《The Mysterious Hunter (Bleach x RWBY)》XIV. A Date With Weiss

Ichigo's POV
What just happened? Ichigo has been asking himself this very question for the last few minutes as he's walking back to his dorm. Did Weiss really just ask him out on a date? No, no, she wouldn't do that... would she? She was acting weird... Looking at it objectively, what she did reflects movies and TV shows from his old world when usually, a guy asks his crush out on a date. Although, that might only be the way it works on TV and movies. Whenever Keigo asked a girl out, it was a lot more... Actually, never mind. He's not really a good standard considering his personality. Honestly, his attempts looked more pathetic than anything. But she said she just wanted to thank him. He didn't do anything worthy of such thanks, just helping his friend. Maybe things really are different in this world? Either way, it's probably best to ask someone he knows, someone he could trust to give him answers.
Ichigo knocks on the Team JNPR dorm, where, surprisingly, Jaune answers the door. Ichigo would've thought that he was still exhausted from his team training earlier in the forest.
Jaune: "Ichigo? What are you doing here?"
Ichigo: "Can I come in? I need to ask you guys something."
Ren: "Who's at the door?" he asks curiously.
Jaune: "It's Ichigo." he answers as he lets him in. "He says he wants our help with something."
Ren closes his book and sets it aside, giving his full attention to Ichigo. Hopefully, they have the answers he seeks.
Ren: "So what's on your mind?"
Ichigo: "Here's the thing. Something... strange just happened to me. But first of all, where's Pyrrha and Nora?"
Jaune: "Oh, them? They said they wanted to do some shopping in Vale. Apparently, there's a sale for a new type of ammo for Nora's grenade launcher and she asked Pyrrha to go with her. So what happened?"
Ichigo rubs his neck in consideration of what to say and how to phrase it.
Ichigo: "...I think Weiss just asked me out on a date."
Jaune and Ren look at each other with slight shock reflected on their faces. Was hearing this really so weird? He can see questions building up behind their eyes, questions that he might not be able to answer.
Ren: "You're right, that is strange. Jaune here used to have a giant crush on her, asked her out at least once a week. She said no every time."
Jaune: "You don't have to mention that..." he says, embarrassed. "But Ren's right. Weiss generally doesn't do anything other than schoolwork or training, so the fact that she asked you is weird. Usually, it's the other way around, not that she accepts any dates. Are you sure she did?"
Ichigo: "No, and that's the problem!" he exclaims.
Jaune: "Let's start from the top. What did she say?"
Ren: "How did she ask?"
Jaune: "Why did she ask?"
Ren: "And what was your response?"
Ichigo: "Okay, look, here's what happened. She invited me to dinner tonight as a way of thanking me for some advice I gave her. I don't think it was particularly helpful advice, but I hope I helped her in a small way. I was just being a friend. She said she wanted to repay me for my kindness and that 'A Schnee always repays their debts.' I accepted since I thought I should. What do you guys make of that?"
They both ponder this for a few minutes. This must really be an extraordinary event. This was probably the best method to find out since they've known her longer than he has, since the beginning of the school year. He could have asked her teammates, but Ruby probably wouldn't know, Blake might know, but getting her to hold a conversation is sometimes difficult, and Yang is... well, Yang.

Ren: "Judging by what you've said, I believe she did indeed ask you out on a date, something more than a friendly outing."
Jaune: "Really?"
Ren: "Now that I think about it, I did notice her staring at him at the dance."
Jaune: "Yeah, but she does that all the time, just because she wanted to know about his Dust attack."
Ren: "True, but I think there's something more to it than that. Maybe she has a crush on him?"
Ichigo: "WOAH WOAH WOAH!" he protests. "We're just friends! I've never even gone on a date, much less had a girlfriend!"
Jaune: "Really? With all the girls currently living in your dorm, I would've thought-"
Ichigo: "NO NO NO! Sure, some of them like to mess with me, but I've never thought of them like-"
That's not entirely true. He has had some brief perverted thoughts, like when Yoruichi bathed with him in Kisuke's hot springs, or like earlier when Nel was jumping up and down. Then there's Rukia and Orihime. He feels like he really wants to protect them, willing to do anything to do so. He always thought that was because they're friends, but this entire situation has him question that as well. The others, since he doesn't know them nearly as well, are out of the question. Then again, they are cute and- no, what is he thinking now!?
Ichigo: "I've never dated anyone, okay?" he repeats. "So what do I do? I said I'd go out to dinner with her, but it wasn't until after she left that I realized what she might have meant!"
Ren: "Isn't the answer obvious? You go out with her. Show her a good time."
It does seem like a simple answer, but there's layers of questions beneath it.
Ichigo: "How can I do that?"
Jaune: "Be extra confident. Ladies love confidence. At least, that's what my dad told me."
Must be why he apparently strikes out every time...
Ren: "What I suggest is to just be yourself. If she asked you out with intentions other than merely thanking you, then she probably likes you for you." he advises.
Ichigo (thoughts): 'Wait, why am I so worried about this? I've never worried about things like this. Usually, I just let things happen. Have I changed since I came here? Did fusing with Zangetsu change more than I thought?'
Ichigo: "*sigh* Well, thanks guys. You've been a big help. I think I know what I should do. Now, " he gets up and stretches, "I think I'll get some training in and think about it some more. Again, thanks you guys. You're good friends."
Ren: "It's of no trouble whatsoever."
Jaune: "I know you'd do the same for us!"
Ichigo leaves the dorm and goes to his locker to get Zangetsu, heading to the forest to do some light training while he thinks of how to act on his date tonight.
Weiss's POV
She did it! She asked Ichigo out! Her head was swimming with excitement as she runs away from the courtyard, her barely contained smile shining through. On the way to the cafeteria to get some lunch, Weiss sees Yang lying down in the grass, watching the clouds.
Weiss: "What are you doing?" she asks her fiery teammate.
Yang: "Oh, nothing much. Just taking a breather." she replies. "About to get some grub?"
Weiss: "Well, yes, but..."
Truth be told, while she's more than excited for her date with Ichigo, she's also terrified. What if she's improper? What if this isn't up to his standards? He's a seasoned traveler, who knows what places he's been to!? All those women, he MUST have dating experience...

Weiss (thoughts): 'I don't want to think about that...'
Regardless, she's understandably nervous. Yang's here, but she- No. While she's ferocious, outgoing, intense, and an overall flirt, Yang's still her friend. She can ask her for advice, right?
Yang: "Hellooooo? Earth to Weiss?"
That snaps her out of her trance.
Weiss: "Um... Yang? What's an 'Earth'?"
Yang: "Oh, I don't know. Ruby said Ichigo told her it's an expression. I don't really get it. Something bothering you?"
Weiss: "Well, umm... speaking of Ichigo... I..."
Yang's POV
Weiss: "Speaking of Ichigo... I... I asked him out on a date and I wanted your advice on it!"
Yang could hardly believe her ears. Not only did the most stuffy of her teammates actually ask someone out, but Ichigo, no less! Why!? Does she like him too!?
Yang (Left-Brain): 'Yang! How many times do I have to tell you, he's your cousin! You can't want to bang the drum slowly and by the drum, you mean Ichigo, and by slowly, you mean HARD FUCKING ALL NIGHT!'
Yang (Right-Brain): 'But he's SO FUCKING HOT! Not to mention he's an amazing fighter who's been all over Remnant AND he's a really nice guy who knows how to play the game! What's NOT to like about him!?'
Yang (Left-Brain): 'All valid points, but STILL! He's your cousin!'
Yang (Right-Brain): 'Isn't first-cousin marriage legal in some parts of Remnant? Besides-'
Weiss: "Umm... Yang? Did you hear me?"
Weiss's question snaps Yang out of her trance.
Yang: "Could you repeat that? I'm not sure I heard you right."
Weiss: "*sigh* I don't know... I mean, he's such a great guy and treats me well. He's there for me because he wants to be and listens to me even though I've been nothing but a nuisance to him. I really like him, and I don't want to mess this up."
While she's upset and jealous that Weiss got the jump on her, Weiss is her friend first. Sure, they may not always see eye to eye, but deep down, she's a good person, even if that good person is wrapped up in a few layers of Schnee attitude.
Yang: "Look, Weiss. You don't have anything to be nervous about. Don't let your worry show, he'll pick up on that. He's pretty perceptive. He's probably not even worried about tonight because he has the perfect plan to sweep you off your feet. He's not the type of guy that'd worry about the little things."
Despite being jealous, Yang honestly admires Weiss right now for going for what she wants. What's fair is fair, after all. She didn't ask him out despite aggressively flirting with him late at night. She's not sure if she should. Of course, there's the fact that they're cousins, but there's also the fact that what Weiss said is true: he really is a great guy. The main reason why she hasn't asked him out herself is because she's scared.
Yang (thoughts): 'Well Weiss, you beat me. For now, at least.'
Yang: "Just be yourself. That's the best way to make sure it's a success. I'll support you. Just remember that I'll steal him away if you mess up." she says half-jokingly.
Weiss looks at her slightly appalled. Did she say it too seriously or something?
Weiss: "Please." She rolls her eyes playfully, with a smile. "Although... Do you like him, too?"
Yang: "What!? No...! I- I don't like him like him. He's a fun guy to be around and mess with."
She definitely likes him likes him.
Yang: "Come on. Let's talk more about it over lunch."
As they get up to go to the cafeteria, Yang swears she hears a voice behind her, but when she turns around, the only thing there is a small, black cat in the tree next to them, licking its paw and rubbing its head with it, cleaning itself.
Ichigo's POV
After working up a sweat in the forest and taking a shower, Ichigo takes a shower and puts on his suit. Even if she's just Weiss to him, she's still the Schnee Dust Company heiress. Being in a fancy restaurant and getting nasty looks from people for being in normal clothes wouldn't be an issue for him as he wouldn't care what they thought, but it might cause trouble for her or she might not like it. After doing some thinking, Ichigo decided to take Jaune and Ren's advice to heart, opting to just be himself, but also put on a little bit of confidence. He hasn't seen the others since Glynda took them to get their measurements. Maybe they went to Vale?
Ichigo: "*sigh* I hope they don't get into trouble..."
Ichigo exits his dorm and notices Team JNPR's door slightly ajar. Through the crack, he sees two sets of eyes, one blue, one pink. Looks like they're both curious. Ignoring their spying, Ichigo knocks on Team RWBY's dorm, to which Weiss answers in a similar dress she had on at the dance, although there are a few more accessories.
Weiss: "H-Hey, Ichigo..."
She holds her arm nervously, barely looking at him. He's also slightly nervous, but he doesn't want to let that show.
Jaune (memory): "Compliment her when you first see her."
Ichigo: "Hey Weiss. You look great."
She blushes at his simple compliment. Judging by how she's acting, could this really be a romantic date? He didn't want to believe it earlier just in case he was wrong, but that's what it looks like. No... She said it's between friends.
Ichigo (thoughts): 'Could she just not get compliments often? Judging by what Jaune said, I doubt that's the case, but...'
Weiss: "T-Thank you..." She straightens up and walks out of her dorm. "Shall we go? Our reservation is in a half hour."
Ichigo: "That's fine with me. Let's go."
The two of them start walking down the hallway, heading towards the airship pad. Ichigo could get them there easily with Flash Step, but it's probably best not to rush things. As they're walking, neither of them are talking, so Ichigo decides to open up with something safe.
Ichigo: "Have you started on Oobleck's paper on the Vacuo Campaign yet?"
Weiss: "Huh?" She's taken by surprise. "Oh, uh, yeah! I'm almost done with my research on it. I'm focusing on the different methods Vacuo used to repel the Atlas and Mistral forces, specifically how they kited them into sandstorms and canyons to whittle away at their numbers before Vale arrived."
As they're discussing their classes to take the edge off, Ichigo can't help but feel like there's something off.
In Vale
Even after getting to the restaurant and getting their table, Ichigo still feels like there's something off.
Yoruichi's POV
Yoruichi: "Sui-Feng, what's your status?"
Sui-Feng (radio): "I am in position at the window. They don't seem to have spotted me."
Yoruichi: "Good. Nemu, what about you?"
Nemu (radio): "I am sitting down at a table across the way from Ichigo Kurosaki. I am sitting behind him so he does not notice me."
YoruichiL: "Excellent. Rukia?"
Rukia (radio): "I am in the kitchens, observing them through their order and the window."
Yoruichi: "Good work. Sung, what about your assignment?"
Sung-Sun (radio): "I am sitting at the table with Nemu."
Five Minutes Ago
Tier: "What are you doing, Yoruichi?"
She looks at Yoruichi, who's preparing something.
Yoruichi: "I'm gonna go spy on Ichigo. Apparently, he's on a date. You want to come?"
Tier: "Not interested. I am, however, interested in this magazine that Glynda woman gave us."
She leans back on Ichigo's back, reading the magazine of "Vale Fashion" Glynda gave to her after they left her office.
Yoruichi: "That's fair. Orihime? Rukia? I imagine you two are curious."
Orihime: "N-No! I wouldn't want to intrude on their time together! After all, Ichigo can go on a date with anyone he wants to..."
Yoruichi (thoughts): 'I bet she wishes Ichigo had asked her out. Of course, she wouldn't admit that.'
Rukia: "While I'm inclined to agree with Orihime, this is Ichigo we're talking about. Who knows what kind of trouble he'll get himself into? I'm in."
Yoruichi: "Alright. Anyone else? Sui-Feng, come with us."
Sui-Feng: "Lady Yoruichi, while I'd rather not be a witness of what's to come, I shall accompany you as I swore to do."
Looks like even after Yoruichi was exiled from the Soul Society, Sui-Feng still takes her oath seriously.
Yoruichi: "That was easy. Anyone else?"
Nemu: "I am curious how the people of this world go on these 'dates' as well why Ichigo Kurosaki agreed to go on it."
Sung-Sun: "I am as well. Lady Harribel?"
Tier looks up from her magazine and looks at her.
Tier: "You may. Just be back soon and try not to assault any humans."
Yoruichi: "That makes five of us. Anyone-"
That's right. Mila, Apacci, and Nel are still being measured. Glynda's measuring tape broke when she tried to measure Mila, so she had to scrounge around for another.
Yoruichi: "Well, I suppose that's everyone here. Let's go ladies!"
Present
And so, after using Flash Step/Sonido, five girls not from this world follow Ichigo to what looks like a very high end restaurant.
Sung-Sun (radio): "I am curious as to what this 'date' is. What is it again?"
Nemu (radio): "I believe a date commonly refers to an event where a male and female are alone together with the intention of becoming romantically closer and/or having coitus."
Yoruichi: "Well, that's one definition." she confirms. "Good, everyone's in place."
Rukia (radio): "Actually Yoruichi, where are you? I don't see you anywhere?"
Yoruichi: "Oh, don't you worry. I'm in the beams of the ceiling directly above their table, so I can see them rather well."
Sui-Feng (radio): "Lady Yoruichi, there's a problem!"
Her heart drops. Has Ichigo discovered them so soon? No, he couldn't have, they're hidden so well!
Yoruichi: "Sui-Feng, what's-"
Yang (radio): "Hey! What are you doing here!?"
Yoruichi: "Is that Yang?"
After finding out about this by overhearing the conversation between her and Weiss earlier, Yoruichi somewhat expected Yang to have the same idea as she did.
Sui-Feng: "It's the blonde from earlier, yes, but she's not the only-"
Ruby (radio): "Oh! There they are!"
Sui-Feng (radio): "SHH! Do you WANT them to hear us!?"
Ruby (radio): "Sorry..."
Ichigo's POV
Just after they order, Ichigo knows what's wrong.
Ichigo (thoughts): 'They do know I can feel their spiritual pressure, right?'
From what he can tell, Yoruichi's above him, Nemu and Sung-Sun are behind him, Rukia's over in the kitchen, and Sui-Feng's below the window to his right. Also, he can feel Yang and Ruby next to Sui-Feng. Why are they here too?
Weiss: "Is something wrong?" she asks concerned.
He can't ruin this by telling her that some of his friends are watching them. He'll just have to grin and keep it a secret, at least for now.
Ichigo: "Oh, uh, no, nothing's wrong. I'm just kind of taken aback by how fancy this place is."
Weiss: "It is one of the best places in Vale."
He can feel himself already running out of small talk. He needs to think of something quick.
Ren (memory): "Ask her about herself. Be interested in her."
Ichigo: "So Weiss, I've been wondering something. You're from Atlas, yet you chose to study at Beacon, in Vale. Why is that?"
It's true. He had been genuinely curious for a while. Since she's a Schnee, one would think she'd study in Atlas, where she grew up. She'd have access to pretty much everything.
Weiss: "While I could have studied in Atlas, I felt as if my talents could be better honed here. I wanted to prove myself, away from home." She hesitates for a moment, unsure of what to say next. "I... Even though I'm the Schnee Heiress, I wanted to study in another Kingdom to broaden my horizons in preparation of being a Huntress."
Ichigo chuckles a little as he gets a refill of water, causing Weiss's cheeks to puff out slightly.
Ichigo: "Heh, that sounds like you. Well, based on what I know about you."
Weiss: "W-What do you mean by that?" she awkwardly and excitedly blurts out while her cheeks flare up.
