Chapter One ~ Do's and Don'ts

Do:

> DO Write...A LOT, even if the idea is dumb, keep writing, your writing improves even if you think it doesn't!

> DO Read tons of stories and books, they can actually teach you something!

> DO Use proper grammar and capitalization's, I DO NOT want to see you using text language, unless your characters are texting, then it's except-able

> DO Create UNIQUE plots

> DO Write down everyone of your ideas. You may not like them at first, but in the future you could really make the idea work.

> DO Put author's note at the end of each or every other chapter/part. It makes the readers feel more comfortable [ for some reason I cannot explain at the moment ].

Don't:

> DON'T Write like this: bck when i wuz in scool i fell in luv with a kewl prson! I can't even understand it, and it looks like my big toe wrote it or something!

> DON'T Be discouraged because something you've written didn't turn out as well you would have liked.

> DON'T Feel too bad about scrapping an idea that isn't working for you. Even the best authors abandon projects from time to time. It sucks, I hate it, but sometimes it's the right thing to do.

> DON'T Make your story cliche. In case you don't know what that means, it means if in the whole story has characters that are like the cheerleader and jock are in love, then he falls in love with the nerd blah, de, blah, blah, blah! You see that stuff EVERYWHERE, it gets boring and eventually...predictable. Unless you can make that unique and original, DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!

> DON'T Be upset/angry if you happen to be writing a novel about a ugly women/mouse slowly rotting in the grill of a car, well...I wasn't saying it can't be done. In fact, I bet you're just the author to pull it off. You go, girl (or guy)!

> DON'T Make things TOO detailed, the reader likes to imagine the setting and some of the characters, don't you think? Now I'm not saying don't put detail, I'm just saying to not put TOO much.

> DON'T Overcrowd your story with curses and...[you know what]. You can put some in just don't suffocate your reader with it. It gets sickening!
