《Infected [killugon/killuaxgon]》Is this home?

Kurapika followed the narrow lane leading towards the farmhouse he had so proudly chosen. Everything was surrounded by forests and vast fields where food could be planted, which could be handy depending on whether they had any seeds or plantable foods laying around.

The house was a lovely old grayish-blue color with a rather stained white open gable roof. The shape was essentially rectangular, and the concrete of the basement could be seen peeking out from the bottom due to the slight hill the house rested on.

Several of the windows had been shattered, possibly as a result of the events from this previous year.

It was quite spacious, with two levels (not including the basement,) and a rather wide shape.

A 10-foot high chain-linked fence surrounded the house and front yard, equivalent to the gates at the amusement park, giving the impression that it might have been a local farm to the residents a while ago.

When we reached the parking spot which led to the backyard, we discovered an open garage with two rusting vehicles inside. However, the entire yard was crowded with broken-down cars.

A path leading to a large red barn was further down the way, and perhaps it would come in handy sometime in the future. What apocalypse fiction is complete without a barn?

Kurapika promptly exited the car in front of the gate entrance, hurried over to the gate, and picked the lock much like he would always do with such ease. He signaled to Leorio, who hopped into the front seat and drove the car through the gate, just far enough for Kurapika to close and lock it once again.

Kurapika then leaped onto the trunk of the car and pounded the car with his fist, prompting Leorio to continue driving. Perhaps it was just easier to do this than it was to get into Leorio's old seat? Once they arrived in the parking lot, Kurapika leaped off and dashed towards the deck even before the car had come to a complete stop. The deck had been made of ordinary light wood that hasn't yet been fully varnished, though it looked like it was in good shape.

everyone selected a weapon each, with Leorio additionally taking one for Kurapika, and decided to split up around the house and clear out anything that shouldn't be there.

As soon as the weapon landed in his hands he sped off into the house dragging Leorio behind him and wandering through the halls, weapon at the ready.

"Doesn't this place remind you of my old house, Leorio?" Kurapika questioned, his gaze fixed on the long hallway lined with rooms in front of them. Leorio paused for a moment, recalling the resemblance only now.

As he flicked his fingers, his eyes brightened instantly "Yeah, it sure does! The wallpaper, especially. We made a lot of special memories at that place." He finished and directed finger guns towards Kurapika.

Everyone exchanged puzzled looks while Kurapika only chuckled in reply.

Maybe Kurapika chose this property because it reminded him of his previous home? I'm not going to lie, this is a great place to be. It's definitely something we'll be able to fix up in the future.

And I'm sure Killua could put the cars in the area to good use, and I'm sure I'll have a good time re-modeling parts of the barn. That is, assuming Kurapika agrees. The new three are free to do anything they want.

Kurapika and Leorio had already left, leaving us standing at the door. We all silently agreed to carry on with our strategy and quickly separated.

Killua and I exchange a glance towards the basement entrance, which was just below the stairwell leading upstairs. I raised the bat I'd had since the beginning and placed my hand on the door nob, only to jump back in shock when we heard some obnoxiously loud screaming.

"AUGHH-"

That was undeniably Leorios' shriek. Killua seemed to think so, too, because he followed after me at a slow pace after I began sprinting.

Leorio maintained a protective stance when we approached the sitting area, pointing to the corner of the room where a single chair sat.

"Something grabbed my leg!" Leorio gasped.

Killua looked confused; a walker couldn't possibly fit underneath the chair, so it had to be something else. Could it have been a crawler or whatever-related?

Killua moved cautiously over to the chair, pausing for a moment to regain his composure before quickly flipping it over to reveal a raccoon underneath. The lone adult appeared to be on edge, because it lunged on Killua's leg with its claws, latching on.

"Holy shi-!" Killua shrieked as he tried to shake it off. While he was struggling to detach the animal from his leg, I was laughing my ass off with Bisky and Ikalgo, Zushi was horrified, and Leorio dashed off to tell Kurapika what had happened, presuming he hadn't already heard.
