"𝙔'𝘼𝙇𝙇 𝙆𝙉𝙊𝙒, Jell-O used to be a delicacy. You know, in order to make it, you gotta boil down a whole mess of hooves...you know, horses, cows, pigs, it doesn't matter. But not everybody has a mess of hooves just lying around. It wasn't until, uh...a couple of sassy New Yorkers figured out how to dry it out so that the rest of us could have a...a chance to enjoy this nice ambrosia."
Luther, Diego, Vanya, and I sat with Elliot as he explained something we didn't really care about. Diego was messing around with his knives. "If we have some, will you shut up?" Diego asked Elliot, referring to his Jell-O dish. "Maybe," he grabbed the spoon to serve the dish. "Here." He scooped some out with a squelching noise. I almost laughed at the disgusted look on Luther's face.
"How you feeling?" Luther asked Vanya. "Pretty shitty, to be honest," she replied. "Where would you say you are on a scale from one to...ending all life on this planet?" Diego asked, flipping a knife in his hand.
"Really?"
I groaned. "Would you please shut up, Diego?" Luther leaned forward. "Diego, put the knife away, you idiot. She's fine." Diego kept on flipping. "The last time I saw this one, she had me suspended in midair, sucking the life out of me with energy tentacles." He pointed the knife at Luther. "I think I'm allowed a little time to process."
"Oh, I would love to see an energy tentacle!" Elliot chimed in. I inhaled sharply. "No, you really wouldn't."
"I don't remember what I did, but I'm sorry. If...if that means anything," Vanya tried. Diego looked at her and slowly lowered his wrist. "It does. Just, going through a lot right now. There's this...girl that I like. I thought she liked me, but it turns out that she's-"
He was interrupted by the door opening and the sound of a woman laughing. "Oh, thank god," Luther sighed. "Is anyone here? Hello?"
"Le petit mort, le petit mort," mumbled a familiar voice. The woman laughed. "What? You don't speak French." They stumbled around. "It's the little death." They giggled and continued to chat. The rest of us approached the railing and looked at the ground. Klaus and Allison. They looked up at us.

"Oh wow. I know this is impossible, but, did we all get sexier?"
We all stared at each other a moment longer. Klaus waved, and I giggled waving back. "Vanya, (Y/N)," Allison said. "I can't believe I have another sister," Vanya said, rushing down the stairs. The rest of us quickly followed. "I missed you, both of you," Allison said, turning to me as well. I smiled at her.
"Thank God someone did," Vanya said, chuckling softly. We stood there for a few more awkward moments until Vanya held out her arms. We laughed and came in for a hug. I heard Diego approach Klaus. "Oh, you are drunk."
"Yeah. No, just a little...just a few," he gestured around and turned towards us. "Oh, that's so sweet," Klaus said, coming in for the hug. Vanya and I held out our arms for him. "No, Jesus," Allison muttered. Vanya and I laughed. "Hi," she said. "Hey, Vanny. Hey, (Y/N)," he replied, kissing both of our heads.
"Klaus, is Ben here?" Five asked. "Oh, uh...no," Klaus said, letting go of us. "No, unfortunately, ghosts can't time travel."
"Um, I actually show-"
"Ba, ba, ba, ba, ba. You saw absolutely nothing," Klaus stopped me.
"Are you kidding me?"
"All right, then. Let's get down to business," Five said, making his way up the stairs. Klaus put his arms around mine and Vanya's shoulders. "So, Vanny, (Y/N), what's new?"
"Hey Diego. Can't say hi to nobody?"
"Hi, Allison," he muttered. "What was that?" She asked. "Hi, Allison!"
"Thank you!"

"𝘼𝙇𝙇 𝙍𝙄𝙂𝙃𝙏. First off, I wanna say I'm sorry. I really screwed the pooch on this whole going-back-in-time-and-getting-stuck thing." Five was currently briefing the entire family on our current events. "But the real kick in the pants here is we brought the end of the world back here with us."
"Oh my God, again?" Klaus asked. He looked to all of us, but we didn't react. We had heard all of this already. "All of you knew? Why am I always the last one to find out about the end of the-"
He paused. "Oh my God. My cult is gonna he so pissed. Five! I told them we had until 2019," Klaus said, exasperated. "We have until Monday. We have six days," Five stated. "Is it Vanya?" Klaus asked. "Klaus!" Allison scolded. "What? It's usually Vanya."

Vanya sighed and looked at Five. "Do you have any leads, Five?" Diego held out the folder for Five. "Yeah, we have one." He handed the folder to Allison, who opened it and looked at the picture inside. "Holy shit, is that Dad?" Klaus came around to peer over her shoulder.
"Yeah," Diego confirmed. "That's him?" Vanya asked. "And he's standing on the grassy knoll," Diego commented. "(Y/N), Diego, and I have been trying to talk to Dad about what exactly this means. So far, we've got nothing," Five said.
"Not nothing. He's planning to kill Kennedy," Diego commented. "Maybe," Five started, "But we don't know who or what sets doomsday in motion. Could be Kennedy, could be something entirely independent. But if we know something changes the timeline, we have to make it right."
"Yeah, but how, if we don't know what's broken?" Allison questioned. "Come on, do the math," Diego said. "We know Dad's having shady-ass meetings with some shady-ass people. We know he's on the grassy knoll in three days to kill the president. So I think all we know what we have to do."
"Kill Dad."
"Find Dad."
Five and Diego spoke in unison. We all stared at them. "None of us are supposed to be here, right?" Vanya interjected. "I mean, what if it's us? Has anyone here done anything to screw up the timeline?" She asked. Klaus shook his head while the rest of us looked down. Allison poured some more alcohol.
"Diego's been stalking Lee Harvey Oswald."
"And you're working for Jack Ruby."
"Allison has been very involved in local politics."
"Okay, you started a cult."
"Thank you!"
Klaus growled and hissed at Allison and Ben. "I'm...I'm just a...a nanny on a farm. I don't have anything to do with all of that," Vanya stated. "Well, maybe you do, we just don't know it yet." Everyone then turned to me. "What?" They continued staring. "Fine, I'm friends with the girl who kills Lee Harvey Oswald. You happy? We all screwed up."
Diego whistled sharply. "Listen to yourselves. Everything in our new lives is connected to Kennedy. That can't be a coincidence. Luther and (Y/N) work for Ruby, Allison is protesting the government, Dad is on the grassy knoll, Klaus is...doing something weird and pervy but probably related." I saw Ben shrug in the corner of the room. "See, clearly, we were all sent back here for one special reason: saving John Fitzgerald Kennedy."
Overlapping arguments began between everyone. It became louder and louder until Five spoke up.
"Guys, you all die," he said, stopping our fights. "I was there. I saw it. And I wanna forget it, but I can't. I saw Russian nukes vaporize the world with all of you in it, in a war that never happened until we brought it here. And Hazel gave his life to save us, so you may need to shut up and just listen to me. I don't know if the things we've experienced here are all connected, I don't know if there's a reason for everything. But Dad will. We need to talk to him before everyone and everything we know is dead."
Luther stood up. "Okay, I'm out," he said, sighing. "Did you even hear me, Luther?" Five asked, exasperated. "Yeah. Yeah, I did. I heard a 58 year-old man who still wants his daddy to come and fix everything."
"Sounds familiar," I muttered. "Well, you can count me out," Luther continued. "It's time we all grew the hell up."
"Luther!" Vanya shouted. "Come back!" We all stared at him. "Where are you going?" Klaus asked. Diego tried stepping in front of him. "Save it, Diego." He tried to move down the stairs but Five teleported in front of him. "No one leaves until we figure this out."
Luther looked at him before throwing him off the steps. I yelped, but he teleported and hopefully landed in the alley.
"Should I go check on him?" I asked. Klaus shook his head. "You know, I could really go for some tacos right now. Allison? Tacos?" Allison looked back. "Shouldn't we wait?" She asked, pointing to Luther and Diego. "You know those guys. I mean, it could take forever for them to bro it out. (Y/N), Vanya, tacos?"
"Is there any way that tacos are gonna cause the end of the world?" Vanya asked. Klaus scoffed. "I mean, there's only one way to find out, right?" Klaus said, snapping his fingers. Allison picked up her bag. "Sure is." I stood up and looped my arm through Klaus's. "Let's go!"
We walked out of the room, leaving Ben alone. "I've missed you all...so much."

To The Far Shore
Post apocalyptic Oregon Trail. The apocalypse has come and gone. And come back again, and left again... nobody really knows how often. Nothing lasts forever, but nothing is ever completely gone. Which is a shame for young Mazelton, as his family has been around a terribly long time, and made an astonishing amount of enemies. Millenia's worth. So he has to run- from mobs, cannibals, soldiers, sailors, cholera, cattle, thieving sales-monks, starvation, mechanical horrors, vengeful spirits, negotiating your own marriage, and poison of every sort. Fortunately, his not terribly nice family has trained him well in the arts of core polishing. Or as you and I might know it- turning radioactive pellets into useful tools. And weapons. Updates Monday-Wednesday-Friday. Usual defensive tags applied. The goal isn't exactly family friendly, but you have probably seen worse on network TV. After the watershed. Not full blown HBO, let's say. This is the first novel I am sharing publicly, so feedback is very much appreciated and encouraged. Act 1 of the novel is completed, but do please let me know what works, what doesn't, and what you would like to see more of. Thank you, and Enjoy!
