkook, she knows I'm Dongsun's mother, what if his privacy is violated? What if the media find out?"
He feels bad, he knows.
"I know, I'm sorry—I explained everything to her, and she's still processing... it wasn't my intention at all," he tells her honestly.
"You should've been more careful," she tells him, "... not even for my sake, but for Dongsun."
"I'm sorry Chaeyoung, I know I was wrong," his voice is quiet now, "... it won't happen again."
She sighs, "... I know, I'm just worried. This is why I never wanted to interfere with your love life. I never wanted to come between you and your girlfriend..."
"Ex-girlfriend," he informs her.
"What?" She's almost shouting in shock.
"We broke up last night," he informs her.
"Wh—what? Why?"
"Because she's not the one that I love, and hasn't been from the start. She knew it too—that when we started dating, my heart hadn't moved on from you."

8 354Yin-Yang
Mages in North America seem to have it all – typically from well-off families, and able to manipulate their environment in ways most of the world would never believe. They don’t even have to bother with the mundane details of life like housework, thanks to their sensitives, who also make a useful source for extra magical energy. After all, sensitives have no use for it themselves, and if mages weren’t meant to make use of it, then the sensitives would obviously have some way to prevent that. That a mage can transform a sensitive physically, with no restrictions beyond overall mass and basic biological viability, whereas magic tends not to work directly on any other living thing, is only further proof. And look at the way they live on their own, barely a step above animals. It’s better for them to belong to a mage. Sensitives in North America live on the edge of society and survival – typically so paranoid they avoid hospitals and anything else that could lead to being tracked, many of them with little or no education and no legal identity or existence. Mages exist, and mages want sensitives for some reason, but no one ever comes back to explain what that reason is. Waiting every day for the hunters to notice them doesn’t lead to much motivation or hope for the future. And once they’re captured, they’re the property of someone with a terrifying amount of power over them. Anything is better than capture. Mages are born to be the masters, and sensitives are born victims. Or are they? Jax’s life is turned upside-down when he’s caught by the hunters and sold to a mage. Andreas is still mourning for his previous sensitive, though, unconsciously creating a difficult standard for Jax to live up to, all the more so while still struggling to come to terms with this new reality as Andreas’ sensitive. A runaway sensitive isn’t what Van expects at the mental health centre. Is this a hunter trap, set for him and the rest of the Donovan family by the hunters? The hunters would, after all, love to see them cross the line openly and finally do something they can be charged with. Either way, Miranda’s genuinely in trouble, and he can’t just abandon her to it. Snatching a sensitive out from under the hunters and hiding her is odd behaviour for a mage – but then, Catherine is an odd mage, living in disgrace in the old servants’ quarters of her grandmother’s house, responsible for cooking and housework. Lila owes Catherine her freedom; is there a way to help Catherine achieve her own, and at what price? Tension is building between traditionally-minded mages and those advocating change, and something has to break. *** Yin-Yang includes a small amount of profanity and no graphic sex or on-screen physical violence. However, sex and gender roles and relationships within the mage/sensitive subculture are non-traditional in mainstream North American terms. The key criterion in a primary relationship is not relative sex or gender, but the pairing of mage and sensitive; given the transformation of sensitives by their mages, physical sex is non-absolute for a sensitive, and gender identity can vary as in anyone else. *** *** The way mages treat sensitives is extremely varied and, in some cases is outright abusive. The struggle against that is pretty much the point of the book. It is NOT grimdark or misery-porn! However, if you will be triggered by this, please, don't read Yin-Yang! *** Complete stand-alone novel, 153K words! Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
8 151The DreamWalker Series
Ellette's dreams are unnaturally real. For years she has found them to be the perfect escape, the solution to a life that has been, at times, a nightmare. When she comes across a man from a dream in her waking life, he turns out to be just that; a dream come true. With finding him, she is forced to realize that her dreams overlap into reality, sometimes in frightening ways. The Dreamwalker Series was written as a number of short stories. Several of the stories are quite old so the writing style and mood of the pieces may shift in between each title. Some stories are flash fiction, and so may seem rather brief and abrupt. This story will be uploaded in a non-linear format.
