"I, Sally Acorn, is cancelling your program to bring you breaking news. World known murderer Miles Prower has been captured and imprisoned today outside of Gogoba village this morning"
A picture of Miles being carried to the van is shown on screen.
"A cloud of smoke was rising in the morning sky when the police found Miles, as long as the whole neighbourhood on fire. The police said that they captured him the moment he escaped a private house on fire. The murderer himself said that it was not his doing, still, no one believed him.
Miles appeared to have burn damage so intense, that a normal person would have died from this damage"
"The police also confirms that Miles did not resist when they captured him. These were his exact words: "There is nothing left for me to do. I have finished what I came here for"
"Passerbys say that they witnessed Sonic the Hedgehog trying to help out the murderer, and convinced many others to take away their phones. The police listened as much that they brought the murderer to the hospital before bringing him to prison. Why Sonic tried to protect him is an unknown answer, but the police is trying their best to ask the hedgehog this question"
The screen flipped over to another view, where a police officer is being interviewed by another news reporter.
"Sir, can you describe your current situation with Miles?" The news reporter asked, before pointing the microphone to the cop. "Miles is at the moment being treated at the hospital behind me, but he is set to a close watch by armed cops around in his room, outside of the room, inside the hospital in all hallways and outside, as well as security cameras pointed in his direction. If he tries anything, we will capture the moment. We will not take any chances when it comes to him, he has escaped way to many times"
"Will you confirm Miles' escape impossible?" The news reporter asked. "Sadly, I can't. We will never know, but I can assure you that he will not escape any time soon. He is too wounded for that"
"Thank you for your time officer" The reporter said, and the cop nodded before going back to the hospital entrance. "Sally"
"Thank you Honey for your valuable time. As of now, the situation is being controlled by cops all over Mobious. They assure us that Miles will not escape at the moment. You received the news from, Sally Acorn"

Sonic, Blaze, Silver and Knuckles were all gathered in Cream and Vanilla home. They all watched the news with faces of relief, but Sonic's face is unable to be read. None of them said anything, they all remained silent before Cream changed the topic. "How is Vector doing?" Sonic turned to look at the rabbit.
At the exact moment Miles got imprisoned, Sonic reached Vector's destination, where he is being kept care of by therapists. He told the therapists that the doctors have suggested giving Vector the liquid that Sonic brought with him, and so they did. Within a months time, Vector was released healthy back into the world. He had no problems whatsoever and he could start his detective career from where he left off.
"He is doing way better" Sonic smiled, leaning back against the sofa with his arms behind his head.
"It's quite surprising really. He got back on his feet... just like that? A little treatment?" Blaze asked in confusion, holding her hand out.
Silver shrugged. "Vector did say that he had gotten some sort of medicine that made him come back to normal, but the scientists lost the liquid thingy they used on him, so they are unable to identify it"

"Huh..." Blaze sighed and rubbed one of her burn marks as well. "Let's just say... that he tasted his own medicine" Blaze mumbled, but everyone heard her.
"His punishment doesn't stop there... The moment he have healed from his burn marks, he will be tested... in ways we can only imagine" Sonic mumbled, lowering his ears. 'I know that they won't go easy on him. They will make him suffer from all the pain he has caused'
"What do you mean Sonic..?" Cream asked, confused. Everyone turned silent. Sonic's watch broke the silence. Yes, Sonic has a watch.
"I need to go somewhere, thank you for the hot chocolate Cream" Sonic said in his cheerful tone again, ruffled her hair and bolted out the front door. Sonic promised Vector to explain where he had gotten the liquid that healed him from his... psycho thoughts?
The day is unusually cold, despite the season of spring is coming up. The sky is covered in gray clouds. 'Is it going to snow or rain today?' Sonic thought as he ran down the road, jumping over a few cars as they passed by. He runs down towards New Mobotropolis, to Chaotix Detective Agency, where Espio, Charmy and Vector is doing their work. Espio decided to be a detective and a cop. No one told him that it's not allowed, so he went with it.
A loooooong explanation later...
"Miles... told you to give this to me?" Vector said shocked, looking down at the small bottle with his healing liquid that he stole from the doctors.
"Yup, he told me that you didn't deserve the pain he had to go through. You still had a chance. He didn't. You could say that he has already fucked up his life" Sonic chuckled lightly, Vector joining him. The crocodile placed the funny looking elixir thingy on the table.
"This is so messed up... One moment, Miles kills one of our friends, the next he kills another one of our friends and a bunch of others. He turns everyone against each other like you and me... and then, the next moment the guy helps me when he could've helped himself... " Vector rubbed his forehead, frustrated over all of these thoughts.
Sonic nodded in agreement, leaning up against the wall. "So, what do you plan on doing with the remainings of your 'healing potion'?" Sonic asked.
Vector gently shoved his chair back and stood up, grabbing the bottle and smiled. "I am going to give Miles the rest. There is less than half left of it, but it should be enough to bring him at peace" Sonic got taken by surprise.
"That... Wasn't quite what I imagined you would do" Vector laughed.
"Neither did I, but he saved me from becoming a second Miles. We may as well get rid of the only Miles there is as well" Vector smiled and picked up a syringe from his drawer. "I have a feeling that the doctors there won't give him this, so I plan on doing it myself. Asking them if I can come for a visit won't hurt will it?"
You're not wrong Vector.
As Vector said, he sent an email to where Miles is being heldt, New Mobotropolis Psychiatric hospital. And he got access to visit Miles without any problem, but he has to be with someone.
Vector entered the building which looks abnormally big. Apparently so is there many patients with mental problems here. He walked in line to the counter and waited for his turn, as there are three people ahead of him. He took his sweet time to look around the room. As expected of a hospital so are all of the walls white. With a few paintings to create a little more room and bring happiness to the area. Even though it doesn't work as much...

"Sir? Sir crocodile?" The counter woman asked Vector. Who quickly reacted. "Ah, sorry"
"May I help you Sir?"
"Yes, I sent you guys an email about visiting..." He trailed off. Quickly glancing left and right before he leaned over the counter. "... Miles?"
The woman seemed to have turned to ice, but she nodded and pressed a button. "Detective Vector has arrived" She spoke into it and nodded to Vector. "You may wait over there until your guide comes"
It didn't take long before a raccoon asked for Vector's name in the room. The raccoon took Vector's hand and smiled, before he started walking down a hallway, Vector following close behind. They walked for a solid two minutes before the raccoon opened a door that lead to a staircase, going down. He gestured Vector to follow and so he did.
For each step they take, it echoed in the room. The atmosphere changed dramatically from comfort, to discomfort. Multiplate that with two, and you got Vector's stomach feeling. Once they reached the bottom, there were three different types of locks on the door in front of them. One is a code lock, the other scans the eye and the third scans fingerprint. After that, the door opened and they walked in.
'This looks more like a prison than a mental hospital...' The walls are made of concrete and iron bars keeps the patients, or prisoners in, along with little light given from a lightbulb in the ceiling. Just like a prison. The only difference is that there are no other prisoners than Miles in this hallway.
"Miles, you got a visitor" The raccoon said as he knocked on the iron bars. When Vector's eyes got used to the dark he could see Miles' state. His heart got crushed to a million pieces...
Miles has shackles around his arms, feet, tails and neck, where the chains that is attached to them are linked to the concrete wall behind him. He is placed on a single bed with his legs crossed, his arms resting in the middle of them and his head hanging low. But that's not all, there are also spikes a few centimeters away from every part of his body. If he wants to move, he can only roll on his limbs or lean forwards, or else he will get stung.
His body is doing no better, his burn wounds are very visible, but have appeared to have healed. Alongside them, there are cuts, scars, bruises and his clothing- which is a black and white striped jumpsuit- are ripped on the edges of its sleeves, neck and legs. There is also stained blood in almost every part of his body, but is not so visible to the naked eye.
"What... have you done to him?" Vector tried his best on remaining serene, but his heartbeat have increased abnormally fast.
"You must understand that what you are seeing down here cannot be brought to the outside world. Miles is a criminal that has escaped from every prison and avoided any trap possible. We couldn't take any chances. We only take away the spikes if he needs to eat or use the bathroom, but otherwise we keep him here under high security" The raccoon said, Vector gulped.
The silence broke by a phone call. "Ah, excuse me while I take this. You got five minutes. I will come back to get you then" Then the raccoon walked out of the hallway to answer his phone. Leaving Vector and Miles alone.
"So, this is what they have done to you... huh?" Vector said, walking a little closer to the cell. Miles only lifted his head enough to look at Vector's feet, because he couldn't rise it any higher. Therefore Vector sat down on the cold concrete floor, feeling the cold rush through his bum.
"... Vector...?" Miles said, like a whisper. His eyes is dark and empty. His blue color is completely faded, where gray has replaced it. "...You're ok..." He forced a smile, but he only managed to make a small one. "... I am glad..." The fox said it in such a way that he means it, and Vector listens.
"It's all thanks to you, but this is your price" Vector sighed.
"I deserve this. I don't want to fight anymore. I have done what I wanted to, only to find out that it did not work..." Miles gazed down to the mattress he sits on.
"Why don't you want to fight anymore?"
"Why should I run when there is nothing to run towards?" Miles replied, moving his eyes back to the crocodile. His eyes wishes to cry, but he is way too tired to.
"You may be right Miles... But there is someone who misses you. Someone you know very well" Vector smiled as he fiddled with something in his pocket.
Miles' eyes lit up a notch. "...Sonic?" Vector nodded as he brought out the syringe. "What is that...?" Miles asked out of insecurity, he let the words out like a sob.
"No more... please no more..!" He whispered as tears formed into his eyes. Vector snuck his arm through the bars and towards Miles' arm. "P-please no more...! P-please- more! N..no.. no more pain...!" Miles started switching personalities, it's like one part of him wants pain, but the other doesn't.
"Yes! More!- N-no! No more...!" He backed up, but it resulted in him being stabbed by the spikes behind him, he cried out in pain as his tears fell down from his cheeks. Blood trailed down his back and soaked his mattress red. 'He is freaking out!'
"Miles! This is what you gave me!" He stopped moving and stared at Vector, his eyes is wide with fear. "I am going to give you the rest, but then you need to corporate with me" Vector said, making Miles move his arm as far as he could towards the crocodile. He managed to reach a little over elbow, and that's where he pushed the syringe in. He pressed the liquid carefully into Miles' arm before he took the tip out when every single drop were injected.
Miles started panting softly, and tears of sweat formed on his forehead. "You will sweat a lot for the next hour, but within a month, you should be feeling better" Vector said as he hid the syringe inside of his jacket when he heard footsteps.
"You should give him some water, he started to sweat a lot now" The raccoon nodded as he arrived into the scene.
"Finished? There is a minute left" The raccoon said, and Vector stood up, ready to leave.
"Vector... Thank you... for your time" Miles cracked a smile, which Vector returned.
The raccoon looked down at his watch and gestured Vector to leave. 'I hope this works...'

Two months have passed since Miles got his medicine. During those months, he have changed dramatically. Even the doctors couldn't recognize him, nor could they figure out what have happened to him. Sadly, they didn't trust his change enough to let him go. The judge has decided that Miles will be forever kept under watch by the police, G.U.N or any other being that is strong enough to handle him if something goes wrong. These were the Judge's exact words:
"Miles Prower has done way too many crimes to be trusted- therefore he will be kept under high security cautions for the rest of his life"
But they couldn't hide any more from the news picture. Somehow, Sally Acorn managed to book an interview with the fox himself. They met in a room where they interviewed live, with three G.U.N soldiers behind him as he sat down in the opposite chair from her.
The chipmunk wears a skintight azure blue dress together with black heels and a pearl necklace. Miles just wears a black hoodie with red writing -kind of hard to read- a pair of jeans and red and white sneakers. Oh yeah, he is handcuffed.
"I, Sally Acorn, speak live from Mobotropolis news, where today we will be interviewing the world's dangerous murderer- or shall I say, ex-murderer?" The camera switched from her face to the whole room. Two comfortable royal red chairs where the two creatures sits and a round coffee table with two glasses of water. "How are you today Miles?"
"Quite alright actually, what about you?" He asked kindly, but not happily.
"I am lovely, thank you for asking. Now, I wonder. And I am pretty sure everyone else does as well- but are you healed now? Do you have any more intentions when it comes to murder?" Sally asked straight forwards.
"Actually, now that you ask it: not really. I don't feel any need to... well, kill, anymore. It's like every thought vanished in thin air." Miles explained, motioning his hands like his head exploded. The chains rattled as he did so.
"But I am still unstable, at least that is what they say" Miles pointed with his thumb behind him to the guards. "That is why there is, like, a million of these guys around this area at the moment"
"Oh, I see..." Sally sounded a bit insecure as she said that, but kept it hidden enough. "Anyways... You have received a life sentence in prison and under guard, how does that make you feel?" The chipmunk placed her arm on the armlean.
"It makes me feel... surprisingly calm, but also watched, for obvious reasons" Miles said, leaning his head onto his palm, where his elbow rested against the chair's armlean.
"Why calm?"
"Why? Because I don't need to run away from the cops, they are keeping me on security watch 24/7, so there is no way I can escape" This caught the guards' attention, but only Miles noticed, making him smile on the inside. 'Not that I can't, I just don't want to'
"Unable to escape, how does that make you feel?"
"Hm... Trapped, but it's nothing I can't handle. Now, is there something interesting you want to ask me, the audience might get bored already" Miles didn't even think about being patient, he just says what he feels.
Sally coughed lightly. "Of course. I may move on to a more interesting topic then. Miles, for many years ago you happened to cause an accident in Knothole science school, killing almost half of the students there. Is this how you become who you are today?" The guards seemed to move, like they expected him to attack the chipmunk.
He snickered, making the guards insecure on what to do. "You are right Sally, but what happened before that made me who I am today. Simply put as, I got drugged" She widened her eyes slightly. "A drug so powerful that it still remains in my body. It causes my adrenaline to be pumping endlessly, makes my brain think twice as fast and causes my body to move before anyone else can consider it" The chipmunk didn't say a word, but her body spoke enough. It's like she was trying to say: 'Dear Chaos...'
"Now, this may sound like this drug is some sort of extra power, but that drug is the reason I am like this" Miles circled his finger on the armlean, the other arm still holding up his head.
"But, can't the doctors remove the drug?" She asked, her voice a little pitched on the end, where she excused herself.
"Nah, I will always have this drug flowing through my veins. Sleeping pills and other calming injections help me for a good amount of time, but that is the only cure that they have. But then again, If they give me too much of it, I'll die" Miles shrugged. "An unstable teen with no cure to get better, my future sounds lovely doesn't it?" He smiled calmly, but his darkening eyes didn't make him look relaxed at all.
"No cure huh..." Sally mumbled almost unheard, the cameras didn't catch it, but the fox did.
"There is pretty much no hope for me, but whatever" The conversation almost came to an end where they sat, before Sally brought out a small note, most likely what she should ask next.

Thanks everyone. Without your support I doubt I would have made it.Please support me by pointing out logical errors and the things you didn´t like about the story. As it´s a rushed work I am aware that it has many flaws.

My submission for the January Writing Contest POWER of the SUN is a Cells at Work-inspired comedy short story about a hydrogen atom that goes on an adventure trying to stop the sun from going out. 8 82Sufficiently Advanced
A Novella about magic vs aliens vs science. It's a raucous, campy sci-fi read involving humans gaining magic, a possibly pizza-hating alien empire, the decapitation of the US Federal Government, eldritch abominations, lesbian space witches and some medium-hard science.I wouldn't say it's not serious, but I wouldn't say it's serious. Eh, it's not serious. Wait... it's getting serious.
