I hear my phone ring as I pack my last belonging. It was my mom. I answer it and let out a huge sigh.

"Yes mom?".

"I'm here,where's your dorm?".

"It's dorm 35".

"How do I find my way there?".

"I don't know ,ask the security guard,that's not my problem". I sassed before hanging up the phone.

"That was kind of rude",Jessie buds in. "Yeah well,she deserved it"I say before shutting my suitcase. "Beks,your mom doesn't deserve to be treated that way. You brought this upon yourself,she's getting you away from all of the negativity that goes on around here"Jessie says. "Yeah but I don't want to g-" . "Beks! Listen to yourself, this isn't about what you want. It's about making sure you're safe and away from all this,away from Ethan. Look I've never experienced mother daughter love with my biological mother which is why I don't want you taking yours for granted"Jessie explains.

"You're right,I'm sorry Jess. I'm just upset"I admit. "It's fine. Now let's get your things out of this roo-" ,just before Jessie could finish her sentence , we hear our door being opened. It was my mom and my little sister,Aby.

"Aby!" I yell out rushing towards my sister and giving her a tight hug. "I missed you so much"Aby says, "you never came over winter break" she adds. "I know. I'm sorry ,a lot came up"I say. "Hey hun, can I talk to you for a sec? Out here in the hall"my mom asks. "Yeah,whatev- I mean,yeah sure"I say walking behind my mother and closing the door behind us.

"So,I know everything. All that's been going on here".

"Yes,and?"I say crossing my arms.

"So why didn't you tell me Beka? You know better than this".

"I know,I'm sorry. I thought it'd be easier if the hospital told you instead".

"I'm not just talking about the hospital incident Beka. I'm talking about this Ethan guy abusing you".

"How did you know about that?"I say in disbelief and nodding my head.

"I called your friend Jessie after the hospital called me and began to ask questions",my mom says ,staring at me in disappointment.

"Jessie told you all of this!?".

"Yes but only because I asked".

"That bit-"

"No Beka ,she did the right thing. No matter how much you hate to admit it".

My mom was right. I'm glad I'm getting out of here. I'm just not happy about the people I have to leave behind.

"Beks!"Alex yells running towards me. "Alex,hey"I say,giving him a kiss on the cheek. "Mom ,this is Alex,my boyfriend . Alex,my mom". I say introducing my mom and Alex to each other.

"Boyfriend?"My mom says looking at me then shaking Alexs' hand. "Hi. It's nice to finally meet you" Alex says as he gives my mother a big smile. "It's been a pleasure dating your daughter. I'm glad we finally met"Alex says giving a quick smile. "Alex it's okay, you don't have to impress her"I say with a gentle scoff. "What are you talking about ?"Alex asks,as if his manners were genuine.

"No,I'm serious. It has been a pleasure dating you. You have an amazing daughter"Alex adds.

"Alright well,let's begin loading the car"I say cutting Alex off.
